Doubtful whether Cavendish could have defeated Kittel at both their current levels of form and fitness. Though Renshaw proving apt at drafting Kittel's wheel to second position for Omega Pharma - Quick-Step, so it could be interesting to see how things pan out when everyone is at their peak.
Shame Lotto Belisol and Andre Greipel were not in attendance, could have been an interesting showdown after the Tour Down Under. Ah well, still the rest of the Arabian Emirates to race around yet.

Thanks, thought I saw him struggling with the bike near the end. Doubt it would have made much difference though given Argos and Kittel are going so well.

If you notice in the stage video, his feet keep coming off the pedals. The clips didn't seem to work

Weird results at Herald Sun Tour, mainly due to OGE, Garmin and Drapac all misjudging the final sprint. Must have thought the finish line was about 250m from where it actually was. All sprinted way to early....

That happened in a stage of Algarve a couple of seasons ago. The organizers screwed up the distance to finish, so with 250m to go everyone was dead...except for Ciolek and his leadout man Trentin who had been boxed in, so they finished 1-2.
At the time everyone's reaction to the video was 'holy hell what a leadout by Trentin he flew by everyone'
You could tell things hadn't gone normally because Ciolek actually won something Edited by issoisso on 08-02-2014 13:32

There is quite an uproar as the officials seem to have decided to not award any time gaps today, despite them being obviously visible in that picture already.
Good to see Degenkolb being thereabouts, I (just as in any season) fancy him for a Top 5 in MSR and RVV.

Seemed to be quite steep.
Okay I was just going off the profile on the PCS website, where it doesn't look like it is a particularly large height difference. That makes his win all the more impressive then.
