You are obviously no Gomez Marchante fan.
But he showed a nice fight here. Still top15-20 possible for him.
But go into breakaways!!! No single Rothaus breakaway attempt all season despite being outsider in every single race....sucks

Schleck had to fight hard there. It's a pity to see him lose ground considering that he was with Nibali at one stage. Stage 3 and 4 were never going to be his best ones in this race though. Had it not been for getting lucky by attacking early, I guess he would have finished in that Dekker/Sicard group, so that is a bit of luck
Probably needs to stay with Spilak on Stage 4 to keep up in the GC race, but Spilak is the better rider, so not easy to do. Quite happy that Taaramae and Martin took away the top bonus seconds, since I should gain them back in the mountains.

Great stage for the neutral, and a great victory for Bouygues. Sicard very disappointing though, ING are in huge trouble if this continues. |

Goncalves is proving to be worth his inflated salary, what a great start to this race! I'm just hoping our luck holds out.

Hmm, could be better, but these stage are never going to be Velits' advantage over his rivals. And Rujano at least avoided complete disaster to something what I could expected in a bad scenario. Hopefully Rujano will try to get himsfelf to a breakaway in the next stages with his high Fighter stat, or he should do a lot of great work for Velits indeed. Top 5 could be still possible, double top 10 is quite a big dream right now. Still nice stage though.

Nicely fought by Spilak there. He has positioned himself nicely for 2nd in the GC. Beating Nibali will be very difficult. But gaining back the lost time on Schleck is good. If I can take 25-30 seconds on Nibali tomorrow I believe I can win. Otherwise I doubt it.

Id still say Spilak is more likely to win than Nibali

Schleck is no sprinter, so weird tactic to lead it out. He looks higher up than 7th on the finish photo though - not that it matters too much.
All in all that was a great stage for him. No gaps is perfect, and only Taaramae getting the bonus seconds.
Now Spilak and Schleck will be on a level playing field with 85 Mo, and only 2 seconds between them. Should be fun!
And as a side note for Jaguar, it is great to see Teklehaimanot riding strongly/

Awesome stuff there by Gomez Marchante to hang on. 20th with a few weaker climbers ahead of him. looking really good so far.
But still no breakaway attempt this season. Mustn`t become common...I really need those breakaway points.
Villella and Reguigui doing well to support here though. |

Almost thought Keinath was sitting up out of contention there, but almost managed to come away with the stage win!
Oh and group with Grivko in called "the shyte pack" - I must strongly disapprove!

If VDB can hold onto his 6th place I will be beyond happy. It will be tough to beat Sicard in the coming stages though, so I'm not optimistic.

Not really happy with how Spilak tried this one out, but he tried to do something. A time bonus on Nibali would have been much appreciated, but it seems like he, atleast, have some firepower. Will be very interesting to see if he can somehow co-operate with Schleck to get the others distanced.

Now this is going to get really interesting. Excited to see how AI does it on a mountain stage after a couple of good hilly stages |

Strong finish from Brambilla there. Too bad he didn't have a better position at the start.
Now the mountains. Hopefully, he can hang on as much as possible.

Nice ride Velits, clever riding, happy that he lost no seconds this time, even got a top 10 result again. Mountains are finally coming now, any chance there will be some big gaps, please? Rujano has to attack in next two stages, a stage win would be perfect in his current position. Vysna doing nicely too.

Great to see Pinot riding well, his improvement this year will be crucial to my team getting some more solid results when my bigger 4 (Phinney, Denifl, Van Garderen, and Summerhill) aren't in their big races. Talansky in 16th is encouraging as well.

What a stage there! Brilliant report!
And what a race by Gomez Marchante. Follow Nibali was the best possible move as going earlier would have exhausted him too much. Nibali`s steady pace (Sorry for not supporting him ) was perfect for him and 13th is where I expecteded him.
Now being 16th in GC with 1 more MTF tomorrow and a mountain ITT I really think a 10-15th is possible.
Also the mountain stage and his previous hill performances give me some hope to Top15 in GT`s. |
