Not a fan of the Amstel move at all. The uphill finish on Cauberg is always great fun, but now it wont be the same. I want the puncheurs winning the Ardennes, not punchy sprinters like EBH or Degenkolb.
The one good thing I can see is that guys like Gilbert will go hard earlier on the course than in the past, to drop EBH, Degenkolb, etc...

Yeah, that is true, it would be no good to focus on too much races and if he is really going for two grand-tours (it is a fact or assumption?) he cant have great early season probably.
And yeah, i know Sagan is much better rider.
Vuelta is on his calendar according to his latest homepage post, and I assume Argos don't want another Kittel-only TDF now they're WT.
Sagan's a better puncheur, for sure. But they're very equal at cobbles and sprinting imo
Sagan's a better sprinter and is also much stronger at cobbles. Riders like Degenkolp and Boonen can't win Amstel and never will
How do you know he's stronger cobbler ?
Sorry, but I didn't see Sagan riding 19th in Paris Roubiax in his first year as a pro.
And yes they can. Freire almost won Amstel this year and riders like EBH, Sagan or Degenkolb can as well. Worlds had very similar course to Amstel and I think you can check result yourself Boonen less so and would have to be rather lucky to win.
Both EBH and Sagan are targeting MSR, with Sagan doing Ronde and EBH, Robuaix as other big goals. Both will then go to Amstel. Not sure about Degenkolb yet though.

I think Boonen can win it, but then he would have to change his training and skip the cobbled season. Unlikely to happen
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

You put it there at the end. It won't happen
Anyway, after seeing some new Sky TTT pictures + old interviews, the team for Giro might be this. Only one I am not 100% sure on is Kosta.
Wiggins
Henao
Cataldo
Kiryenka
Siustou
Dombrowski
Lopez
Kennaugh
Pate

OPQS team launch live. It's at a velodrome, the riders are actually riding around it.

That is stupid. Amstel isn't meant for those guys, so don't move it to appeal to them.

So they're changing the Amstel back to how its classic profile (how it was pre-2002)? Fine by me.

I've always loved the Cauberg as a finish - really underrated as a final climb. I can see this minimising the impact though.

Oh, they're changing it from a wall-climbing competition to something more open ?
That's strange, I thought cycling was all about climbing the last hill/mountain as fast as possible. |

I also like that change, Vuelta-like wallie finish was pretty much boring and everyone was waiting for it, now we can maybe see some actual racing from riders like Cunego,Rodriguez and Gilbert, because bringing Sagan or Eddie with them to the finish would be suicide.

Yeah, we see him "only" riding 5th in his first Flanders appearence and 2nd in G-W (there are not cobbles so important, but it shows something right?). It is not important who is "better", but Dekenkolb should start pawning much more, if he should be compared to the Beast. I hope for a long rivarly in the future, i like them both.

Oh I know. By my statement I didn't imply Sagan is weak. It's just OT saying Degenkolb is weaker cobbler, while he's not. Degenkolb was very unlucky this year in both RvV and PR so we can't really judge his results. And in his first race got Top 20 in toughest classic out there. So yeah... I think he's massive potential there and is clearly not weaker than Sagan in my opinion anyway. Both will be great in few years anyway

... No Tour du Suisse?
That list has to be incomplete. It also misses stuff like Lombardia and obviously the Worlds.

Tour de Suiise wasn't shown by Eurosport if I remember this year as well. At least according to steephill.
Worlds are for granted, not sure about Lombardia.
