My brother is an amateur in France since the beginning of July and after a month he already has enough points for a category 2 licence.

In France you don't get points. You just buy the licence you want.

Or thats what the guys I train with do/have.

My brother was told by the club manager that each race the best get 5-3-2-1 points and to get a cat. 2 licence you need 20 points.

Maybe the guys who I train with have already "unlocked" those points ages back, and now just choose which licence they buy.

Nice. I did my first ever Pro/1/2/3 race, at a local crit series. It was mostly 2's and 3's with 2 cat 2's finishing off the front (my teammate was 2nd)

Before that I got 2nd in the Juniors race, then did the 3/4's race, launched 2 teammates into a break of 4, were they took 1st and 3rd then I took 3rd in the field sprint for 7th.

Nice man. I wish I could come race in Cali. Always a race to do!

Did a road race today. 63 miles roling to flat, I tried to get in the early breaks missing the only one that got away.when we passed a masters field a few of them crashed, the guy in front of me went down hard, I took a bike to the knee, but ninja'ed my way over without unclipping. 8 guys got off the front and had 20 seconds going into the last 10 miles. The rest of the fied (65 starters) slowed up and I attacked, my wheel slipped into a crack then out when I attacked, i thought I was good to go, but my front wheel had picked up some big ass goat heads and I was at the side of the road watching the pack ride by with a flat tire. Pretty disapointing.

Just finished a 3 day omnium. I got 15th in the tt, 36th in the crit, and somwhere in the top 30 for the circuit race. I did the juniors circuit race, with no teammates. There were around 20 riders in the juniors raced and on the last lap, up the hill to a hairpin one of the stronger guys attacked. Through the hairpin I was 5 th wheel, with the solo rider 20 meters ahead of the front of the pack. I jumped with 200 meters to go and it went down to the photo finish. My bike throw got me within a few inches of winning.

Definitely not the largest field, but 25 juniors in September is impressive. The guy in white who won raced with the Western Regional Team at l'Abitibi, while the 6tth placed rider, raced Red River Gorge. The sprint is about 8:45 in and you can see me swearing right after my bike throw(it looks like a second bike throw) 36MPH was my sprint speed

Just in the process of buying a new bike (finally), to be ready for next season, bought the frame, forks, saddle, stems and bar.

Gunna be all Pro-Lite, cos I don't know anyone who rides them... (maybe thats a bad thing, who knows!). It was going to be a BMC first, or a Colnago, but meh, can't sniff ya nose at £100 off a carbon frame, that looks ok to me.

It'll just be standard Shimano Ultegra. Nothing flashy or too expensive, unfortunately I have to buy everything myself, so I do have a rather strict, and low, budget Sad Hence why I have to wait till around Christmas before buying the last few things...

Look out Britain, i'm getting a racing license for next season!

Never done anything that even vaguely resembles a race before, so it'll properly be late in the year i get the courage to try it, but hey, worth a shot right?

Ultegra is the way to go as far as Shimano. I've never used SRAM but its cheaper than shimano.

Second That. I got the new Force grouppo with a Red Crankset and I love it all. Getting used to the different shifting is a null point and I actually like being able to pull the shift levers back to the bars for a sprint and such.
