Parker should have less Mtn than Boswell IMO.

No need to start questioning stats if you ask me. PPDB has different stats than for example the Daily DB. Not nccessary to edit stuff when the career is already started I think.

@valverde: True. And just today I thought my race planner could have been more realistic by choosing more American Tour races instead of the Emerald or Sochi one, but on the other hand without any sprinter in my team I had to pick some more suitable races as well. Wink

@baseballover: Please don`t make stat discussions here. It wouldn`t bring very much as I won`t change them after starting a career. Wink
Also I don`t even know all of these guys and I don`t want to change just my team, then I would also have to change all the other teams, so I totally trust Plakker with the stats here.
And actually Parker already retired in real with only 19 years. He was still in the DB, so I play with him. Wink Also the two young riders that signed with Bontrager during the 2012 season are not there.

Grand Prix of Sochi

Stage 3 - Novo Rossiysk - Nebug (165km)
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_3_3.jpg
Today is a hard day with lots of climbing. I will try to support my leaders and finish in the front group depending on my legs. Although there are lots of KoM points to get I won`t get a chance to repeat my San Luis result and instead of me it`s Craddock, who is wearing the jersey and hopefully makes the jump into the group.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_3_4.jpg
As you can see none of us was able to join the 5-rider breakaway. This most probably also means that we will lose the KoM lead.
The pace was pretty high until the sprint and so we had to give up on this.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_3_6.jpg
After the first KoM Miche with a double attack. And both Franzoi and Witecki must be controlled. They are within the best.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_3_8.jpg
Our GM send Atkins and Avis to the front increasing the pace with 70km to go. Boswell will be our leader today and obviously feels good.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_3_11.jpg
But also the Gobernacion de Antioquia squad for Gutierrez Cataluña sees the danger of the Miche duo and comes to the front supporting us.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_3_12.jpg
Up to the last Cat.1 climb with 26km to go the gap is down to 1min and Dale Parker attacks. The group behind is down to 47 riders now still containing Boswell, Craddock and myself. Only Atkins and Avis had to let go.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_3_15.jpg
Parker`s attack had no success and he was caught again. Coming to the last climb many riders attack. One of them Ian Boswell, who goes all-in now.
But also this attack was not as successful as hoped. Behind Endura was doing the pace for Tiernan-Locke and everything went together again.
As I was still in the group I decided to support Boswell to stay in a good position and then also sprint for a stage result.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_3_16.jpg
Tiernan-Locke completes his team`s work and wins easily as best sprinter remaining. Boswell is not known as sprinter, so in this slightly downhill finish his 10th was a good result although we had hoped for some more time gaps.
Even my 18th and Parker`s 23rd had the same time. We have to try again tomorrow.

As you can see I still "struggle" with the screenshots as CTRL+U not longer deletes the circles below the riders. So I sometimes forgot to make this manually.
Should get some routine with every stage I play.

Also my playing skills are not like in PCM10 and PCM11 as I rarely have played PCM12 offline yet and still have to learn a lot how to position and when to attack.

Besides the detail of the circles (that you should get used to the new key), the screenshots are great!

Good luck!

Great stage by Ryan today and only forty seconds off the GC lead Wink

Ian Butler
Still going strong Wink

Thanks all.
@sutty: It`s one of the less important races and after the race break also the fitness is not good enough to perform on a higher level here.

Grand Prix of Sochi

Stage 4 - Nebug - Nebug (245,9km)
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_2-2459.jpg
Maybe the hardest stage in Sochi. Not only because of the length, also the climbs look tough and pretty steep. Just staying with Boswell today is my goal. He has better chances than me here.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_3.jpg
Again we have no rider in the breakaway. We tried it earlier with Avis but in the end we decided to control the peloton and support Boswell as he is feeling good.
In especially as we heard that Bàez (EPM) and Gjolberg (TPM) are in the breakaway, who both are in the top10.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_6.jpg
We controlled the pace over the first race half. Due to my good results so far I could still relax in the back. But Avis and Atkins really did a great job here keeping the gap not too high.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_7.jpg
Just like yesterday Miche is showing an attacking style here. Franzoi and Rocchetti attack together. Both are only 40s down and so they put a lot of pressure on the other teams.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_8.jpg
So the two strongest teams come immediately to the front and support us: Endura and Gobernacion de Antioquia.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_9.jpg
I was able to relax...until now. With 25km to go and the last climbs before the final one Parker and I higher the pace to thin out the peloton. Not working that great so far but hopefully Boswell will have a good position before going into the final.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_11.jpg
The group is down to 28 riders. Unfortunately Parker is no longer here and is a few seconds behind in a 2nd group.
I had better legs than expected and so with 10km to go I was still there keeping the pace high.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_13.jpg
The Miche Duo is still 57s ahead and none of the former breakaway was able to stay with them.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_15.jpg
Now the Russians with their attack. First Chernetski (Itera) and behind Klimov (RusVelo). This really highered the pace now so that I lose contact to the group and also Boswell wasn`t that well positioned.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_16.jpg
It`s going into the final climb and look at that. Didi, the German devil came to Russia to motivate us. And he chose a great scenery because this climb is epic. Really steep and on a narrow alley. Unfortunately too narrow to gain positions here.
The two Russians still have a gap to the group including Boswell in the 2nd half only.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_18.jpg
The camera even finds me. I am already more than 1min behind riding in a trio with a Tabriz and a Gobernacion rider.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_20.jpg
Great effort by Chernetski. He wins the stage and takes care of a Russian stage win.
11s later Tiernan-Locke outsprints Klimov and only Gutierrez Cataluna is able to stay with these.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_21.jpg
Then a lot of splits in the former 28 rider group. Boswell unfortunately due to the bad positioning on the narrow road only 20th in the 4th group. This went worse than expected. We still need to work on our form before heading to the next races and also in our tactic in the final.

