Do all the favourites still attack at the base of the last KoM on all hilly and mountain stages?
Not at the base no, it's very much up to the climb. Mt. Ventoux there wasn't a real attack by a favorite untill i sparked it within the last 6km. Anothe Mt. Ventoux Evans opted to grind it all the way and attack within the last few km.
But you do see the regular pattern a lot. One favorite attacks and the rest follow. When it all ends in a manageable climb, it usually starts pretty early. But i think it feels better than 08. As i said, much more dynamic.

Yeah, much more varied. During testing I had a Tour stage to Andorra where NOBODY attacked. Astana just set a murderous pace to slowly but steadily shed rider after rider, eventually isolating my team leader and several others.
Then I got bored with it and attacked at 1.5kms to go. |

Hey Isso
Yeah, it's pretty good fun actually. Can't wait to try out the ardennes classics and some sprinting. |

Sounds alot better than last years but now i have to wait til the 10th anyway should be good and just another quick question does it break it into groups of 6 or 7 or just a mass group of favourites or does it sometimes drop some of the favourites early on (6km or something like that) |

Ardennes classics were my main gripe in testing:
I saw F.Schleck attack with 60kms to go and win by 3 mins. WTH.
As for breaking in groups, it varies. Usually people get dropped, get back on when the pace lessens, get dropped again. Etc. |

One question, is it true that this year's pcm is cheaper? I heard from some other dutchies that its supposed to be cheaper this year because it's more of an update to PCM08 than a totally new game, which would mean cyanide spent a whole year on an update (Y)
Dwight K. Schrute: 'I'm not a hero. Im just a mere defender of the office. You know who is a hero? Hiro from Heroes. That's a hero. And Bono'.

From what I remember, the DL version is ~ the same price.
Edit: That said, I did see the price of the Dutch box version, and yes, it's indeed very cheap.

Yes, it's mostly an update. Think of the differences of Football Manager from year to year.
But they didn't spend a whole year on it. According to the interview(s) pcmdaily did with them a while back, they've been working on a new engine (which I'm guessing probably means new game mechanics) for 2010. |

I guess my real question about favourites attacking is this: if one favourite attacks on a climb and all the rest follow him, does he sit up after a bit or keep charging on up the mountain till he runs out of gas?
I've just finished downloading the game, so I'll know for myself soon enough. |

Hi, I have one thing I've been wondering: am I totally blind or is there not an information screen in the 3D race mode like in 08 version where you could see the riders participating and all the standings, with also the race profile, names of the climbs and the percentages and stuff. I liked to look who I was up against and also see the climbs to see if I can make a real difference with relaying hard on them but I don't see it in the new game.
Overall I've liked playing the game this far. It's definitely nice to see people also attacking later in the flat stages sometimes. I haven't had a late break make it this far but I guess they don't make it that often in real life either as the pace is usually quite high already with only 30km or something to go. Also on hilly stages it's much nicer that the favourites don't attack early on every hilly stage which was quite stupid. I haven't tried a really big mountain stage yet so let's see how that works. |

Okay, maybe I'm crazy, but I just finished the Giro on my first career. I have one legendary trainer so only have the powerhouses w him right now. But I set Frank Schleck to Stage Race specialty and throughout the season (starting with LBL) his mountain stat has gone up two points while his hills stat has gone down two. I have the Evolution set to 1.0 for the career settings. Is it true that now you can mold your riders by the way you train them? IE have a guy like Michael Rogers focus purely on climbing, and his TT stat will lower? |

What I remember them saying in the interview was, they have two teams. One working on 09 and one on 10.
No idea how big the teams are though. |

To me in 2009 the mountain-stages are indeed more fun and more tactical. Although I think that not much of the game is changed since 2008.
Climbing and attacking on mountains seems more realistic to me. |

As well I can't create groups I press ctrl and a number but it does not create a group

my first impression.
Trek maniacs will have a lot a fun..AI is a lot smarter and more logic.
First mountain stage ..I was fifth 55 sec. behind ..(and I was playing with one of favorites)..intresting.
Game is looking like 08..but some how I like it already.
Now just give me first official patch and I am ready..
