Lost more time to Schleck than I hoped Hopefully this will make Rein attack, attack and attack in the mountains

I think this needs a rerun. 3 teams are listed in the results behind me. That can't be correct

Oh.. also.. by the way: how can Jayco not be listed amongst the best teams in the team's classification? I might have missed something in the first stage, but today's 3rd place for the TTT should probably see us ahead of Aegon in the team's classification, right?

Good catch. The entire team classification seems wrong. E.g. my own team should not be a top ten team after that ttt.

I'm not sure but it was generally a bit weird after stage 2 - control team was leading and so actually I also may have made a mistake - the gaps to Porto aren't that big.

Surprisingly big gaps for a TTT, I feel. And just made worse for Jayco and Pendleton's, with their captains dropped. At least it should make for some fun racing seeing Dombrowski that much behind.
Don't really have GC ambitions here, but a two minutes deficit for Beltran there is something I can't complain about. Would be fun if he somehow manages to stay in contention for a top 10 on the upcoming mountain stage, as that could put him in some kind of position for the hilly stuff, but I kind of doubt it.
And thank you for another report today, jandal7 |

Excellent TTT result for Vesuvio to deliver Schleck to a strong position. And with some big unexpected gains on quite a few others.
Hard to see how Alarcon and Dombrowski can come back from that on GC, in fighting for the podium at least. I expect the ITT will balance things out, or worse, against Madrazo, Pluchkin and Taaramae - so lets see what the mountains bring.
Surprised Tinkoff won by so much. Some consolation for Stage 1 screwing them over, but not nearly enough.

Another near miss for us. Tinkoff is definitely a worthy winner especially after their Kritskiy disaster in stage 1, but this was our stage to lose, even more so seeing that the team disregarded Machado's GC aspirations.
I can't be too unhappy though seeing that Machado still holds a solid position in the GC and can capitalize on a few other disasters. Looking forward to the mountains.
btw sorry guys about the lack of NCs in my TT train

No crash in the last few stages that I caught, but obviously injured in the last two stages.

Such a brutal stage. Herklotz proving once again there is no doubt he'll be the real deal when finished developing, and he could even grab a top three overall here, judged on that stage.
Also congratulations to Heine! Must be a relief to see Taaramäe bounce back after his losses in the TTT, and suddenly he's right back in it. Machado as the overall leader is also interesting, eventhough Schleck must still be the favourite, despite not showing his best there, I suspect. But after such a brutal stage, it's great to still have six riders within 52 seconds, and then also Madrazo at 1'20. Should make for an interesting continuation.
For my own team, it was nice to see Hoem go for it. Koch by far the strongest of those going with him, but it's all we can hope for on such stages. Beltran also coming home with the group from 16th to 27th is also good. Hopefully it means he'll be attentive on the upcoming hilly stage, as that's by far our best shot at stage success.
And thank you for a very nice report, jandal7! |

85 84 81 85 84 85 85. Enough said.
For a still developing, not a favourite, young rider to kick off the attacking with over 50km to go, continue to work and attack the cycling world's biggest names, and come third is a feat you can't understate really
I hope you don't mind if I just copy your statement because there is no better way to put it. Incredible.
And thank you very much for an outstanding report! |

Underwhelming from Schleck, as it always is with a too passive ride. Not as passive as many outside the Top 7 of course, but never showing any intent to gain on his rivals - or even really challenge Taaramae. Taaramae clearly back as favourite now.
Very weird order for the Eritel riders.

Great report, great stage!
Those kind of rides are what I want to see by my climbers. Great attack and much appreciated. Quite cool that he actually got a good GC position from it but I would have appreciated it regardless of that
The only regret I have is that he couldn't beat out Robov for the KoM jersey but perhaps he can attack that I'm the next stages?
Vosekalns also with a great ride finishing right in the group of Dombo and Keizer.
Herklotz the surprise of the stage proving that I joined the MG too late
Nice to see Taaramae winning the stage. I hope he can continue on the next stages on his way to a GC victory.

I had set aside more than 1 million the whole transfer season just for him, you wouldn't have changed a thing

With those numbers you could out-knockout knockout

That was clearly a clever attack by Cameron Bayly. Too bad he didn't have the strength to fight off Robov. They are quite similarly statted on a stage like this, but Robov is the better sprinter, and clearly had a + day with Bayly probably "just" on a normal day...
I can only hope for him to continue, as it will make him fight for KOM points and a top 50 GC, which is points we need. 4th in KOM after the stage unfortunately gives no points, but the fight was good.
Also Jakub Novak performed his best climb of the season so far to snatch 19th. If he can replicate that, for the remainder of the race we might be able to fight for a spot in the region of 20-23... We had 25th as the goal prior to the race, but all sort of things can happen, and it won't be difficult to point out 25 better climbers from this peloton...
If Bayly can attack again on the upcoming stage he will have a great chance to overtake the KOM jersey. So he probably won't
Congrats on a great win Heine. Taaramäe is clearly the upcoming TdF winner.
