Race Report
 Tour de Normandie Stage 1
Just like the race in Croatia, the opening stage here starts with a very short time trial. Again, the time gaps won't be signiicant but it is a kilometre longer than the Istrian prologue. Sky's hopes lie with Wesley Hoogenboom who is a specialist in these short time trials, with Bakker and Thompson also good against the clock.
Early on in the day, it looked like Cofidis would dominate the day, Zingle going fastest before his team mate Petit knocked him off the top. Saramotins and Duque also set decent times but Petit was the pick of the bunch and he would end up on the podium, along with Zingle, at the end of the stage.
In the end, there was only one team better than Cofidis, as British team Endura placed five riders in the top eight. Camano, Wetterhall, Partridge and Dempster all put themselves in the mix with great rides but there was one man who annihiliated everybody. Paul Voss set the course on fire as he went round nine seconds quicker than Petit. NINE! On a five kilometre prologue. Outstanding.
As expected, it was a quiet day for the Sky Development Team as the majority of their team don't enjoy these rides against the clock. However, as we had hoped, Hoogenboom was really up for it and finished just behind the Endura horde in ninth place. A great result for the Dutchman. Thompson was just inside the top twenty, with Bakker a little bit further back in 26th. Not a bad day for the team.

Race Report
Tour de Normandie Stage 2
This first road stage is arguably the hardest stage of the race with three categorised climbs, even though all of them are in the first half of the route. Every day should be very similar, with riders going away early before being brought back by the sprinters' teams for the bunch finish. But can any riders escape the pack right until the end? Sky will certainly be hoping so.
After an early group of nine, including Thompson, was reeled in, a much smaller group got away. These four riders were Bichot, Guldhammer, Powers and Gilbert and they worked well together to build up a maximum advantage of eight minutes. The weather was, predictably, appalling, pouring with rain from start to finish but Sky's young Belgian doesn't mind a bit of rain.
It was Europcar, Saur, Endura and Bretagne doing all of the work today to bring back the escapees. Strangely, Cofidis were doing nothing, despite the fact that they have three sprinters here and were second and third on GC. Despite attempts from the front four to stay away, they were caught with fifteen kilometres to go and the bunch sprint was inevitable. Hammarling was trying his best to get involved but with Huigsloot way down the peloton, he would have to do it with just Hoogenboom to help.
And it was Pelucchi, repaying his team for all of their work, who took the win beating the Cofidis trio of Petit, Dumoulin and Duque. Hammarling had to settle for sixteenth as the pace was just too hot here, further proving the need for Sky to try other things as we just don't have the sprinters to compete with these guys. Petit takes the lead of the race by three seconds from Voss.
