Calmejane hype
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Congrats on Calmejane, great signing - he won Balkans the first time I reported it after getting in a break on Stage 1. And it was one time when a guy winning GC after being in a break really felt right. He had the perfect stats for holding on.
Didnt know that
I hope this years Balkans will be "more normal" though

You know I looked closely at Lillian myself. Hope he will do well for you!

Doesn't get much better than this as a first signing

abhishek, redordead - thanks!
Heine - I figured. I guess the 8 rider limit is particularly cruel for managers with no riders on their roster yet

Free Agent Signing #2: Nikias Arndt
Nikias Arndt (34)| FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | | 69 | 77 | 76 | 74 | 54 | 74 | 73 | 67 | 61 | 69 | 72 | 59 | 62 | 54 |
Nikias Arndt signed his 50,000€ contract within a minute of Lilian. Nikias is a pure climber who isnt a fan of the aero position. He excels in the high mountains and has a surprisingly fast finish for a climber. We hope to see him in attacks in Grand Tours without Lecuisinier but we also intend to use him as part of our hills support for Miguel Angel Lopez. We are excited to have him and his experience on board!

There's a new German climbing team, and you get Arndt for 50k.
Good thing I'm not trying to win the division anymore anyway!

You are a master at finding these 50K gems. Can Only second cio. Seemed like a very obvious CT Leader choice for a German team indeed :-)

cio - They are probably aiming for longterm signings and not for 34 year olds in the middle of the decline? I'm more surprised that nobody else was going for him!
SotD - High praise from someone who was (partly?) responsible for not being allowed to sell signed FA gems. Thank you

Good signing there.
Had him on the watch for a long time and always was surprised he never went higher. Even for CT long term plans, he surely could have been added easily for 50-80k.
In the end was not enough of my priority to overbid you at any point. |

I have to +1 Roturn here, how did you get him for 50k?

Calmejane and Arndt at very cheap prices. Nicely done.
The 8 bid limit is, as you said, tough when you don't have any riders, so we had our focus elsewhere.

roturn - Same, i was waiting for the overbid and was very pleasantly surprised it went through!
whitejersey - It's common to see me try it on day 1 but its rare to see me succeed like this!
Heine - I left everyone else's FAs alone so they left mine alone. Win-win!
Dane - Thank you! It's already tough for me as i could have easily named 30-40 riders that i wanted to place a bid day 1 and i knew i didnt want to add any young talents or expensive leaders. For new teams more so than others, leaders, good domestiques or talents can all be reasonable targets. Very hard to choose!

Free Agent Signing #3: Phil Bauhaus
Phil Bauhaus (31)| FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | | 74 | 56 | 59 | 61 | 56 | 71 | 65 | 77 | 67 | 78 | 75 | 59 | 63 | 60 |
We knew we did not want to invest too much into a pure sprinter and looked around for potential targets when we saw the opportunity for a reunion:
Back in 2014 when Evonik was created, Phil Bauhaus was the fourth ever free agency signing presented in our HQ (after Lasse Norman Hansen, Michel Koch, Andris Vosekalns) as a 20 year old neo-pro. He was sold after only one year with the team as the team surprisingly promoted and needed to strengthen the roster to avoid relegation back to CT. Now in 2025, Phil Bauhaus was without a contract and we didnt want to go entirely sprinterless. We quickly offered him a 55,000€ contract which he accepted to return after a full decade of sprinting elsewhere.
Phil will be our sprinter for a bunch of stage races. Expectations are low but we hope that he can surprise us with a few nice results.

Free Agent Signing #4: Roger Adria
Roger Adria (27)| FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | | 72 | 73 | 74 | 75 | 66 | 75 | 73 | 66 | 58 | 73 | 74 | 68 | 68 | 68 |
We've further improved our squad by signing Roger Adria to a 50,000€ contract. Roger Adria is an amazingly versatile rider. He combines strong climbing abilities with fast sprinting abilities. He will play a crucial role in many hilly classics, but will also feature in mountain stage races. We are super exciting to have such a talented rider on this incredibly low wage.
