I've come to end of febuary in 2nd season and I'm barely threading water in terms of money. I simulated more than half of the season, but still got promoted fairly easy.
In the first season I was spending 35k of my 40k budget on riders, but staff was initially 40k on top of that. I got a cheaper scout, but eventually I had to fire the coaches and get a very cheap one.
I fired all staff in October, and in January I had about 65k balance. I had signed Phinney and Rabottini, in the hopes they would pay for themselves. With a few talents signed as well riders wage is 55k/40k. I got two cheap coaches, and atm I have to cover about 33k each month, which seems a bit too much, unless I get a big pay off soon.
Sponsor is also expiring and I can't afford to hire an agent, and I don't have any scouts. Bank balance is 8k
It looking likely that I'll manage top 5 in continental ranking, but I might have to fire both coaches. Anyone know what happens if I can't make enough money? I assume I won't be able to sign riders/staff, but are there any other consequences?

Believe it or not, nothing happens if you go black other than the obvious; not being able to spend. Fire your coaches, because they only go so far. Once you get promoted, get a better sponsor at contract termination.

Alright, cheers. I might have to see how far I can go with this setup. If I can't make up the lost money I'll have to go coach-less for a while, because I'd like the opportunity to sign talents and riders in July.
I just started the cobbles-season with a bang though. Phinney, Keirsbulck and Ghyselinck all sat in the last group on Omloop, and Phinney was able to get on the wheel of Breschel and managed to overttake him and Boonen on the last 5 metes to win. In K-B-K I only manged 17th place, but if I can get some decent results that'll make a big difference. Got a wildcard for E3, G-W and RV
Should I prioritize an agent over coaches, or do you recon the current sponsor will increase significantly if they are pleased (as they have been so far)?

I'd definitely prioritize an agent over coaches.
Sponsors offer more than the current one in a lot of cases.
Also, the financial system of PCM 12 sucks. So when I make a custom team f.e, I give myself some extra money(If I only need 0% budget, I give myself 10% at the start to get some trainers and not get broke)

Yeah, I thought I should have done that budget trick, leaving a little bit more wiggle-room for staff saleries.
I think I want to keep it Belgian though, so it would only be a local/national agent. Would it still be worth it, you think?
Phinney just managed a win in Le Samyn and 2 stage wins in West-Vlaanderen. Still have 1 stage left but looking likely he'll get the GC
National agent, yeah worth it. Local pays awful budgets though.
I think you can get a 1,5-2,0 million budget(per year obviously) if you're lucky, with national. That can be a bit more or a bit less, I'm not sure. Idk what's your current budget?
just started my third year with ceramica-fondriest team. brought them up after two years to pro continental. now I have Atapuma and daniel Oss as my two big riders. Oss is completly sick the first part of the season so far. only that I came 11 th in the paris rubaix and didnt get paid for it!!!

If you're really bothered for not getting money, you can always edit the money you have(add the prize money) by opening the savegame with an editor -> Dyn_Manager

Minimum I think. 480k pr year. If I get that much I can afford to sign a few riders and still have plenty for staff!

I do that. Specifically I make a note of how much every time it happens and add it at the end of the season. It usually happens 2-3 times a season for me. It seems to depend on the variants so I'm guessing it a database issue?
For E3 I had Keisebulck in 100 fitness! I played the waiting game and didn't chase at all, not even towards the end. Just trying to sit with the group not doing any extra work. It worked well, as I got 4th, 7th and 8th (Keiserbulck, Phinney, Ghyselinck respectivly). Phinney has 3 times as many points as nr 2 in the continental rankings, and my team is currently 6th overall in the CQ-ranking. Might actually get promoted if this keeps up, although I'm guessing the best Pro teams will pick up lots of points in the grand tours.
I'm playing with a custom team, and I am in 2020. I've just finished Paris - Nice, where my star Will Parker won 4 stages, and finished 2nd in a stage too. He won the overall ranking + the points classification. I play on hard difficulti.
Will Parker won 4 stages because of he is such a multitalent, he climbs very well, and have a pretty good sprint, so he can outsprint most riders in smaller groups, which led to two of the wins
Meanwhile, Tour of Turkey will probably be a big success. 2 stages left, but the GC is mine. At the mountain stage, Wellens got 2nd, 20 seconds behind Santambrogio. On a later stage, with an hill close to the end, Wellens escaped with a few others in a late attack. (Didn't win stage, but stayed away from peloton and took over GC lead). Also, Van der Sande took a stage-win, and the KoM jersey.
2 stages left, he's still contender for the points jersey, so we'll focus on that
Also guys, I've got a question.
What decides whether the team promotes or not, CQ ranking or Conti rankings? I always thought CQ, but Continental is what the 'rules' in Career mode says...

My understanding is that the top Continental Ranking teams will get promoted, generally though these also reflect the top continental teams in the CQ ranking.
As always I started a career from scratch. I had a hard time moving up to the UCI World Tour, and it took my 4 years I think. My main focus in this career, was to develop young riders, I never sign good riders, or at least not stars.
My biggest star in 2020 is Will Parker. A rider from USA, which is multitalented rider. Will Parkers major win was in the Tour de France 2019, where he won the points jersey. You can check out Will Parker down below, where I've posted a screenshot, and recorded my last stage from my career
