Nice ride through that long, nasty-looking descent with no crashes.
Groenewegen completing his hat-trick of victories in GTs this year and we're just starting the Vuelta. Congrats roturn! One of the best sprinters of the season surely!
Nevertheless gotta admit I was rooting for Aker. ember and I had similar fates in the Giro, so it'd be cool to see them winning after us. Anyhow, promising start for Enger.

Great effort from Santos here. Definately didn't expect these sort of results from him. Coquard could have been good in this pack, but I ain't even sure he would have done better on a stage like this.
Happy with the first two stages. Now for the more defining ones.

Not a bad result there from Zardini managing to squeeze into the Top 10.

That was a great stage! Guldhammer and Galta staying safe, and then Vangstad somehow being capable of doing one long pull to bring Holst Enger in a decent position for the sprint. And also Holst Enger duly delivered, holding on to second place despite having to launch early.
Definitely an encouraging start, and maybe we can even commit more riders to the leadout. Maybe even Guldhammer could be a rider for the job. Though, the "easier" solution is probably to get on Groenewegen's wheel, as his train seems to be on point. Congratulations on the win, roturn!
This should be a moral boost for the whole team, and hopefully Guldhammer can keep the "momentum" and take advantage of the hills on stage 3. On paper, it looks like a great stage for him, though, Bellis could be very difficult to beat. At least he's the clear favourites in my view.
And thank you for the nice reports, Tamijo, and the pace they're coming with too! |

Houle looked at least the 2nd strongest their better positioning and this could be a very fruitful tour for him and the team tomorrow is going to be very interesting to if we go with Houle or Duchesne for the stage I'm very exicted |

Pluichkin already firing! Just small gains now but a warning to the others. Love that finishing shot of him.
Jumpy stage with the traditional early stage nerves, very well reported though Tamijo!

First GT stage win, and of course it had to be Pluchkin. Amazing stuff, good haul of points early on. Shame Nepomnyachsniy lost some time though, will possibly hurt his GC ambitions a bit. Also really scary to enter the first mountains wearing te leaders jersey knowing the team, aside from Kononenko and Nepomnyachsniy is not really strong... But then again, the leaders jersey may give the Moldovan a good bonus, potentially making him untouchable from now on.

Pluchkin on to a big scoring show?
In the end it depends if Schleck can distance him in the mountains, otherwise this could be a huge points haul for Pluchkin from now onwards.
For my own team Olivier was very well placed and the hill training seems to have paid here. Though Keizer also in the mix and this is how I need the hill stages to work out.
Next two stages will be thrilling now with the full action already happening in the first week. Hope Keizer can keep contact for a late top10 while Olivier also showing his skills. |

Well done Kozontchuk (should copy-paste) for getting in the break again and keeping the KoM jersey. That's how it's done in a team w/o any hopes of scoring anything. gratz to the win. Pluchkin already making a mark early on.

Pluchkin in red before the first mountain test is very interesting, as the pressure is on Schleck now! Congratulations on the stage, fjhoekie
A pity Guldhammer was poorly placed and had to make up a lot of ground, as his kick, taking him well inside the top 10, seemed strong, but obviously he faded quite a bit as he had to start early. Though, no time lost is good. The same goes for Galta, which is above expected. Kind of excited to see how they play their cards on stage 4, seeing they're both up there.
Holst Enger defending a current top 10 in the overall is also funny. Hopefully he'll still have some energy left when it actually matters, on the flat stages |

A great stage for Lammertink but in the end he has nothing to show for. Brambilla looking better than in Giro which is encouraging.

Great result from Alexander there, could being in the jersey just be the upper hand he needs over Andy?
6th from Preidler here is awesome, even though I hope he looses a lot of time on a stage soon so that he is allowed to go into breakaways. Considered training him this season, but his stats has shown to be awesome in breaks / getting KoMs before, so I hope that can happen here.
Also a big surprise to see Stauff among the favorites on the flat stages, really hope he can get a podium or 3.

Pretty great start for us, 4th and 3rd place stage finishes plus 2nd in KoM so far is better than I could have ever have asked for. Monsalve really should be fighting for the lower reaches of the top 10 which I'm hopeful he will, while Bellis may go surprisingly strongly in the sprints looking at this field - accidentally sending him here has worked out it seems |

Another good stage performance here. Lecuisinier is alert.
Too bad that Novak crashed. Although he didn't seem hurt.

I like how sharp the team and Madrazo look so far. Always near the front with lots of riders. That does make it quite disappointing that Madrazo wasn't able to fight for the stage win with Pluchkin and Schleck though.

Would have liked to see something from Haugard Jensen here, or will he work as a helper for Abal in every hilly stage?
Positive to see Abal not loosing time to GC contenders atleast.
Hope Ludvigsson is not to injured. |

Haig in the first group. Good. Gunman at least trying to join the early break. But yet another anonymous stage after that. Even Haig got no mention. Something that will hopefully change later on!
