Fun racing against the elite, not high hopes but fun with a MTTT |

Nice surprise! Thought we were goint to lose minutes, especially as all eight riders was together in the photo just before the finish, but only 27 seconds slower than Festina is great.
Contador is looking decent for a top 5 now, fingers crossed he gets a great day on the coming queen stage and is able to gap a couple of the riders in front of him in the GC.
Thanks for the report, roturn.

After promising start, this race is going to be terrible for my team. Hopefully Roche will be able to improve his provisional standings in upcoming mountain stages, although his MO skill ain´t the best.

I know I reported that race due to low ambitions for my team.
But seriously? Gomez Marchante 20'30 behind? He should be somewhere around 5-6min like Faiers, Pinot etc.
This really ruined the race for me as not even a top30 is probably now. If he climbs like this in the Giro and Vuelta, I can expect participation points in those races only.
And what a come back by Suaza. |

How did you not do this while watching this race unfold?

Spilak too strong, no surprises. What a result by VolksWagen-Mapei, would be a great result if they can keep this up tomorrow in their battle not too relegate.

Nice seeing the team trying something and not just sitting in the pack. |

This is one of the craziest things I have ever seen in the Man-Game. I can't complain though, despite my main helpers lose 20-something minutes...
Spilak with a stagewin, isn't really that surprising, but winning by such a margin to a lot of direct competitors was not expected. I feel sorry for those whose GC hopes stayed behind. This really isn't the way to lose a race.

I don't get it? What happened to Machado? He goes with Spilak in the decisive attack and then... an absolute abyss, losing 2min by the end of the first summit.. did he fall or something?
On the other hand it was really a pleasant surprise to see the wildcard team agitating the race in such fashion. Congrats on that viking Congratulations as well SotD, magnificent display from your leader. Money well spent

Nothing happened to him. Just got dropped by the others I guess. |

Spilak is just a monster after his training. A shame Contador wasn't awake when the four led by Siutsou slipped away, that would've been great.
Hopefully he can keep up and defend his 5th place on the final stage, but especially Velits is a little bit too close.
Very nice to see Stake Laengen in the break, which gives us a surprising 2nd place in the team classifications so far. I think we've never been anywhere close to that in tough stage races before.
Thanks for the quick reporting, roturn. Though, it's truly a shame/unlucky to have Gomez Marchante finish 20 minutes behind on such a stage. |

Oh ok, nevermind then. Looked quite abnormal hence my question. Thanks I'm just frustrated because I thought Machado's climbing prowess would be more reliable here.

Super happy with that TTT, as always with TTTs, it appears that the closer the riders are in strength to each other (and the fact that my entire climbing squad is here) the better they do. Pity I couldn't win the stage, but Scarponi up to 4th in the GC was very pleasing.
To lose so much time in the next stage, not so much. But to have two riders inside the Top 15 GC is better than I was expecting.

Hmm, at least Velits did something, it could be way worse than this. But what the hell König did on that stage, nothing, absolutely nothing... This AI is crazy.

Thanks for the pace of these reports roturn.
VDB moving up to 16th and two of my domestiques around the 40th to 50th range is quite solid so far.

Great pace on the reports.
Sella doing really well, now just needs to keep position on the last stage, I would've hoped that Monsalve hadn't been sitting in the "giving up" peleton, but you can't get everything.
Sent pretty much ever climber I had to the MTTT, you could see that from how far behind we were on the first time check, and then the climbing started...

If only Gomez Marchante would have been riding like this on the first mountain stage...
Unfortunate for Contador here. Also for Vesuvio.
For Machado it almost looked like he lost interest after the MTTT and his bad GC. |

Great race. GC, points, mountains and three stages in the proces. I kinda hoped Spilak would be able to win the final stage aswell, but 3rd is alright. I guess I will move into the overall top 5 with this race, going into the Giro, which is very nice.
