Stefano Garzelli collected another nice results after fantastic Giro, finishing 2nd on Marco Pantani Memorial and winning Tour de Beauce in Canada. He had to join Slovenian tour too, but he is really very tired and I´ve decided it will be better to send him on holidays. So Francesco Failli will be our leader here. Race contains two hard mountain stages, especially Vrsic (stage 1) and Krvavec (final climb in stage 3), both will test strenght of field. Main contenders are Pozzovivo (hope he will show himself in better shape than last month), Niemiec, maybe Sinkewitz and....Failli (at least I hope)

Thanks for all suggestions, but I won´t decide yet, this is still story about Acqua & Sappone in season 2009

Stage 1

Opening stage of race is the longest and probably hardest. We are heading towards several climbs, especially Vrsic (16km; 7,3%) can cause pain to many riders.
Leading group on first mountain sprint - Konig, Romanik, Kvachuk and Zanasca.

Leopold Konig is loosing his mates from the beginning of Vrsic climb.

Failli looks good today, he is working in front of reduced peloton.

Attack from Rutkiewitz, only few riders can follow, luckily Failli has no troubles to keep together with main contenders.

Konig is still in front, but Failli seems to be really strong!

While Konig was caught just after summit and dropped at the foot of last climb, it´s Rubiano, who attacked and gains nice advantage over main contenders.

Failli and Niemiec join him shortly before peak!

20km to go, leading group builts nic gap of one minute over chasing group including Pozzovivo, Sinkewitz, Rutkiewitz, Muto and Vasquez.

Francesco Failli feels he could do even better and attacks in last short ascent, just 6 or 7 km before line. Neither Niemiec nor Rubiano can follow!

He is imediatelly bridging huge gap and is heading to stage win!

Francesco Failli takes excellent stage win! I can´t believe how strong he can be!

I was really surprised, how "easy" he could win with daily form 0...he has probably far better fitness (90) than others |

Stage 2

Most of riders decided for peaceful ride, giving opportunity to weaker riders to win the stage. 10-men group worked well together in front and with 20km left to finish it was pretty sure that one of that rider will experience extraordinary success for himself.

Oleg Melehs takes it in close sprint ahead of Kump and Cziraki!

Peloton awoke in last kilometres. High pace and short steep hill shortly before finish caused split to several parts. It gave most profit for Failli who finished 11th and extended his overall lead!

Stage 3

Today stage finishes at long and hard climb Krvavec (17km; 6,1% average slope). I hope Failli won´t cracked and keep yellow jersey. It could be hard task, Niemiec and especially Pozzovivo have better climbing stats...
BOTD at the foot of final climb. They have no chance to succeed though.

They have been already caught, it´s Rutkiewicz who builts small advantage.

10km to go and we are again all together, but only for few moments...

...than Niemiec attacks! Failli, Pozzovivo and Sinkewitz are following.

Pozzovivo isn´t satisfied and attacks again and again!

I don´t like this view when Failli and Sinkewitz can´t follow Niemiec...

But he´s back! Both Niemiec and Failli are joining Pozzovivo. Sinkewitz is few metres behind, next is Rubiano.

No one wanted to rely in front, Sinkewitz and Rubiano were able to join leaders 1km before line.

Francesco Failli attacks! He wants to show his superiority over the whole field! Both Sinkewitz and rubiano immediately dropped off again...

...but not Niemiec and Pozzovivo! And Failli cracked few hundred meters before line, both climbers are easily going over him.

Przemyslaw Niemiec celebrates stage win! Failli lost 15 seconds and with only last flat stage remaining, he´s almost certain overall winner!
