PCM 2013

Official release date is 20 June, so you just had a very late date at first...
Now you're still late, but less than earlier Wink

Does anyone know if the max racing days of 60 (before declining) has been altered after the fitness/race fitness has been changed?

Seems like race days don't affect fitness anymore, from what we know.

Ok. Now I understand why there was confusion.

I guess for someone like me though it's probably better late than never, as I haven't owned a copy of a PCM game since PCM09.

Other than the download version, I don't think there's a faster option for Australians anyway Smile

New video of gameplay! Again it's Ventoux stage, though, but interesting nevertheless!

Rather long loading time Frown
But the Mountain AI seems so good to me Grin

Loading times are big worry for me personally. If they are not improved it's going to be very annoying I have to say.

Although you can ''window'' button to home screen and surf internet or such while the stage is loading, so that's a good thing, although same was possible in PCM12 too.

The videos we have seen, video capture programs are running alongside the game so that might be slowing down the loading a fair bit.

I've played the game in beta, it is quite slow, as shown on videos too. If nothing is done to shorten it ( but hopefully there will be ) it's gotta be pain in an ass for many.

A stage loading with estimate of 3-4 minutes is not something you really want to see.

On this last video eyolfur stated that the loading were long because of a problem with DirectX . This problem has already been solved, now the loadings are even faster than PCM 2012.Smile

TOUR DE FRANCE 2013 (devblog)

Since the first Tour de France game, players were left on their own devices. Until now, they had very few information about what to do. Of course, you had to win stages and jerseys but the way to succeed could be very different, depending on the played team. It was necessary to know a bit cycling to know what is possible to aim for.

To guide players, we created a set of 16 objectives for each team, divided into 4 categories: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Thanks to them, players know what is possible to achieve with each team.

Bronze objectives are common to all the team. Their aim is to show the main action of the game (relaying, attacking…). Silver, Gold and Platinum categories are different for each team and you have to achieve more and more difficult results. These objectives guide the player and offer a progressive challenge.

Taking Europcar team as example:

-Silver: Wear Yellow jersey

-Gold: Win a mountain stage with P.Rolland

-Platinum: Finish 1st and 2nd on a stage with P.Rolland and T.Voeckler

Thanks to this system, we want to indicate that the most interesting riders in Europcar team (without hurting other riders) are P.Rolland and T.Voeckler. It is also adapted to each team because, obviously, it is not possible to achieve the same results with Sky armada and Sojasun. For Sky, you will have to win 5 stages on the same Tour or to finish 1st and 2nd on the overall standings, whereas with Sojasun you will have to win “only” one stage or to win the best climber standings (Platinum objectives).

Apart from guiding, these objectives also allow to complete the game. Indeed, in the previous versions of the game, it was not really possible to finish the game since it was to the player to set its own objectives. Progress was subjective.

From now, making a 100% is something possible. Each completed objective gives more or less points depending on its category. These points add up to each other to progress through the 10 levels of the game. So, as long as you have not reach “Legend” level, you will not have officially complete the game Wink And if you are a hardcore player, you can continue to improve your stats on the leaderboards.

I'm hoping it becomes easier for stages to be created.

It would be good for a whole range of stages to be made from a more diverse range of countries than before, compared to previous PCM games.

Mountain AI seems good - and it seems that attacks have an effect. It might still not be the most energy-efficient way of getting up a mountain, but at least it's now a reasonable option which is something I have missed for years.

More importantly - there's gaps. They are rather huge, but that's certainly preferable over the current state of affairs.

Maybe that's partly because they revised stats? If Stamina has more effect, the gaps would be huge in the Ventoux stage, which is rather long.

Why would it be easier to create stages?

Sure more .dem files would be great, if that's what you're talking about in the 2nd sentence, but it wouldn't make creating stages any easier Pfft

On the last video posted , he said that every stage from the tour de france have the real routes , i am not sure for smaller races.

Also those gaps are huge indeed , but i wonder how TT gap will be , if they're realistic , a rider like wiggins may have trouble winning the tour since he only has 78 in mountain , he could easily lose 2 min in every MTF. Anyway those gaps looks indeed great.

And how come Froome was so crap ?! He should be flying on the Ventoux.
