In the battle for 2nd and 3rd (and the rest of the Top 5), La Gazzetta, Festina, Pearl and Vesuvio all scored well in China, and so there are no positional changes here - just 11 points separates La Gazzetta and Festina now though. The rest of the Top 8: Auber, Jack Wolfskin and B&O can also be satisfied with their Chinese haul, outscoring all teams ranked below. Jack Wolfskin did drop a place to Auber though, while B&O are up 2 from 11th.
And so this means that both Domina Vacanze and Lipton Ice Tea are outside of the Top 10! Nobody would have predicted that at the start of the season - infact, there were some expectations for these 2 to be battling for the places 10 places above them!
Philips and Starbucks only scored 40, while Energie-Diesel took 77. The rest of the teams from Warner Bros in downwards all scored 50-something points, so there isnt too much change in the battle down here - although Energie do climb back above Starbucks. Oh and Lafarge scored 101, so a decent race for them for once.

Only 11th place for Trofimov means he does not close the gap completely to Spilak but still leaves him well placed considering he has home race GP Yekeratinburg to come, alongside the Lombardia where he will race against Spilak. A misperformance in Russia though, would leave it open for a very interesting final race battle! This also now means that whatever happens, the Individual Rankings wont be decided until after the final race.
Damiano Cunego climbs to 5th, and could well bring himself further into contention here with a victory in Asturias, as Frank Schleck climbs above teammate Uran into 7th. Hagen, Plaza, Bakelandts and the 2 Sanchezs are also on the up.

Bah
A boring race with LLS outside the top10. These last 2 were really disapointing for me.
Damn this relegation battle is getting tighter...

Great result... What a way to minimize pointloss on Vesuvio here!
Still seem to be gaining on most teams, hell I even gained on La Gazzetta I think!

Had to be one reason you got him ridiculously cheap.

Those team rankings are so close in some areas.
Sony look certain to win... it seems already like it is impossible for anyone to catch them (well it has for a long time). They have more than enough strength in the hilly races to match most of the other teams there. Scores in stage races may be more modest but still should be easily sufficient to tide them over.
The other podium places will be very close, not least because I suspecy we have some race winners in there. Cunego vs Intxausti at the Asturias for a start.
As a CTour manager the relegation battle interests me also - Starbucks have battled gamely on. I thought the Tour was going to be a knock out blow but then Visconti scores with second at S-M-S. Nuggetty little stage wins and surprise performances could save them from the bottom 3. However they must be favourites - just looking at their Asturias squad alone and to be honest that is as good as it gets for them.
Nespresso, Carmuese and Energie Diesal all have star quality and it depends how they perform. Nespresso and Energie perhaps have greater potential for nicking points here and there on stage race sprints. But Carmuese probably have the two biggest stars in Cancellara and Popovich. Fabian must be a top 5 ot podium at least in the ITT and Popovich likewise should score well in his remaining races. But to be honest it is too close to call, going be down to who gets the results on the day.
