Bontrager U23 - (Closed)

Instead of U23 giro de Italia, you could add the Giro Bio or Picolo Giro, i dont know te exact name, but that one is like the italian l'Avenir.

About scouting, you said colombians didnt show as strong as you wanted, but you could also look at other teams, that Beltrán from EPM UNE is looking good in the youngsters classification

Isn't that the Baby Giro?

And if we look at who's strong in the young riders classifications, he definitely should sign Olivier or maybe Bovenhuis

About the scouting regions, of course I would say: ''Look in the Netherlands!'', but they've got 12 regions, so you can better scout somewhere else, and only sign Dutchmen that impress in U23 rankings...
Maybe Vlaanderen?

It's GiroBio. Baby Giro, yes. Good talents you have there.

Cool! No World Championship U23 though?

I'll add that. No problem. Good idea.

I would like more of this, the proper name for some of these races, or at least a proper suffix like Espoirs for most of the races. Do both France and Belgium use Espoirs?

Signing off of other teams isn't really my objective, I'm not totally against it, but I have to adhere to the principles of the team which is to give young talents a chance. Riders already signed are getting a chance, and are less of a priority. Perhaps I would go after a young US rider on continental team since that is my teams home. I might also go after a rider who doesn't have a contract for next season with his current team. Also though, I only have so many roster spots, and 4 (maybe 5) young riders, plus Robin Eckmann really fills it up. Next season will have some more turnover as riders get to 23 years old and have to move on.

Tour des Pyrénées
August 1st, 2013
Semeac – Tarbes: 158.4 kms - Flat

(As a note, I hate flat stages... they are even worse when you don't have a sprinter...)
The Tour des Pyrénées has one flat stage before becoming a climbers race so all the sprinters that came were here for today. A breakaway has basically no chance.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Pyrenees/1s1.jpg

Only two riders were able to get away, and it probably wasn't much to their benefit... Andz Flaksis would share time out front with Robbert De Greef (Jo Piels). Well surprisingly this would benefit them as De Greef leads the Young Rider classification with the bonus time from the one intermediate sprint. Flaksis is in 2nd.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Pyrenees/1s2.jpg

Edgar Pinto (LA Alumínios) would find the right spot, sitting on the wheel of the Christina Watches train, able to pass Angelo Furlan for the win. Benoit Drujon (BigMat) would also get by Furlan.

Tour des Pyrénées
August 2nd, 2013
Pierrefitte Nestalas – St Lary Plat d'Adet: 142.5 kms - Mountains

Our second day of the Tour des Pryénées is much more suited for the team, with several climbs and steep grades. Balloni and Pizzaballa should be able to place well though some of the bigger teams will not be scared of the climbs.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Pyrenees/2s1.jpg

With the first KoM points of the race now available, the team would send out Jasper Stuyven to challenge for the points. Getting into an early breakaway with only Joseph Kukolla (Optum), Stuyven would win over the early category 1 climb, but be 2nd in at the end of the stage.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Pyrenees/2s2.jpg

The favorites would start their moves early, and Nuno Ribeiro (Efapel), Stéphane Rossetto (BigMat), Rui Sousa (Efapel), Christophe Le Mével (Cofidis), and Constantino Zaballa (Christina Watches) would create a gap over the yellow jersey of Edgar Pinto and his LA Alumínios team.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Pyrenees/2s3.jpg

The finish would not be nearly as exciting as Rui Sousa was able to just ride by everyone and finish over a minute up on the stage. The top 15 of the GC will sort itself out completely by the order riders finished.

Tour of Elk Grove
August 2nd, 2013
Elk Grove Village (ITT): 7.2 kms - Flat

The tour of Elk Grove is a nice warm up as the later part of the US cycling tours get underway and several teams are using the race to get ready for the Tour of Utah and more importantly the US ProCycling Challenge.

Our pan flat prologue is just a short lap around town, and should be a challenge to simply see how much power the legs can produce for about 10 minutes.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Elk/1s1.jpg

Tom Zirbel would be one of the first out of the start gate, and would set a time that would all the way up until the end, with only two of the last three riders able to beat his impressive time.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Elk/1s2.jpg

For Bontrager, Nathan Brown would set the best time, holding onto 5th after being 2nd to Zirbel for most of the day. Craddock would also clinch a top ten spot to give the team a good start.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Elk/1s3.jpg

It was not hard though to see why Taylor Phinney was both the race favorite and crowd favorite as he donned the Red, White, and Blue of the USA time-trial champion. He would set a time, that gives him a 5 second lead going into the next stage.

Tour des Pyrénées
August 3rd, 2013
Lannemezan – Boltaña: 166.7 kms - Mountains

The 3rd stage is another day in the mountains, with an HC climb finishing off the trip. A very fast decent finishes the race and could create gaps of its own. The earlier climbs won't make life any easier for the riders.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Pyrenees/3s1.jpg

Jasper Stuyven gets himself out of the peloton early and claims the category one climb to himself before joining the others in the BOTD.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Pyrenees/3s2.jpg

Fortunato Baliani (Nippo) bridges across to the BOTD, adding some firepower to the climbs for the breakaway. Most are aware though that he probably could leave them and go on his own at any time, and before long he does.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Pyrenees/3s3.jpg

On the final climb the favorites all move, trying to close down the gap to Baliani and keep him from gaining too much time. First over the top should be first down to the bottom.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Pyrenees/3s5.jpg

Fortunato Baliani wins the stage, going over two climbs alone and keeping out in front of the chasing peloton and race leaders. However the leaders do enough to keep the time gap very low and certainly keep Baliani from taking over the race lead.

Nice TT from Nathan at Elk Grove Wink

Kentaurus
Tour of Elk Grove
Auguyst 3rd, 2013
Under 23 Race

The second stage is a flat circuit with several sprint points to try and keep the race entertaining. The mass sprint at the end is what everyone will really be waiting for though.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Elk/2s1.jpg

With the major teams sprinters in the field and Taylor Phinney in control of the yellow jersey, the team went back to trying to have Caleb Ewan out in the break, taking the sprint points along the way.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BLS/2013/Elk/2s2.jpg

The finish was about as shocking as yesterday's finish. Taylor Phinney proved again to be the best rider at the race as he was able to sprint by everyone.
