Some maxed stats:

And we're off! Draft pick number one was for Kone-Nordea. His first choice got picked up late in the FA, so we're down to his number two. The 23 year old Dane Dennis Lock is the first drafted rider of this season. It will be his first professional cycling experience. Decent physical stats and potential as an uphill domestique. Hates cobbles, time trialling and prologues.

Solid nordic talent with some glaring weaknesses. Not a big fan of this pick but there will be worse riders picked later. Young, regional, nice energy stats, i can see why he was picked.
Really like Holmes as a well rounded puncheur domestique.

Number three pick is for Parmalat - Ecopetrol. Their number one pick shortly seemed to be on his way to another team, but MGUCI denied the FA bid too late. Thus, The 32 year old Dutchman Martijn Tusveld will be part of the Italian - Colombian team for the upcoming season. Will be a nice domestique for the stage racing department, that's for sure. Tusveld was part of Everesting last season, the last time he got a free agent contract before that was in 2016, as part of TVM - Beslist.nl

And a one, and a two, and a three. IncaLine Pro Cycling goes local and decides two Gonzales' in the team are not enough, as they pick the Peruvian 27 year old Andre Alexander Gonzales. The not yet maxed rider was picked up in the 2020 CT draft by Los Pollos Hermanos, loaned out to Colombini the year after, and was never given the chance to fully develop. With a Peruvian team in the peloton now, that is possibly about to change.

Thought about Tusveld. Stamina got me, but very good pick for a CT team.

Final first pick for one of the new teams now, as Team Zappes Kölsch get their number one pick in the 28 year old Portuguese that is Tiago Antunes. He is not maxed yet, so there is the possibility to improve in the future still, this season he'll act as an uphill domestique. This will be the first professional cycling experience for him.

Not everybody gets their first draft pick, as we're already quite low on the list submitted by Air New Zealand-Prada. Their pick, the 31 year old former Luxembourgian national champon Sven Fritsch, can score some points nonetheless. Just like Holmes he can be either a puncheur domestique or try to go for some glory himself.

Tusveld is a very solid pickup. One of the better allround / MO & TTT pickups available so if thats what the team was looking for, they got a nice one.
| Nat. | Name | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | | Andre Alexander Gonzales | 69 | 72 | 73 | 73 | 63 | 71 | 71 | 72 | 62 | 65 | 73 | 72 | 67 | 61 |
Solid local pickup. I kinda like that they only picked him up in the draft because the odds of him getting a contract by a non-peruvian team was fairly slim even when they dont get to max him this season without a loan.
| Nat. | Name | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | | Tiago Antunes | 66 | 68 | 70 | 72 | 61 | 70 | 70 | 71 | 59 | 62 | 69 | 68 | 66 | 61 |
First pick that i really dont understand. Cant level him up this year, there seem better puncheurs available and just seems very random
Sven Fritsch - 2016 LBL winner deserves a contract for that win alone.

Bianchi Enel is next! Just like the previous team they are going for a former national champion, in their case it's one from Croatia. Robert Sangulin is a very solid allrounder, and has not yet won Liege - Bastogne - Liege, I think. He will enjoy his last year in his prime in CT, let's hope for Bianchi he can help them in their promotion battle as good as he knows how to ride downhill.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it is THE ONE - Fox God arriving with their draft pick Pelayo Sanchez! The 25 year old Spaniard can be an okay stage racing domestique, if fully developed. We'll find out at the end of the season if he is the one-derful pick the team is hoping for.
| Nat. | Name | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | XP | Age | Pot | | Pelayo Sanchez | 64 | 66 | 66 | 66 | 64 | 68 | 67 | 69 | 58 | 62 | 63 | 63 | 62 | 63 | 1.0 | 25 | 4 |

Although a Spanish talent wouldn't be unthinkable for Euskotren - Pays Basque either, they are going for French experience with their first draft pick. Alexis Gougeard is good on the flat, can help in team time trials and will not get dropped too quickly uphill and on cobbles either. Alexis' previous team was Assa Abloy, let's see if the experience at a higher level is beneficial for his new team.
| Nat. | Name | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | XP | Age | | Alexis Gougeard | 73 | 66 | 68 | 70 | 70 | 72 | 76 | 70 | 68 | 64 | 65 | 78 | 64 | 72 | 4.100 | 32 |

Pretty sure Alexis already was with us last season
But yeah, all round domestique work is why we took him, after we signed our first choice in the FA

Ethiopian Airlines listened to wise words spoken (written) by wise men earlier today, as their pick is the one and only Hugo Nunes. Not to be mistaken with legendary striker Nuno Gomes. The 29 year old Portugese is an eternal talent up to today, who would have been paid decently in today's market as a 22 year old. It's his first fulltime contract, after having only received stagiaire contracts in the past by jph27 and Gustavovskiy.

From the airlines to the ocean, as SEE Turtles are up. I wouldn't take the boat from Ethiopia to Canada though, where their draft pick is hiding. The 27 year old Canadian Lewis Stroll will be a stage racing domestique for the upcoming season, after his contract didn't get renewed at Cervélo during the off-season.

Euskadi-Murias does not have the youngest team in the division, but did decide on signing one of the only 22 year old remaining with their draft pick. The Belgian Leander Van Hautegem will not be the biggest aid in time trials, but can evolve into an okay uphill domestique with decent physical stats, without being too bad on the flat like some other climbers.
| Nat. | Name | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | XP | Age | Pot | | Leander Van Hautegem | 68 | 67 | 67 | 67 | 58 | 69 | 70 | 69 | 62 | 64 | 63 | 69 | 68 | 59 | 1.0 | 22 | 3 |

Stroll was the top man on my list (that wasn't picked up right before the deadline). He should be able to contribute in TTTs and general stage racing squads. Might also see a number of classics where we need a general domestique with potential to make a break or two. Unlikely to be a point scorer, but should really shore up some 7th/8th roster slots in races we didn't know what to do with AND actually contribute positively in those efforts.

Next in line are the Norwegians from Tafjord Kraft. Their first pick is the 29 year old Brit James Shaw. He will probably not be the one to go for stage glory himself, but is a solid domestique in the mountains and hills.
