Maybe for TDU you can do it a variant flat, like tour of qatar, with a TTT or a prologue.
Stage 1: Prologue or TTT
and the others only for sprinters.

I hate that this classic has cobbled sections
It actually includes cobbled sections irl too.
A TDU variant sounds good. I've seen that nathounet87 has created one, but I certainly wouldn't mind having two variants for it.

TDU coming along nicely
not sure when it will be finished though
I start Uni on saturday so ill have a lot less time. Most of my time will be spent on my story, but i hope to finish and upload the TDU in the first week.
After that i've decided to try a GT variant.. I know it seems odd when i have less time to take on a big project. But its something i can dip in and out of when i can, and where slow progress is to be expected
I'm gonna do a Giro Variant, as there are loads of Tour variants and i dont know Spain well enough.
I'll post a route soon, and would appreciate some thoughts when i do.
A bit of info:
Depart - Cagliari (TTT)
3 days on Sardinia
3 ascents of Etna
A finish on the Autodromo Imola
2 ascents of Zoncolan
Finish - Milan (ITT)
2xITT 1xTTT 10flat 2hill 6mountain

good news here, I think there can't be enough variants out there, at least in my opinion. Regarding your published informations I'm very interested in how the route will look like. |

Variant Introduction
Stage 1;
A 40km TTT round the city of Cagliari. That of course means race begins on Sardinia. This has the potential to put the pure climbers on the back foot, and allows the all-rounder to gain some time early on.
Stage 2;
Begins near the coast at Oristano, then winds its way across the island to finish near the coast at Tortoli. There is a fair amount of climbing, but It's mostly in the first half, and with a long decent and run to the finish it could be a sprint. Or a break...
Stage3;
Starts in Sassari before rolling thorough some hills towards the north. It finishes in Olbia on the coast. The climbing is in the first half of the stage, so this should come down to a sprint.
Stage 4;
The race has moved down to Sicily. The day starts in Messina, then follows the coast for 60km. The race turns inland, up the North/Eastern side of Mt. Etna. It the descends down the side, before going up the West side. We descend again. Before finally going up the South side to the summit finish. A very dangerous day for the GC. Anyone who came in lacking form will be almost out of contention.
Stage 5;
And back to mainland Italy. Leaving Palmi the race goes north, following the coast, before finishing in Scalea over 200km away. One of the longest days of the race, but its almost all flat. There is one climb early on, and a few bumps in the second half, but it should be a sprint.
Stage 6;
Cassano Allo Lonio starts us off. The peloton head up the coast to begin with. They dive inland, and uphill for the second half. A climbing second half, which should favour a late attack and aggressive ride. Shouldnt see any major changes but riders will have to be vigilant.
Stage 7;
Departing from Molletta we again stay near the coast. The finish is in Termoli and is expected to be a sprint. An easy finish to an interesting first week.
Thats week 1. Week 2 and 3 to come later today.
Please comment, even if you hate the route
Still to come in Week2; A tough day in the Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini with over 4500m of climbing.
A summit finish off of Cagli.
A sprint at the Autodromo Imola
A 48km ITT
2 ascents of the Zoncolan
A day with almost 600m of ascent over The Kronoplatz and a summit finish.

I really like the first 7 stages. Good long TTT and very good to know you plan an even longer ITT in it. Besides that, almost 5 flat-stages and a good looking mountain-stage. Like the constellation so far. |

Week 2
Stage 8;
Coastal start in Roseto degli Abruzzi. Quickly we go inland and start climbing. 6 categorized climbs. The final summit is only about 8km from the finish. This can be a launch pad for an attack. It may also allow some riders to regroup together. Should be an exciting stage.
Stage 9;
The race starts in Tolentino. Lumpy day, lots of shorter climbs, hardly a flat road in sight. Only 2-3 real climbs in the course. And of course a summit finish, leading out from Calgi. Should make for a great showdown.
Stage 10;
Heading you from Urbania, down to the coast. Moving inland again towards the end. The finish comes at the end of a lap of the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari just outside of Imola. A sprint is expected.
Stage 11;
Starting in Ferrara the race shoots up to Portoguaro for a sprint finish. A simple day to recover
Stage 12;
The ITT. Beginning in Palmanova before heading north through Udine and on to Gemona. A lot of it is uphill, but its not steep or really noticeable. At 48km is long, and it will create gaps. Anyone who has a bad day is going to lose minutes.
Stage 13; (NOTE: this needs to be adjusted slightly, but this is roughly the stage)
We begin in Tolmezzo. West to Ampezzo. Climbing out and back towards Paluzza. Another climb. Then first ascent from Sutrio of the Zoncolan, and the descent to Ovaro. Then a short run back to Sutrio to do the Zoncolan again, this time finishing at the summit. Total of 7 climbs, 5 break the 1000m barrier. This is the queen stage of this Giro, and will be key to a win.
Stage 14;
Deprating from Paluzza the stage heads through the mountains to Riscone. Then we cut back over the Kronplatz and onwards to another summit finish. Again 7 climbs, almost 6000m of ascent. 2 break the 2000m barrier, and the final summit tops at 1998m. This is another tough day. The finish is short, but deadly steep. Expect several walking riders
Thats week 2. The tough week. Lots of climbing. The GC will have taken shape, but is far from being decided.
Still to come in week3; 4 climbs near france with a summit finish
Not quite MSR
A final TT in Milan

