The amount of TT is good, it balances out the more than usual number of climbs for GC contenders. 100km of flat time trialling will force climbers to make use of the mountain stages, which are well designed.
You have a good point in that, but he's not claiming the overall length of TT, rather the frequenzy. In the end, there is no need for a prologue, because I already have long timetrial stages. Those 4km's will not change that much and as I'm still not sure of the last mountain-stage it can be also possible that I cut some mountain out of the profile.
@ lluuiiggii
Yeah, finally got your broad hint

Tour de France new Variant: 1/21
Stage 1: Nice - Saint Raphael
Length: 185km
Type: Hilly
Profile:

Developer-"Blog":
The outcome of the race was fine, even there were no gaps between the top 3. 1st group contained mostly GT-Contenders and Hilly-riders with 50 seconds to a huge pack and 1'27 to the last ones. Saw some problems with "flying" boats that I have to set to the sea-level^^. This was no mass-sprint, so the attack of the stagewinner came on the bottom of that short climb before the sprint. Btw, sorry for that german language, wanted to set my game to english, but since I bought this game via Steam there is no english language. I don't have that good graphic-card as well, so expect this should be look way better on your pc

That is a beastly climb to have on the opening day of a Grand Tour
I would love it if Prudhomme came up with a route like this. |

It looks bigger and steeper than its actually is^^. The peleton had no problem to pass the two climbs. But thanks. |

As I wrote, I don't take this as an offense from nathounet87, not at all. I was just saying that he could be more precise, because besides that "Top Galibier"-Thing I don't know exactly what he is talking about. Btw, as I'm now watching on these created stages again I would make a lot of thing differently (better). As you mentioned somewhere else, its not that good idea to begin with a GT when you a "noob" on stagemaking. So with more than 130 created stages I do have now some more expierence in making good ones. At least I have the feeling
I can be more precised
Col du Galibier :

IRL, max slope of the Galibier is 12% (a 100m part) and 10% for the rest.
Col du Télégraphe :

IRL, 5.5 % max !
Col de la Madeleine :

To compare, here is mine :

Madeleine downhill :

Courchevel :

I hope it will help you |

Okay thanks, I thought you were mention other stages regarding your "crazy slopes". Anyway, I will take another look into the whole 2000 tour, at least the mountain stages. I will make this better and upload it soon. But I do not make 1:1 slopes. I will look that I have no big mistake in there, but I don't care about having for example on 5 km exactly the same percentage as in real life. I will care about the average percentages, that no climb will have much bigger max percentages than in real life and that the complete picture looks good. Also I will make the downhills a bit more flatter. But as I said, don't expect me to rebuild the exactly replication. As long as there are no crazy slopes and you can identify the mountain, this works for me (at least in this variant).
Btw, thanks for picturing my mistakes, even it would been enough if you just told me the climbs you're not comfortable with. |

Tour de France new Variant: 2/21
Stage 2: Fréjus - Marseille
Length: 228km
Type: Flat
Profile:

Climbs:
Developer-"Blog":
Stage worked as desired. The KOM-Sprints made the Stage very interesting to watch as there are also a decent number of points to gain. As the stage came near the finish it got very windy so the peleton split up probably with 30km's left. Some Climbers got caught by this and lost 1-3 minutes. In the end because of those mountains and the length of the stage it was a very hard race which results in that Cavendish had not enough left in his legs to come in first. Btw, I changed the route. Thought this version would be more interesting.

Tour de France new Variant: 3/21
Stage 3: Aix-en-Provence - Pertuis
Length: 41km
Type: TTT, Flat
Profile:

Developer-"Blog":
As getting rid of the opening prologue I decided to set the TTT earlier in this Tour. 1) The next stage comes the Mont Ventoux and after that some sprint-stages. I'm worried about the fact its possible that some weak climbing-teams don't finish in time on Mont Ventoux and too many riders maybe abondon because of crashes etc. So the game needs 5 riders per team otherwise it will crash. Better safe than sorry. 2) As TheManxMissile mentioned, there are timetrials to come, all in the 2nd and 3rd week. So it shouldn't be that horrible idea to move the TTT to the beginning of the tour. 3) I also like the idea of having 4 different types of stages at the beginning.^^
Regarding the gameplay: Nothing unusual, typical ttt-stage and very small gaps by the way.

If you want it to play as a Variant you have to wait unfortunately till I'm finished. But I will make an guide of how it will work. If you want just a single stage of them in your career you can edit the DB. Just look in STA_stages for the Stage you want to replace and change the last column to Bigggassi. Of course on condition you places the stage files in your CM_Stages-Folder. |

Tour de France new Variant: 4/21
Stage 4: Salon-de-Provence - Mont Ventoux
Length: 190km
Type: Mountain
Profile:

Climbs:

Developer-"Blog": Made some changes to the original route, because I already left Marseille on Stage 3 and put in some small climbs to make the game not too boring in the middle. The result I saw pleased me very much. In my opinion the best stage I made this far. Saw some missing road-marks as well which I will correct of course.

The Ventoux and the screens are looking really nice, keep it going
ps.: like the wide roads at the end of flat stages, hopefully they're in the middle as well, makes gameplay much better

Thank you.
Unfortunately there are mostly '2' roads in the middle of the stages, yet. I just used wider roads in big cities, but I will reconsider this for the next stages. Tested all created stages and had no problems so far regarding the gameplay, especially because I set long road points. But you're right, it shouldn't hurt to use them more often. |

Stage 6: Montpellier - Revel
Length: 194km
Type: Flat
Profile:

Developer-"Blog":
Flat stage with a quick visit into the massif central, which brings two climbs with it. Besides this, its an easy stage, mostly flat and good for the sprinters. As lluuiiggii addressed, I used more wide roads on the flatter parts of the stage to get the gameplay more smoother.

Thank you, I am a bit of a newbie to PCM and I don't really know much about the technical side of the game. I have no problems to wait until you're finished |

Stage 7: Toulouse - Cazeres
Length: 194km
Type: Flat
Profile:

Climbs:

Developer-"Blog":
Original was the TTT planned here, but as I moved it to begin of the Tour and don't want to make further serious adjustments to the route I had to improvise a little bit. So, I created a route which lead the peleton from Toulouse to the foot of (but not into) the pyrenees to Cazeres. So we can see here another shot for the sprinters even the stage is not that easy. The test I ran approved this, because some sprinters couldn't sprint as they are normaly able to.
