The wind is adding a lot of drama to this race. I'm still reeling from Verbist dropping so much time on the flat stage though.
Quinziato and Cappelle are strong on the cobbles - but nowhere near the class of Verbist.
I'm not even considering the whole team riding for Gatto. |

Blythe dominated as expected, but what about rest of field???? Although Mohs is still holding 2nd, with 3 unpredictable sprinter stages left, everything is possible. Why the hell my cobblers did nothing to improve their GC placing??
EDIT: at least maybe I could finally see some of my riders in the break

Brilliant! Loddo suddenly have a great chance to take a good place in the overall GC - who would had thought that?

A shame there werent more gaps behind to aid Thomas in the GC, but a brilliant display by Blythe, just as hoped for

2nd place and points jersey still looking plausible. |

Geraint keeps 9th overall thanks to the bonus second(s) from a sprint prime - nice to see the game being sensible and have him go for it. And another Top 10 stage placing for him aswell

Paolini and Loddo are really doing well here - though Loddo is not easy to predict. He can easily end as 20-30th on the last 2 stages, but I hope he will continue to surprise me!

Pity Verbist didn't really push it on when they hit the cobbles. Poor race from him here.
Having said that Gatto is doing well. |

The Points jersey battle is very tight into the final stage

Third stage win for Loddo and he looks pretty good for second in the GC.. never thought that would happen. It's too bad that Paolini is so old now - what a leadout man he has been.

Let´s see what I´m expecting from last stage
Strong wind causing split of peloton, with Blythe and Loddo + as much as possible Pendleton, 100% Me and Vespa riders (due to Team rankings) caught behind. Mohs must win, securing both overall win and point jersey.
Then I still have a chance to complete 4/5 of my season goals. Smowz, I hardly expect some help of you in this matter

And its sealed A strong consistent race for Blythe, with his 2nd stage win of the season - and most importantly - an overall race victory! That will give him renewed confidence then as he looks to start winning the Cobbled classics next season.

Yup, i think i just got 5 points or so from this race . I think Pendleton's is now on equal hight if not higher in the rankings.

You were only 2 points behind Milka at the start of the race, so every little counts!

That word...transfer season is soon very sooon!
Blythe was awesome on that cobbled stage. A bit like the Sun Tour, a number of favourites were knocked sideways by the wind.
Van Heerden seemed the second big favourite and really JJ Haedo should have done better. Great stuff from Pokerstars once again though and a really good non Serpa race for Pirelli.

Good entertaining race that, even if Verbist didn't get second.
Enjoyed it - nice one, smowz. |
