Thats good to know, because its quite a common card in laptop machines.
I'm afraid Boycie's card is from a previous generation of technology though, I can't see it working unfortunately |

Hi all,
I´m here to ask several questions:
1- Will my config run PCM08? P4 Northwood Socket 478 - 2.66Ghz/1GB RAM/Geforce FX5600 (it runs PCM06 totally ok and it runs PCM07 on low settings because this one is a memory sucker)
2- PCM08 eats more memory than PCM07 on 3D race?
3- PCM08 demands more from the Graphic Card than PCM07?
Thanks in advance (I haven´t got the game yet) |

I've sort of got the game working but having trouble with the race screen. i assumed this was something to do with graphics so followed steps to see what the graphics card on the laptop is (the laptop I'm using is not mine).
Under the control panel-system-device manager-display adapters it says I have a SiS mirage graphics card. Is this good enough to run the game?
Thank you for your time |

1 - Everything is fine except the graphics card, which is lower than the recommended minimum settings. I expect however that you could run the game on the bare minimum (no spectators, no forests, no AA, no shaders) at a squeeze.
2 - Well, it requires more memory to run so in that aspect, yes. If you're referring to the memory leaks that affected the last game, so far I haven't heard anything on the matter.
3 - Very much so. Everything in the 3D world has been remodelled but your graphics card is not going to show you most of those nice new changes.
Hope that answers your questions OK |

No. Sorry to be blunt but the SiS Mirage cards are just not cut out for modern 3D games. There is a big difference between the different versions of Mirage cards though (1, 2 and 3, with 3 being the latest released), although even 3rd version will struggle to run games just a few years old. Sorry, but it ain't a gaming card |

And I was wrong! Good news for laptop fans everywhere!
Boycie got his Intel 910 to run the game, if a little twitchy. Hopefully it'll run smoothly with no shaders |
