An Post SKT - EXTREME: story is over
beagle
thanks guys, short update will come soon

beagle
Our team moved back to Europe after successful Tour de Beauce and joined last stage race before National Championships - Ster Elektrotoer. I felt very good and was confident before race, unfortunately reality was quite different. Opening time trial was good, I finished 4th with 13s loss to Benoit Vaugrenard.

Benoit Vaugrenard is riding to victory

Everything went wrong in stage 2, neither Vaugrenard nor me didn´t join decisive break and lost almost 2min in GC. I fall down to 16th overall. Stef Clement became new tour leader and hold it until the end.

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/20062010-1.jpg
Stef Clement enjoys his yellow jersey

I must say I fought as good as I could in remaining 2 stages, improving my GC place to final 11th.
But it couldn´t change huge disappointment at all.

I forgot export results, so here is just overall rankings.

My team mates participated in one day classic Abergavenny International Criterium during Ster Elektrotoer

Nikolas Maes was our leader here, but due to strong wind, peloton has split and unfortunately Nikolas missed his chance here. Luckily Sep Vanmarcke was in front at right moment and achieved 6th place in sprint and reached first sponsors objective (TOP10). Aussie team Drapac Porsche dominated here, taking all podium places.

I joined second part of Abergavenny International Festival of Cycling - Robert Price GP of Wales, which was second season goal (again TOP10). I joined decisive break of 13, but couldn´t sneak away from group in last hill and finished 10th in sprint. Marco Frapporti took win. I was disappointed again, on the other hand objective was reached.

Last race before National Championships was cobble classic Halle - Ingooigem. I didn´t join of course, I hate pave roads. Our riders went good, finishing 8th (Nikolas Maes) and 11th (Steven Vooren). Andy Capelle took win for Vacansoleil.

I´m sorry for this poor reports, but I have only little time to play and report atm, but don´t want to let this story die...

My blog is going to the end. I have prepared whole season to British ITT Championship and I did well here, finishing 2nd. Only fantastic Bradley Wiggins was faster. He beat me for almost 2 minutes.

I also participated in road race and finish 2nd from the end. Matthew Brammeier played important role through this race, joining decisive break of 7. Their advantage raised up to 14 minutes, when Rapha´s Kristian House surprised his fellows with attack, gained nice advantage within few kilometres and kept until finish. Matthew finished on satisfactory 5th place.

Oh, I almost forgot...Nikolas Maes took great 3rd place in Belgian Championship! Nice success for him and our team.

Well, that´s enough from me, hope you enjoyed reading. Season is not over, stay with us!

-----------------

I totally fucked up schedule and decided to not report some races, where my riders has no chance to make any results (mostly due to lack of fitness). Next report schedule:

Tour of Utah - leader Deignan
Tour of Ireland - leader uncertain, very important race for sponsors
Schaal Sels - cobble classic race, leader will set according to daily form
Grote Prijs Jef Scherens - classic race, leader uncertain atm again
Tour of Britain - very important race for sponsors (2 goals here), Maes should be fill the role of leader
Jayco Herald Sun Tour - leader Deignan
Chronos des Nations - ITT race, Millar will join

5 day long stage race, Philip Deignan would like to confirm his raising form and make some decent result. Opening stage could be quite easy, hills are not steep and there is long soft descent into finish.

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/18082010-0.jpg

Early breakaway group. Sokolov looks like most threatening rider for overall standings.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/18082010-1.jpg

Main contender Florian Stalder attacks in last climb, it´s time for our move. Deignan, De Weert and some others counter.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/18082010-2.jpg

They joined leading group after peak. Now there is 17 men in front in final descent.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/18082010-3.jpg

De Weert opened sprint, but couldn´t hold his position until finish and finishes 3rd. Nice prize for his performance! Maximilian May, member of initial break takes great win. Peloton is 1 minute back (e.g. Landis, Medina, Egoi Martinez missed decisive moment...), good start for our team!

Stage 2

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/20082010i-0.jpg

Weather has changed, rain and strong wind annoyed peloton in stage 2. No rider had courage to try his luck in breakaway. Nicolas Maes chose David Kopp´s back wheel before sprint.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/20082010i-1.jpg

It wasn´t neither good nor bad choice. Kopp cracked, De Negri and Lemair moved forward and let Nikolas behind them.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/20082010i-2.jpg

Luckily Maes didn´t give up, tried to keep De Negri´s wheel and hold another podium place for himself! Lemair took stage win, but it was so close, De Negri must be really disappointed.

Stage 2

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/19082010u-0.jpg

This stage was classified as mountainous...but, after last short steep hill is long descent until finish. Group of climbers, including Deignan, gained some advantage at the summit, but peloton almost chased them down. I say almost, but race directors decided to count same time to first 89 riders. Weird decision...John Devine won "sprint" and took leading jersey from May, who finished deeply in peloton.

Stage 3

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/20082010u-0.jpg

Short circuit flat stage, only my goal was to survive without any accidents. Sprint was really close, Eric Baumann could celebrate after confirmation of his victory. Maxmillian May took yellow jersey back from Devine.

Stage 3

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21082010i-0.jpg

Third stage of Ireland tour was rainy again. Hugh breakaway group formed shortly after start, but didn´t succeed. Last escapee was caught with 14km to go.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21082010i-1.jpg

Sep Vanmarcke tried to sneak away from pack in last hill, winning mountain sprint, but he has been caught few moments later.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21082010i-2.jpg

Alexis Rodriguez was fastest in sprint, Maes didn´t have enough of power today.

Stage 4

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21082010u-0.jpg

May and Devine pulled yellow jersey over themselves so far, today May had no real chance defend it for another day... I hoped Philip Deignan could make good result, but his daily form was poor and he was forced to choose "defensive" tactic. All riders were together at the foot of Snowbird.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21082010u-1.jpg

John Devine attacked first...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21082010u-2.jpg

...Sutherland with Mahoric countered, but couldn´t chase him down...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21082010u-3.jpg

...everyone went what they could...Medina, Martinez, Stalder, Champion...Deignan alone behind them...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21082010u-4.jpg

...John Devine confirmed his fantastic form, won queen stage and took yellow jersey back...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21082010u-5.jpg

...while Deignan finished 1 minute later as 8th just behind Champion.

Last stage is flat time trial and I know it´ll be hard to defend TOP10 for Deignan. De Weert could finish inside TOP20 which would be very good result for him.
