They still want the race to be a good one I assume
Anyway, I suspect what happened is Cav took a rest holding his team car briefly as Ventoso came past.

Cav responds to the allegations.

''Two riders, Robbie McEwen and Graeme Brown, finished 59'15" back and were eliminated.''
What the fuck were they doing ? I think they had a good chat.

For tomorrow's stage I just hope it's a repetition of what was the stage in L'Aquila last year. It would bring more excitement. |

Cyclingnews has Garzelli as a DNF on todays stage, but he is listed on GC. Anyone know anything? |

Yes - I know never to trust Cyclingnews.
The official site has Garzelli listed as 31st on today's stage. |

It was Blythe who retired, not Garzelli. He's twice on the stage results. |

Me too. Kreuziger says on his website that it could be one of the hardest stages in this years Giro as roads are extremely narrow and up and down all the time, so it should be very interesting.Probably first breakaway win?
Go Roman!

They have raced about 44 kilometres of todays stage, 100 kms to go. No breakaway has formed yet, there has been lots of tries, Machado, Kiriyenka, Pinotti, Kruijswijk and others have all tried.
Edit: They did the first hour with an average speed of 43,2.

I doubt there will be a 50 riders breakaway , but a breakaway of not dangerous rider might not.
If not , then Scarponi wins |

Nordhaug is in the break that looks like it's opening a gap. |

Especially Le Mevel as 3rd is in the group. All other riders aren`t that dangerous.
At the moment they are 1'20 ahead of the peloton but with him in the group they won`T allow them to get a big advance. |

Kruswijk(?) is also in the break, and 2 min is not enough to hold of for the remaning 62 km..

Le Mevel has to feel really good that he can afford wasting energy before this weekend, then again its good you have those guys entertaining the stages
Nice route though, really makes me want to go cycling in italy again. |

It would be great if Contador let the break go. It would make for a more exciting race! But alas I think Le Mevel's presence will spoil the breakaway's chances. |

I feel he should give the jersey to Le Mevel:
a) His team won't have the responsibility to chase - keeps some helpers fresher
b) Le Mevel isn't really a danger given the racing to come
c) It gets me fantasy points

I dont really see Contador caring about Le Mevel, its not as if Le Mevel can hold him off in the mountains

I'm not sure, but it looks like Saxo wants to give away the jersey, but at the same time not give Le Mevel too much time.
If they really want to keep the jersey they would have killed of the break sooner instead of having to waste energy by keeping a safe distance. |

True. Either that or Contador is happy to see a GC man waste some energy ahead of the real tests later on.
Regardless of the breakaway, I think we could see a few GC riders trying to steal a bit of time on the final climb to the finish. |
