Interesting that Viviani/Farrar/Swift were allowed off the front. The rest must not care about the victory in the red too much.

Pirazzi will go for Blue, not Red, surely?
Either way. He is an expert in the break, so it surprises me that he hasn't jumped at all this week even. Maybe he's saving it for the later?
There's no big mountain points available, when there is then I'd expect him to attack.
I guess. Though I envisioned him picking up a lot of sprint points, even if no wins. Though mountains is no doubt his goal, it still shocks me that he isn't moving for any sprints/bonifications.

When did Pirazzi ever sprint well?
Climb is started for the first time now, 36 seconds for the four attackers left.
Now only Thurau at the front, really nice to see him developing well. Last man standing from a 11 rider group in a GT mustn't be underestimated.

This is going to get interesting with the rain and possible tailwinds for the climb.

He's a quick finisher. I dont see why he'd go after the Sprint jersey either though.

No wonder the Giro steers clear of the south of Italy for the most part - not just the geography or infrastructure but rain = ice rink...
Despite race radio warnings I hope the descent is an incident free one.

Trust it to rain only when the Giro comes to town however, heh.

Yeah, Purito knows that this is a great day to take some time back. Katusha is ready to make Swift moan a bit more.
