Stage 1
Leeds - Harrogate
Stage One is 190.5km long and has three categorized climbs, the stage is likely to finish in a sprint so the sprinters will be at the front all day
And the Tour De France 2014 has begun, 21 gruelling stages await these 198 riders, who will be victourious?!
Today there was a break of three (Bak of Lotto Belisol, Hayman of Orica, and Leezer of Belkin) up the road, they contested all three of the KOM climbs, the first was taken by Bak who took two points while Hayman finished behind him and gained a point
The Intermediate sprint was taken by Leezer of Belkin who was followed by Bak and Haymon
When the peleton rolled across the sprint cavendish took it in front of Sagan, Degenkolb, Kristoff, Kittel, Viviani and Coquard
The Buttertubs climb was taken by Leezer who took two points while Hayman finished behind him and gained another point
The final climb of the day was taken by Hayman who took two points while Bak was 2nd and he took one point, this means that Hayman will wear the polka dot jersey tomorrow
With 8km to go the breakaway was reeled in by the surging peleton
The Final sprint is launched
John Degenkolb pulls out an amazing sprint victory in front of Cavendish and Greipel, surprisingly Kittel led out Degenkolb
After crashing 20km before the stage finish, Marcel Wyss finished in last place.
