Pretty boring availability, but I think it kinda makes sense.

A lot of changes to be made I see. Quite interesting what your plans are. Well I guess I can guess atleast one...

Interesting to see Phinney still staying with you, but I guess he's still a strong rider at a 500K wage, if the secondary stats isn't going to kill him. Enough decent short GC races for him to score points though.

Phinney is the weird one in the plannings.

Last year I didn`t plan to get him in transfers and once I got him, I missed all the PTHC TT bands for obvious reasons beforehand. So his scoring was pretty solid seeing, that a lot came from non TT mountain events.

This year I was in the struggle to consider bands again and decided to at least not ignore the PTHC TT stuff again. This obviously means, without Phinney, I would have many races unsuited again, which was the main reason. But I indeed have a bit of a fear as well regarding his declined stats in the backup area. Time will tell.

@others: Can understand the boringness. Wink But with just 1-2 riders that might have been on many transfer plans, it`s clear, that those are also high on mine. Pfft

Welcoming the first batch of new riders

It`s been a calm and still active first few days on the transfer market.
Active as the most happened on the FA market with usually a full day of maximum bids allowed and on several riders and switching from one to the next.
Calm as on the deal side not a lot had happened and only minor moves so far. Something untypical for the team`s transfer history.

Other than that we are happy to welcome a couple of riders back to the team after having them already before but at one point decided to move elsewhere.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPR Wage
Daniel Vesely72596756736774568079607056 250.000

First of the main leader coming in from FA and a rider type that was hugely missed last year. Obviously, he is none of the top3-4 FA sprinters - not that I didn`t try though - but he was on the cheaper side of FA deals I`d say. 250k might be no bargain, but he should be able to help us to score in many races, we couldn`t really deliver at all last season.
Vesely has a nice history for the team already and even at age 33 he should be up there to sprint for the positions.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPR Wage
Loic Vliegen71677761767070686674716967 50.000

Loic Vliegen is the next rider with a former team history with us. Back then he was maybe our top puncheur support and showed up nicely also on himself in breaks and great support performances. A similar role with maybe some more freedom and less pressure on him alone might be expected in 2025. At age 32 it`s last prime season and to be honest, he might be one of the younger riders being added this year.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPR Wage
Dylan Teuns67747763717174506570696459 50.000

Just like his country man, Dylan Teuns comes to us for the minimum wage of 50k from the FA market. While being a bit older already, he seems to be an even bigger steal as his skill set will be very helpful and might even move him into the luxury domestique for Vansevenant or even the climbers. For that wage an absolute no-brainer to add him as Belgium/puncheur focussed team.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPR Wage
Andrea Dal Col68556176656763515965625975 50.000

The team might no longer be half Italian, but the history of Italian top riders is big. Dal Col adds some depth to the TT squad, which might have a lot more to do in 2025 with Taylor Phinney being around. A veteran with a 1-year contract to help whereever he can.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPR Wage
Vito Braet69606658707163686867626064 50.000

The former watch list of top talents had been long, but in the end wages went through the roof and we decided to not play this game this season. As PT team it`s additionally hard to go for neo-pros without spending huge amount of additional money and so we are happy to sign young Belgium alrounder Vito Braet as our level 1 talent. He had some experience last year though, not being a pure neo pro and this helps us bringing him from level 1-3 by ourselves even in the PT division. Time will tell what kind of rider he might become.

on loan:

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPR Wage
Kaden Hopkins70606568726873557777636875 50.000

Kaden Hopkins surely a rider with quality coming in from loan. With the addition of Vesely, he will get some veteran leadership and surely is there for some support duties while also having some freedom here and there. He is joining for the year coming from Podium Ambition.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPR Wage
Harold Martin Lopez64747167687169586266636365 50.000

Similar to Florian Lipowitz last year, a climbing talent joins us in Harold Martin Lopez from the SEE Turtles. He should be a decent support in GTs and mountaineous stage races for Phinney and co. to move back to their original team the year after.

Vesely and Teuns are two really nice signings on those wages. Congrats there!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

cunego59
Two former Bralirwa riders here in Vliegen and Teuns. They were mixed bags for us, I hope they can deliver for you Smile

Fabianski
Some good support for Vansevenant there, and a sprinter that's still pretty cool! Looks like you're set to improve on last year's result Smile

roturn
@knockout/Fabianski: I hope Vesely will still be up there justifying the 250 k wage, which indeed is a lot nicer than many other sprinters with just +1. Surely an upgrade to 78/75 Bauhaus last season and any point in sprint stages will surely help to score more consistent.

@cunego/all: Haven`t really remembered, both had been with you. In the end it`s just about support luckily, none of them has to really show up themselves, which would just be a bonus. Vansevenant clearly improved his support this season.

Next batch of riders in (and one unfortunately out)

With Vliegen and Vesely we already signed with 2 former riders and it`s not the end yet. One comeback though also comes with a big loss. Steff Cras leaves the team joining the DeNA Roadstars for his own chances. He amazingly showed his skills last year on the highest level in a GT competition. This year though his schedule wasn`t really good for him as his support tasks improved and leader tasks heavily reduced with Phinney and Wellens still ahead of him despite further ageing. Hence the decision to let him go but we are happy to announce it was in a good rider swap deal, that sends back two big pieces including the mentioned comeback.

