But yea ok, will head to a travel agent to see what the best options are.

Be sure to visit Czech Republic, best county for chill-out travelling. Grin

Starting up a blog. I need a good name. Does anyone have any ideas. It's gonna be about my life but without people knowing it's me.

Surely you should have a topic before a name? That will give you more ideas about names.

I'm planning to travel around Europe at the end of the year Smile

What is best for travel? Should I book it all before I go? Or just fly to a major city (ie: London/Paris/Amsterdam/Berlin) and catch trains/buses around Europe from there?

I know this is a weird question, but it's because in Australia you need to book most of this in advance, but our economy is tiny compared to europe.

Interrail is pretty awesome, as Atlantius posted. I travelled with Interrail for three weeks through France and Spain about two years ago. The great thing is that you're very flexible. I planned a bit beforehand, of course, but I ended up staying at certain places longer than I originally wanted because I liked it a lot, and also, some places were less interesting than I thought, so I left earlier.

I'd also advise you to get a youth hostel passport (you can get one here, I think). I don't know what it's like in Australia but in my experience, youth hostels in Europe are decent places to stay at pretty low expenses. And the network is pretty huge.

As for the places you want to go, it depends a bit what you want. Cities like Prague, Amsterdam, Paris or Berlin are great but could be quite cold at the end of the year. Weather-wise, the Côte d'Azur, Spain (I can warmly recommend Barcelona) and Italy are probably better then.

It's going to be a blog of just all different topics. What every I feel like writing about that day. So it's like a diary but not. I just need a name. Like an eye catching name

Looking forward to tonights Bruce Springsteen concert.

Luckily the weather is fine today after a week of stormy days. So the open air concert should become brilliant.

Whoa nice Smile I'd like that, too. Then again, I'll be seeing Phoenix in two weeks, which is pretty awesome as well.

Went to see Bastille, Jake Bugg and Paloma Faith last night. Bastille were ok, but the other two were amazing, even though I'm not a Paloma Faith fan, I enjoyed it.

If you come to Oudenaarde to see the Flemish Ardennes, I'll be happy to give you a cycling tour Grin

I had my girlfriend convinced to go there on our trip so that I could see the Ronde museum. It is just an immensely hard place to get to because there doesn't seem to be a Eurostar line close by so I had to give it a miss. One day I'll go!

Well that's because you shouldn't expect the Eurostar to stop at Oudenaarde Rolling Eyes Pfft

If you want to get to Oudendaarde from outside of Belgium with an international train then you could transfer at Brussels to a local intercity train to Gent, then take the 1 and a half hour bus to Oudenaarde, and then just spend the night there Smile

Technically, according to Google Maps you can also take the bus from Brussels to Aalst, then the bus to Zottegem, then the bus to Oudenaarde, but I wouldn't recommend that.

Logghje
Or just take the train from Brussels South (where the Eurostar stops) to Kortrijk-Poperinge, which also stops in Zottegem and Oudenaarde  And it takes only 46 minutes from Brussels South to Oudenaarde Pfft

If you are not cycling there you are not a cyclist, simple as

Yeah that was the problem. In a 3 week trip I'm not willing to take two days out of the trip just to see this museum. If it had been near a Eurostar station (which is how we are getting everywhere) then it wouldn't have been a problem.

But you should schedule a trip where you spend a few days there. It's really a great environment to take some cycle routes. There even is a Ronde Van Vlaanderen route which you could follow (don't worry, it's not the real RvV profile). And also smaller routes Wink
