Wtf happened on stage 3 I don't know. Other than that, it's going pretty well.

How many wins does Van Stayen have so far?

This isn't looking good for Energie.
- Starbucks at the top of the KoM classification.
- Popovych and Karpets very much likely finishing ahead of Pozzovivo in the GC.
- Roelandts wining stages.
I realise now bringing Pozzovivo here was a bad call

Two. And I was expecting a little bit more from him, since he can also be there in the hillier stages, not only the flat ones.

Very close there for Fothen, still barring tragedy he has got this one if only just from Uran. I can only assume that the hilly nature of the circuit perhaps gave the Columbian something. Could the Vesuvio be an outsiders for the Worlds TT then?
It's been a cool race - I didn't realise before but we have the 2nd through to 5th from the Tour and 2nd through to 5th from the Giro here... so the battle of the Grand Tour losers then. Good that the ultimate Grand tour loser deposed Tour chump Fothen takes this to rescue his season.
The battles from 2nd through to 6th still continue to fascinate - I know Sony will lose a little more ground here but the last 5 races will undoubtedly be better races for them with the likes of Ballan and Trofimov. La Gazzetta made the big jump in that TT, should hold off Festina who have probably slightly overperformed here. Vesuvio and Pearl Adidas will put the pressure on though. Wikipedia - another big blank on GC which will set them back again.
Then we have the relegation battle - for Energie Diesal it is looking grim. I get the feeling something really needs to happen for them at the moment, Carmuese their nearest rivals are beginning to pull away a bit. Philips, Columbia, Nespresso and Carmuese have a little too much quality in the locker I guess.

Well done CastaƱo... Much better than I had expected and these 2 "fairly poor" small tours have been perfectly defended. I hope we will take some points back in the Plouay, but it's a hell of a race to predict.
Now my fingers are crossed that no captains will crash on that final stage (Including Madazo and Dees, who give me a slight advantage on most of my direct competitors, though it isn't much).

People will fall on this last stage, it just remains to be seen how many.

Yup, like I said, fingers crossed that none of the captains is going down. I can't bare another crash. It has already made my 3rd place in the PT rankings very insecure, and another crash here could take it from me.

I believe this was one of my minor cock-ups in the season planning. I didn't really consider how much time trialling was in the race, when putting in Sinkewitz. The TTT fine, I can cope with that with my good base of TTers, but the ITT is where I knew he'd struggle, but just not quite by that much. 4 minutes lost, and out of the Top 10 by a mile now.
Still, hasn't been an awful short tour, just not as successful as I'd have liked. Just glad my "relegation panic" isn't in full flight like some managers. |

5th? For someone who won the race in '10 and '09, that's quite disappointing.
I had expected more. |

I'm very interested in the final races. For some reason this might just turn interesting. Bennati winning the Plouay, Rogers winning the TT and Cunego winning the Lombardia... That could be in the making of a huge comeback. I would expect the gap between Sony and La Gazzetta to be around 600pts after this race
It would still require Trofimov and Ballan to underperform, but it is a real possibility now it seems.

Yeah it's really interesting. The teams just don't give up The main pointhauls these races are at the subtop and at the relegation battle. The top, the bottom and the middleteams don't score much atm...
Team B&O will make a huge jump forward though, but theres still a intense battle for the last relegation spot. I would guess Starbucks and Energie will go down with Lafarge though. Carmeuse and Nespresso seems a tad stronger, and Philips is out of contention after this race I reckon.

Yeah Sella was really really misplaced in this race... That's too bad, cause he could've come to great use in another 8-9 day race :-(

Yeah, but I'm not sure there was another race for him.
If I'm not mistaking Sella was in Paris - Nice, Dauphine, Asturias and here. Not many races left that would have suited him
One last chance for Van Stayen to grab a stage win. Hopefully he will take the points jersey at least.

Pozzovivo did well here, even though the route wasn't for him. 11th is quite acceptable. Full relegation panic mode now indeed rjc