OUT:
Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRAge Wage
Steff Cras6878727378777758606761677029 170.000

As we heard, he had a very solid offseason, feeling stronger than ever and at age 29 he is ready for his prime going for own glory a lot more. And as this transfers show, never say never as he is always welcome to make a comeback.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRAge Wage
Harm Vanhoucke7177727271727663676872707328 105.000

It`s not always easy to re-consider a rider schedule for the season once he got traded. This time though it`s very simple seeing that Harm Vanhoucke has such a similar skillset. Basically we get a Cras light here, 1 year younger, less wage, a tiny bit less climbing and TT. After being with us already before we exactly know what we get and are looking forward seeing him in the climbing support and in especially GT races.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRAge Wage
Ruben Guerreiro7176776273737763727261676231 200.000

The next rider in that same swap is Ruben Guerreiro. He really delivered last year for former team Würth and should be a very valuable asset for us. His main strength is the hills and he immediately will become the top support for Vansevenant, though his climbing is pretty superior for a puncheur making him a very strong hybrid, which likely sees him also in the climbing support and more important it`s a perfect skillset for some own attacks as well, in especially as his punch out of small groups shouldn`t be underestimated neither.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRAge Wage
Travis Stedman7059705769706658717261676023 50.000
Travis Stedman7762736073747061747667706323 MAX

Last but not least another talent in Travis Stedman. He might not be the top talent of this years FA pool but as he already had some experience being on 2.0 he is the kind of rider that can be developed as a PT team. He already is decent in several areas such as shorter hills and sprinting making him a solid allrounder in the future. One possible development way is making him a very solid allrounder with a big engine, which also could be combined with a bit more strength on the uphill of course.

Really like the look of Steldman, but didn't pull the trigger fast enough. Should be a fun rider to develop as there's a few ways to do it.

@bbl: Clearly no world beater and likely always a helper only with some chances from breaks. Good rider to have and a nice 50k filler anyway.
Good for me then, that you didn`t consider him fast enough.

@TMM: Hope so. He will have most of the race days alongside Vesely as support (as if a leadout is needed even).
Though having 1 GT and a couple of "sprint leader" races, e.g. in the triple header, he should be fine. And I guess, you might like the idea of him being chosen to ride for glory in the TT classic.

Final Signings - Transfers Done

And done! The team is complete. Incredible 26 riders in total, maybe even the most ever in a long history and more than the usual 21-23. Focus this year was not only to get some leader for each terrain again but in especially add more depth, we we were able to do in TTs, cobbles, hills at least. The support squad on each terrain will at least be 4-5 solid domestiques, which in especially on the paves was a bit struggle last year.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRAge Wage
Josh Atkins7453677772737065606169637633 150.000

Wage wise almost leader qualities as Atkins went for 150k in the end. Quite a bit more than we had hoped for but after missing out on the Oceanic TT double, the decision was made to go all-in on him to get a decent enough TTT squad. Next to Salas he might be the key element in the TT support but also adds at least mediocre skills on the falt and even cobbles to be considered 7th or 8th squad rider there as well.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRAge Wage
Thibault Guernalec6969727466737260636463657428 80.000

Once again, welcome back, I guess. We could surely signed him for less in renewals but back then the decision was to update the TT squad a bit more as even after maxing him we went for other plans first. Though once the Oceanic double failed as mentioned above, he became the next optionand obviously adds a bit more climbing skills as pure TT riders.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRAge Wage
Tom David7058716170686174666764666135 50.000

Tom David is another Kiwi joining us this offseason. He always was an interestingly skill rider but also other teams like this full package a lot. While his palmares might never reached the expectations maybe, he developed into a nice support rider for the hard classics and Van Hooydonck is happy to have him around for those.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRAge Wage
Christoph Taubel7056625764686475585969715734 50.000

Same for Taubel. Both cobble riders have signed small contracts for the cobbles only/mainly. As one of the best unbid riders left for the cobbles, it was a no brainer to go for him to hopefully solve the lack of support in the 2nd half of the classics.

Nat.NameFLMOHITTSTRSRCCBSPACFGDHPRAge Wage
Sakarias Koller Loland7164686370746866677374736324 50.000

Last but not least a small loan-in. The 3rd in total and a rider that might not stand out in any individual area, but is a nice alrounder being semi decent everywhere. He will ride a lot of races learning from the team on highest level, so that he can go back improved for his actual Gjensidige squad.

And this is it. All riders in, no plans to change anything, planning is done. Season can start.

AbhishekLFC
No real big name movements, but the team was already quite set before transfers, so the support staff pickups should only add to that!

Probably less than you think. Got no big money in this year as only De Kleijn left for 50k.
And it`s not like I did well in goals in the last couple years.

Doing the best to create a retirement home for "veterans" Grin But some decent doms nontheless. I really like Stedman. Didn't catch him while developping talents in the DB myself. Well not like that atleast Smile

Yes, age wasn't on my side this FA pool. Average of 32+ for new signings.
Though as it's all one year deals only, it's just the stats at the moment.

Stedman wasn't the highest on the list as I originally planned to go for a top top talent. Though prices showed me quickly, it's not going to be cheap if also paying for the clause then. It quickly became the 2nd or 3rd tier talent list which I am able to develop myself. And he was a nice pick there. Not really my regional focus, which I used to keep for talents at least but liked his stats.
