Strong ride by Sicard. Happy with the performance fron Stake Laengen, would be good if he can keep himself around that place.

Oh great, PCM18 hates Monsalve for no good reason as well. |

Would obviously have been ideal to have Galta in the first group of favourites, as that would have put him in a great position regarding the overall.
A minor GC placing just outside the top 10 looks likely now, which will be okay and just around where we could expect him to finish pre-race.
Thank you for the report, Tamijo! Must say I enjoyed that one, with some unexpected action among the GC riders |

What a weird, weird climb.

Losing rather big time to Sicard ain't nice though. But no need to panic at this point. At least we kinda managed to keep Gesink at the same time as the chasing group.
A pretty good summary of my feelings as well.
It has to be mentioned that dropping Madrazo by THIS much is a massive win for everyone up there and should remove him from the equation.
This means that Herklotz only has to find a way to drop Sicard and Gesink tomorrow, which is hard but doable.
Getting back to around s.t. with Sicard could be enough for the TT then, while I'd like a buffer to Gesink before that looking at the similar Giro TT.
So therefore I would very much enjoy gapping both Sicard and Gesink by around a minute tomorrow. We have to race in a way that reflects this goal.

That was horrible, Madrazo. Getting dropped that easily in a mountain stage is embarassing for a climber of your caliber.

NZ future-GT winner Dion Smith with a great ride there
It’s been an interesting season to see which riders do and don’t work well with the PCM18 formulas, some just have absolutely no luck.
A shame to miss the break on a day like this, but hopefully with Brenes sucking he can go for a stage win now.
Thanks for the report!

Definately not a good race for us. Atleast Bongiorno woke up, and joined the break in the end, thus maybe managing a top 40 GC result... but that is about it...

Sicard again looking very strong. Looks like he'll be tough to beat here!
Initially very disappointed that we didn't get a man in the break, so it was great to see the work to get Stake Laengen across. Looked like a big energy kind of day for him, but in the end a good result and he's now sitting very nicely in the GC. Hopefully he doesn't have to pay too much for this effort on the hilly stage tomorrow.
Thanks for the report, Tamijo!

Was a bit annoyed, neither Velits or Dekker went into the break today.
Then even more when the first sign of Aegon was Dekker leading the favourite group for basically no reason at all instead.
Further down first sign of Velits as well, crossing the line in 7th! All the annoying stopped and I was pretty impressed by his ride and Dekker chasing finally made sense. Must have been a big +5 day here for him moving up in the GC and gapping some others. Nicely done.
Congrats to Sicard, once again the strongest here surprisingly but it`s his home race, so fair enough. Surprised to see the big riders struggling. Herklotz, Gesink, Madrazo.
Thanks for the report! |

Ok much better. Still not the dominating performance we hope for, but stage podium and gaining some time back on many riders is a solid result.
Some beautiful screenshots Tamijo.

Sicard with a monster race, wow.
Still a nice result for Morton, who "motors" himself to a 2nd place and gains valuable seconds on Gesink and Herklotz! Not sure, if Smith's late attack was the right choice though, maybe he should have pulled a move for Morton instead. Still nice to see him confident and trying something special. Paid for it at the end, but still in a nice GC position.

Too bad the break didn't resist. At least Aru has a decent place in the GC now.

Dropping a spot isn't great by Galta, and 13th looks like the likely result as it stands now.
Luckily, seeing the gaps behind him, that seems to be the minimum, meaning if he gets it right on the "hilly" stage, or has a great day on the TT, he could maybe advance and get closer to the top 10. That must be the goal for the final two stages here.
Difficult to see Sicard lose this race from here. Congratulations again, CT! Curious to see how the final two stages play out for the other two podium places. Morton and Kudus weren't the favourites for such places going into this race, but maybe they can pull it off here. |

Monsalve should have been top 10 as a minimum, Yates top 15 at a minimum. At a total loss to explain how they're 16th and 18th seeing the riders in front of them.
It's random underperformances like this that will be to blame for our relegation - nothing about their stats compared to similar riders ahead of them here explains it (if anything they have better stats than almost all the other 81/79 MO riders here). |

Solid performance after yesterdays disappointment. Good to see Wellens up there, it wont secure us retention or anything, but its nice to see

Morton is a 84 climber after all
But I won't be too optimistic as for now. He's that kind of guy, who always can have a bad day and destroy a podium position easily.

Yeah, but I still had Madrazo, Herklotz, Gesink and Sicard ahead of him due to the hillyish stuff going into the race. In my book, a podium by him here will very good. |

Yes, that's true. I would gladly take any podium position for the final GC here. Top-5 was always the minimum goal, anything else is a nice bonus. The next stage should be interesting indeed. Dunno, how hard the better puncheurs ride the stage. Obviously rooting for a less selective race, even though Morton's hill disadvantage ain't that overwhelming (except for Gesink).
