It's -4 C here now. It works cycling outside, but my trainer (guess who ) says I don't need to do more cycling than the three times a week I do it on the roller. The rest is skiing, running and strenght. |

I am in Iowa Levi, definitely didn't get above 20 today. I am still in swimming though for another 20 days, hopefully by then its 32!
Going to Florida in March for 7 days, will hopefully get some good riding in there. |

we could make a pcmdaily-training camp there...
the only difficulties than would be the costs of the flight and the missing hours in school

Did my first race of the year yesterday, after a pretty poor winter training. It was Elite's/1st/2nd category, and somehow I felt really strong and ended up coming 6th after winning the bunch sprint. |

well done tom. i'm gonna start up the PCM road racing champinships again this season. last season it kind of ran out of steam as people stopped posting their results.
think i'm gonna include all results up to 10th this season to give more people a chance of getting some points so find the official results and i'll add it to your tally once i've sorted it all out. |

I've done a few races so far this year, but had some bad luck with crashes. In the first race I was caught up behind a big pile-up, and since I hadn't crashed there was no free lap for me, so I had to chase on my own. I joined a group of 4 and we hovered around 30 seconds back going into the final lap.
The second race was this last Sunday. My legs felt good, which was essential on what was a very technical, and wet (lots of rain, before, and during the race) course. Lost position around a hairpin turn when 4 riders tried to fit in a spot with room for 2 (with me in the middle) and was moving back up in the pack when there was another crash which split the field on the narrowest part of the course. Some 50 guys started, I finished 22nd and was the last rider to finish, about 30 seconds back of the pack.
Here is me before the crash, chasing down a break (and splitting the field, yes the course was very technical)

Yup. As I am no longer a Junior I can no longer race for a Juniors team. I had a couple local clubs approach me, but the Northern California regional Colavita Racing Team is the one I saw the most potential in. So far I am not disappointed in the slightest. The team's racing style is more towards crits and flat road races, which is perfect for me, and the team manager has taken quite a liking to me (aka free shit) AND the sponsors are pretty awesome. Williams Wheels make really good wheels for really good prices, our tires are Kenda, Rudy Project gives us really good deals.
Our frame sponsor (LUMA) is one of those companies that gets their frames from the same factories as Trek and Giant and since they are a new company we are kinda part of the companies building blocks. For example I ordered a sub 900 gram custom frame, same molds as a Madone 6 series with a few tweaks and better paint job, they fucked up and sent me the wrong model, but still custom to my team, so they can't take it back and re-sell it, so they are sending me the proper frame, in the meantime I will race the frame I have and will most likely be able to keep it. Bottom line (run-on sentence much) 2 frames for $895. Can't beat that.

Pretty neat stuff there, but I'm more stoked about Vredestein producing their tyres again!
Seems like the US teams have a lot more going for them in sponsorship deals than us in the UK.

As for the kit, the new kits haven't arrived yet from Giordana, so what I am wearing I stole off one of my teammates. The new kits will be blue, black and white mostly with some green and red. The exact same design as the Colavita Pro womens team with a few sponsor tweaks.
