well, I´m not sure if I understand you

Nice one with the youth jersey

indeed, youth competition is pretty weak here...anyway youth jersey is always nice to win BUT...Francesco managed to win stages on both Giro and Vuelta and I take it as much bigger success than all youth or KOM jerseys on the world |

Stage 13
Queen stage of Vuelta is coming! After two early climbs (35 from 46km of stage is ascent) to Alto de Berja and very hard Alto de la Ragua riders can rest a bit in middle section, but only temporarily. Two connected climbs (Alto del Monachil and highest point of race Sierra Nevada) will suck up all energy even from the strongest riders. I´m not really sure what i can expect from my riders today.

Francesco was very active from start and collected enough points to gain Maillot rojo for tomorrow!

Man, who spent most of the stage alone in front, Joaquim Rodriguez. He attacked in second climb and let all riders far behind. I don´t think it was smart decision of Caisse team. Although he won three mountain sprints and gained pretty much points in climber competition, he lost several minutes in final ascent and dropped out in GC. Weird...

Paulinho, Navarro and Zubeldia of Astana controlled pace of peloton at the foot of Alto de Monachil. Rodriguez was still ahead.

Real battle began about 20km before line when Mosquera decided to attack in one of steepest part of climb. Only 3 Spaniards could counter - Contador, Sanchez and Sastre. They demonstrated their strenght and started to built advantage above remaining riders. Unfortunately Garzelli had bad legs today and had to ride on his - much slower - own. On the other hand, Masciarelli felt much better and followed Tondo, Szmyd and Zubeldia who tried to chase four leaders. Meanwhile Sammy Sanchez started to struggle, but he didn´t give up and joined back his contenders after few kilometres. Mosquera finally wanted to win and attacked less than 2 km before summit. Contador and Sanchez were empty and couldn´t follow, but not Sastre!

Carlos Sastre had more strenght in finish, won the stage and let upset Spanish champion nearly under the top again...sorry I can´t picture Both Contador and Sanchez lost 35 seconds. Francesco Masciarelli came on fantastic 5th place, when he dropped his companions in last kilometer. Another great result for our young gun! Stefano Garzelli finished 11th with huge loss today and lost all chances for TOP3 overall. Luckily there is huge gap after 4 leaders and 5th place overall could be realistic aim for Stefano. Maybe tomorrow´s stage finishing at La Pandera will show us more...

Great riding with Masciarelli, hes so strong at his age. Bad luck with Garzelli, but still good chances for him on GC. Btw what team do you plan to play next season? |

I don´t know yet...it also depends which teams will be "free for use". Only teams we can cut out at this moment are THC (Batista), Sky (alex), Xacobeo (Guido), Androni (Maximka), Garmin (Bosskardo) and Milram (Jaccan)...Hope I´m not wrong and all these stories are still alive

Stage 14
Last mountain stage in this part of race. After peaceful 120km riders will climb to Alto de los Villares and Sierra de la Pandera, last mountain finish at Vuelta this year. This stage is very important for us, Masciarelli will defend his two jerseys, while Garzelli will fight for his chance to move up to TOP5 in GC. Let´s see if they will do well.

3rd man of youth classification Antonio Piedra spent most of the time alone in front.

However he was caught by peloton right before Alto de los Villares summit.

Surprising attack of Maillot oro in short flat section before final climb!

Only Mosquera followed him, both riders built almost minute gap at the foot of La Pandera.

Carlos Sastre!

Carlos had no problems to chase both leaders. 5km to go. Where is Sammy?

Here, about 50 seconds back. Is his dream about overall win over?

Sastre looks much fresh then Contador and Mosquera!

No way! Sanchez shows great fighting spirit and joins his main rival!

Unbeliavable! Stefano Garzelli attacks chasing group...

...and joins Sanchez who is loosing contact with Contador and Mosquera again!

Meanwhile Carlos increases his advantage, he´s incredibly strong today...

...and takes superb win, second in row. We have to wait for second (again) Mosquera more than minute and...

...here is Garzelli on great 5th place just behind Contador and Sanchez! Great performance of our veteran today!

Francesco Masciarelli finished together with remaining TOP10 riders 2 minutes after Garzelli. He increased his lead in youth classification, but lost mountain jersey. Stefano Garzelli jumped over Rodriguez, Cobo and Menchov in overall standing and will defend great 5th place in upcoming stages!

You need 6 points for take the red jersey. A mountain sprint of 4th categorie can doo the job.

Yihaa, Masciarelli is secured the youth jersey if not falling or some stupido breakaways
If there is a break that's getting more than..lets say..8min!If they get 8min you hunt them down, if you don't have a rider there. But if you have one in the break, and there is one that's not very far behind you....HUNT THEM DOWN |

I´ll watch all dangerous breakaways, neither Moreno nor Piedra or even someone else have any chance...only thing I´m worrying is some stupid fall followed by injury |

don´t remember exactly his daily form (0 or -1)...but in any case he is a bit tired after all attacks in previous stages (has lower recovery than Garzelli) |