Week 3
Stage 15;
Beginning in Mezzolonbardo. Heading over a climb north to Bolzano. Over another climb north to Vitapeno. Up another climb to San Leonardo before the final ascent up to the Austrian border. I think the highest finish in this race. Long day, 201km. Over 6500m of climbing. 4 climbs, 3 reach over 2000m. This really is a day to produce gaps. Any time lost in the previous few days needs to be tried to be gained back toady. Expect several withdrawals.
Stage 16;
Starting in Trento, the race goes south down to Palma. A few minor climbs in the first half. But the final 6km are uphill. Not steep but enough to perhaps to favour a puncher.
Stage 17;
Rolls out of Piacenza and goes west to Alba. A climb 30km from the finish could shake things up, as will the false flat finish. A break might make it, but a strong sprint is more likely.
Stage 18;
We start the day in Asti. Again west, towards Pinerolo. Then its up into the Alps. 3 climbs lead us over to Paesana for the start of the final climb. Just under 4000m of climbing, all in the second half. Tired legs will make this interesting. GC contenders need to go for it, the final mountains of the Giro.
Stage 19;
Departs Saluzzo in the morning. Reaches the two climbs just after halfway. Drops down the coast and rushes into Savona for a sprint finish. A surprising amount of climbing but it shouldnt stop the sprinters recovering for a sprint. Any roulers who lost time may use the climbs to shake things up.
Stage 20;
Out of Genoa and north up to Novara. A relativly short day that should make a sprint. There is a climb early on so the KoM battle should be on show here. The road slowly rises towards the finish, but it wont matter. This should wrap up the Points jersey as well, leaving only the GC for Milan.
Stage 21;
The finale in Milan. Its an ITT. 21km round the center of Milan. Long enough to create gaps, but short enough to keep the climbers in touch. The last 2 days have been recovery, now all remaining energy must be used to decide the GC.
Totals
21 Stages
2x ITT
1x TTT
2x Hill
6x Mountain
9x Flat
3364.77km (111.05 in TT)

tough, but also really nice route. I like the way how you compensate the hard mountain stages with more than 110km of TT. |

World Championships Variant - Roubaix
ITT;
Starting and ending in Roubaix, this ITT is 41.7km long and is pan flat. It will be won by a specialist. It heads to the "north" of Roubaix, passing through a few other small towns.
RR;
Starting in Roubaix and ending in the Velodrome. The RR is 276.5km long, with over 60km of cobbles. So this is a race for the specialist strong men. But there is time after the final cobbles for some riders to regroup and make up losses. I would expect a small group sprint. Very flat race. It uses some of the roads from the Paris-Roubaix race, and some new ones.

With that WC done for the PCMCL, and the Giro at a break...
I am now going to take Stage Requests...
Simple Rules;
1. I will do it if i like it
2. No more than 10stages in race
3. Preferred if GPX's are provided
Also i will work on the stages when i get time, so 1 stage can take up to a week to do depending on detail and time allowance

Fancy making 'Praha - Karlovy Vary - Praha' a Czech one day race, for use in the Management Game?
Roman has drawn up a GPX for it, which I can pass on to you. (Or he could send to you also)

This is only for fantasy and variants stages? maybe could you make some classics that doesn't have the real 2012 profile in-game, like:
Cholet - Pays De Loire
Le Samyn
and others classics 1.1 like Pantani, Venetto, Placci, Binche etc..
I could search the profiles and the map but i don't know about GPX
