In Dutch we call it "staartbeentje" literally: tailbone. But I guess you can say that in English as well, no? |

 12th September 2011 - Tour of Britain
(Stoke-on-Trent - Stoke-on-Trent)
Today is the first day of 3 difficult stages for the riders. The peleton heads out from Stoke-on-Trent towards the Peak District, crossing the well known local climb of Gunn Hill.
The team will look to keep everything together today, wanting to limit any losses I may lose on the climbs. I want to keep hold of Yellow for as long as possible.
12km: A break of 5 riders got away at the beginning of the stage, and yet again, we sent Isaac up the road.
18km: For the second stage running, the break's size grew to over 15 riders, and yet again the peleton did not seem happy with that.
32km: The lead group never got more than 1'43" on the peleton, and soon it was pulled back as we headed towards the Peak District.
52km: On the climb of Gunn Hill, further attacks went off the front, created two groups up the road.
61km: Martin Elmiger (AG2R) took the points over the top of Gunn Hill, and as they climbed towards the next KoM sprint, Andy Fenn (An Post) tried to bridge the gap to the escapees.
66km: Sadly for Isaac, he could not keep with the pace of the breakaway, and he was soon dropped.
68km: In fact, the climb was blowing holes in the breakaway group, and leaving riders to fend for themselves. Luckily for Isaac, Elminger failed to take full points, so keeps hold of his KoM jersey for one more stage at least.
75km: The climb was clearly harder than most riders thought. The peleton had split in several places, and only 42 remained as the route turned back towards Stoke.
89km: Albasini lead the peleton, and with the help of BMC, the time to lead group began to fall.
101km: With 20km to go, the break was down to just 6 riders, and had a good 3'56" gap over the peleton.
110km: Elminger was the first to make the move from the break in a bid for glory. It looked a decisive move, as no one wanted to react.
121km: And he stormed to victory! Fantastic win for the Swiss rider. The rest of the break came in 1'13", whilst I won the bunch sprint of the peleton to take 7th, and hold onto the Leaders Jersey.
