Crashed 3 to go today.coming out of the chicane into a right hand turn a couple guys went down in front of me I locked up my rear and landed on one of my old teammates. Got up, and chased but it was only 3 to go. I was positioned about 15th as we were ramping up for the sprint with 5 guys off the front. 4 were juniors and they took top 3. I finished just off the back. Busted up my rear cosmic a bit.

Doing 60-80 miles tomorrow, should be fun. It'll be my first 20+ mile ride of the year outdoors.

Just got home from the 35 mile ride from Hell.

Let me explain:

1. Went out at nine in the morning, because the wind chill got progressively worse, it didn't actually warm up till around 11, and never got near the high 50's they were predicting.

2. My chain fell off three times, and twice I had to adjust my pedal spring tension, these stops took around 45 minutes.

3. Over the course of those stops, 1 person (out of maybe 100-150 cyclists) asked me if I needed help, and he did help me, as my chain had been wrapped twice around my crankarm and wedged between my chainrings, which took a lot of work to get out.

4. I had a cut on my leg which stung like hell anytime I rode into the wind, which was pretty much always.

5. I got 35 miles out of my planned 60-80 done, before deciding to head home so that my luck doesn't make me collide with a car next.

Heck, being hit by a car is less drama than that. And I'd know.

Forgot to mention that I had a close run in with a motorcycle, and that the two main climbs I do on the route still had ice and debris on them, so I couldn't do those.

Did the road race today. 75 miles in under 3 hours, (cant tell exactly cause my computer died halfway through). starting 5 km's to the line there were a constan series of rollers. I lost contacy with the pack with about 600 meters to go. I was spent. Jumped in a couple breaks, none of which got more than 20 seconds or lasted longer than a few miles.

I was rolling back to my car after the finish at about 10 mph, when a guy opened his door. I almost dodged it, but I ended upon the ground again, with more blood lost than my 25mph crash the day before.

As for my cosmics, I got them so cheap, and the damage was only to the edge of the carbon (ergo, not really structural) that I taped it up with electrical tape, and raced it. I was certain, after the crash, that I was going to break it even more (I got up and tried to chase back on, adrenaline can go a long way) but it was fine.

Good weekend overall though. Wish I coulda taken the result that I had in my legs in the crit, but the road race chewed me up a bit.
