Wasn't that a thing already. He wanted to stay, but Etixx didn't want to resign him sadly.
Wasn't it more that he expects a big paycheck and they aren't willing to give him that anymore based on his results? That's what it comes across as to me
Don't think his paycheck is the problem, Belgian newspapers stated he even wanted to compromise. I think Etixx thinks he didn't bring the wins/results they hoped for.
Spoiler I also think Cav's not the sprinter he used to be, beating everyone with ease. Of course partly because opponents have become stronger (Bouhanni, Viviani, Modolo, Greipel, Kristoff, Degenkolb, Kittel,...). But I also think he lost that little bit of pure speed that used to give an advantage over the other sprinters.
Anyway, if they want to sign another sprinter, it won't be Modolo. He has renewed with Lampre. |

There may also be an Olympics element to it. Cav would quite like to have a crack at the Omnium in Rio, which would require some track riding over the winter and spring. Lefevre has never been keen on him riding any track at all.
Plus Etixx already have a super strong squad. It holds them back sometimes, if they are having to work for a bunch sprint. They'll have high hopes for Gaviria too.

True and Cav requires a dedicated train which limits other options when selecting teams for GT's, still think it would be handy for them to sign another sprinter but they have so many options it's not like they won't get wins.

Breschel is on his way out of Tinkoff-Saxo with Katusha rumoured to be interested to strengthen the classics squad for Kristoff

Kristoff's coach has indeed said that he is an interesting rider, but Breschel, who confirmed he will be riding for another WT-team than Tinkoff next year today, said for a week ago that he hadn't heard anything from the team then, and at the same time the Katusha DS said that Mørkøv was there number one priority to bring in for Kristoff.
I think Kristoff and Breschel could be a very good fit for Kristoff, but I'm not so sure Breschel will want to pair up with him. Will be interesting to see where he goes anyway. For his own sake, I hope he has a WC-clause in his contract, cause he should really be good in Richmond.

Yeah, could is also be because he's losing his sprinting speed? I can imagine it's more appealing to go for the track again when you're not the king of sprints anymore. Or am I seeing things?
Either way, Etixx has plenty of chances on every kind of terrain, so they don't have to dispair.
On another note, is Kittel's contract up or not? |

Daniel Hoelgaard - Joker -> FDJ. https://www.procyc...fkontrakt/ (Norwegian link).
Interesting move. He is in many ways a rider who is very similar to Demare (just not as good, yet). Will be very interesting to see how he will do, also pairing up with his current team-mate Odd Christian Eiking in FDJ.

Now Etixx will have the replacement for Cav in this new Colombian, so Cav might indeed move along somewhere.

It's not so much the track is the appeal, but the Olympics. He was the only rider in the British Track Cycling team in 2008 to not get a medal, and then the 2012 road race did not go his way either. He'd really like to win a medal of some sorts, and that is a big motivation it seems.
He still wants to do the Tour next year too, so it's not like he has any plans of abandoning the road ala Wiggins!

Danny van Poppel to Sky

Its also been rumoured that Cannondale have been talking to Australian Cameron Wurf, looks like Vaughters has a thing this transfer season about pulling riders back out of retirement or semi-retirement in Wurf's case

That'll be why NFTO didn't pick Von Hoff for the Tour of Britain then! Curious to see how One Pro Cycling build their PCT squad - at the moment seem to just be signing riders from other domestic teams. It will be good to have a British PCT team in the mix.
