Stage 4

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21062009-0.jpg

Last and only flat stage of race. Only bad luck can deprive Failli of yellow jersey.

Adrian Honkisz from CCC Polsat took nice win after successful attack of huge breakaway group few kilometres before finish.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/21062009-1.jpg

Francesco Failli finished comfortably deeply in the pack and could celebrate his another great result in this season!

Francesco Failli absolutely dominated in Slovenian Tour, winning all possible jerseys here. Nice surprise for me and good sign before Italian RR Championship.

Hard hilly circuit is giving opportunity to really best prepared riders and teams like Lampre, Liquigas or Serramenti. Our leader Failli is in good shape, but will be limited by likely weak support from team. TOP10 will be good, TOP5 excellent, TOP3 miracle...

Campionato di Italia

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/28062009-0.jpg

Strong breakaway group including big guns like Pozzato or Visconti.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/28062009-1.jpg

Entry to the last lap and still 6 riders are in front - Dall´Antonia, Pozzato, Quinziato, Visconti, Caruso and Cataldo. Peloton is getting close though.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/28062009-2.jpg

Gibo attacks, followed by many others. Failli is together with Mazzanti, Giunti, Scarponi or Canuti amongst them.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/28062009-3.jpg

But one rider is much stronger than others - Alessandro Ballan! No one could accepted his another attack when leading group has established. He quickly built nice advantage and decided about his win. He becomes new Italian RR champion!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/28062009-4.jpg

Gibo Simoni gained little advantage in last downhill section and kept 2nd place until finish. Francesco Failli sprinted together with Giunti for last podium place and lost by only few inches. It´s a shame, 4th place in such a competition is still great though.

IMPORTANT!

It´s up to you guys, choose what do you want to see for the rest of this season. Original plan was to concentrate only for autumn classics, but there is another option - ASA could very likely receive wild card for Vuelta a Espana. It is only chance to see Garzelli, F.Masciarelli and Paolini together in my story. I would prefer this option personally, but if you make different opinion, feel free to write here...all comments are welcome, thank you! Smile

Vuelta, as you are switching teams there isn't much point in focusing on promotion.