For myself the 33rd was the maximum today as in the end there were bigger gaps than expected. Still sitting in 27th overall is not as high as I had hoped but on the other hand it`s just a preparation race for me. Hopefully the next race already is better.

Ian Butler
Well, the work you did for Boswell is more important than your own GC here, so excellent work!

FreitasPCM
Not a good final part of the stage from the team. At least you tried, and better luck will happen next time. Wink

I decided to finish Sochi quick so that I can really start this story with complete races coming to the more important races.
So here the last Sochi report.

Grand Prix of Sochi

Stage 5 - Nebug - Krasnodar (190,3km)

The last stage is again something for the sprinters, so nothing for our team. Pretty sure our GM will try to find a sprinter for next season as we lose lots of possible points on all these occasions and sooner or later we want to become part of the next division.

Craddock had two days of rest but today again being in the break. We just have to hope that we finally have more luck here and he can fight for the stage win.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_4-1.jpg
For me the day way pretty calm. I rode far in front to avoid nasty crashes that I really can`t use right now with my first season peak ahead.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_6-1.jpg
Unfortunately the sprinter teams didn`t allow the breakaway to win this one here. So Craddock was caught with just 8km to go and we once again have to watch other teams to perform in the final.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_8-1.jpg
What a crash. Lots of riders on the ground but luckily none of us as the crash happened in the last third of the peloton.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Sochi_4_9-1.jpg
The sprint again was won by Tiernan-Locke, who really has a nice season so far. Wouldn`t be surprised if he draws the attention of a big team, maybe even a World Tour team.

In general I had a very calm race here in Sochi. I had lots of helper tasks and could test my legs. It could have been better but also much worse. So I just have to tick off this race and concentrate for the next.
And we have been the 4th best team of 26. This is not bad at all I guess.

I have to say that I really like this story. It's always fun to follow a relative unknown rider (for me at least Pfft ) in a small team.
Good luck for the rest of season.
Winners never quit, quitters never win.

Thanks.
@PCM rulezz: I took me quite a lot of time to decide what team I will play as I really wanted to play a small CT team but with strong enough riders to have fun for more than a few races. I think I made a good choice for myself and as Eastman was looking promising although he won`t win much/anything the first season I took him.

Tour of the Battenkill

Welcome to America for our first race on home ground. We are in Cambridge, New York for a great cycle classic: The Tour of the Battenkill.
A lot of hills and muddy roads expect us. This is definitely a race I want to win once in my life as it normally really suits my skills as hilly puncheur.
Today I will in first line present myself to the home fans and maybe I am lucky and get a chance for a breakaway appearance.
Otherwise I will stay in the peloton, help my leaders and look for my own chance, which shouldn`t be too bad.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Battenkill_Team.jpg

Dombrowski and I will lead this race as Parker is still preparing for his season peak. Also Craddock And Stuyven have been called as outsider favourites but a lot depends on the speed today.

Our sponsor Livestrong wants a top10 here, so this should us give extra motivation to reach our goal.

Our tactic will be to send a rider into the breakaway. I am supposed to be our first option for this. So I will try everything in the beginning but as experience has shown these kind of classics will be started very fast and so not always the first attempts are successful. So it will be important to have a 2nd option there, which will be Parker today.
Later in the race on the last 2-3 hills we must be concentrated as attacks could cause to splits. Here we want to be active and either me or Dombrowski will be part of these. Some teams surely hope for their sprinters to survive the hills so we have to use the hills to get an advantage ahead of them.

Favourites:

*** Dennis
** El Fares, Deignan
* Gutierrez Cataluña, Dombrowski, Milne

With only 2 PCT teams here the start list is not the hardest but still some well known names participate. Big favourite Rohan Dennis, a similar rider than Tiernan-Locke actually, who dominated in Sochi. Good on the hills and fast in a sprint. PCT riders El Fares and Deignan are named next. Both already won a stage on Pro Tour level, so they surely know how to win such a race. Outsiders on the win are Gutierrez Cataluña, 2nd in the Giro once, Milne and Dombrowski, who should have best chances to reach our goal.

I gotta go now. Lawson is calling me. Obviously we will ride to the starting line now. Wish me luck.
