He did it again! Mad man!
Great to see Majka attacking in two consecutive stages. The breakaway was too strong in the previous stage, but it looks like he can win hilly stages too. I guess he has a shot at the KoM jersey too now if he goes in the breakaway on stage 20. Then again, I'd rather see Brambilla trying something there to get into the GC top 10.

Another good showing from Morton. Again missing out on key seconds and points due to the breakaway succeding Here's hoping that this two strong days won't be the last good days for him here.

Fun to see us at the front, pretending we had something to ride for there when not being in the breakaway
Good to see Galta stay with the group and get the same time as most others GC contenders. I just hope he can have a great day in the mountains, which could make all the difference in this race.
And congratulations, alexkr00! Another team sneaking away some valuable points due to breakaway success. Strong showing from Majka being up for it again! |

Nice victory there, alex, congrats! Majka looking good throughout the whole stage, certainly deserved that one!

Did you mean Lanterne rouge?
In which case did you mean Maglia nera?

Great recovery from a heroic effort yesterday to finish 8th behind the break, further highlighted by König suffering.
Now is the perfect timing for a flat stage to fully rest before the decisive triple header.
No big expectations for Ciolek in likely his last chance, I'd rather like to avoid any more crashes. Heider going down today could be catastrophic, with Bevin already gone he's the only mountain helper left.

This happens when writing a report with "Flamme Rouge" at the same time.
Yes, you are totally right. |

Too bad we didn't join that breakaway. It was destined to go all the way, and one of the reasons we brought Kastrantas.
We can't complain though, as we got our fair share of good luck. Yuriy Vasyliv kept his 20th in the GC. Looking at the stages to come we are likely to see him drop back, but hoping for somewhere close to 20th.
Two crashvictims obviously isn't good, but as they are out of top 50 it doesn't matter too much. I just hope they aren't injured, as we want as many finishers as possible.
Nice win for eBuddy here, and in general some good points for teams not performing top results here.

And the slight form fade seems to continue, lucky to avoid any gaps here, but Morton is starting to look a bit strong for my liking.
Positive of the stage is that Carapaz finally did something for Alarcon! Hope to see him plenty at the front in the decisive mountain stages with Alarcon.

Another hillystage without Abal loosing time and now those critical stages is over, just hope he can keep on deliver in the mountains!
Ludvigsson getting us our 2nd stage podium in this race, can Ahlstrand take another one in the next stage? Hopefully we dont need to work to reel in another breakaway since we only got Ahlstrand+leadout Vedel Kvist and 3 guys sitting in the top 30 GC, would not want them to waste energy at the front. |

Mixed feeling. Great that Konrad joined the right break. We're really doing well in that regard. Bit gutted that he had a bad day though. In that group he should've atleast finished 2nd.
Oh well, we have 4 riders in the top 30 of GC and 2 in top 20. If we keep that up and win the team ranking we go home happy.

This Giro started great for Evonik but I'm starting to at annoyed. Everyone crashes in the wrongest moments. Wearing the KoM jersey - getting injured in a crash. Being in the fight for a top 15 GC result - crashing and falling out of the top 40. Being amongst the top favourites on a hilly stage - crashing.
I know I can't complain with anything in this race after that first week but I'm not happy how it went downhill from there.

Cool race to follow and great reports.
Just sad seen from the spectator point of view that it not very open at the top.
But from 5 all the way down to 18 many short caps and lots of cool moves to gain GC position, can happen on the coming stages.
So good luck to you !

Congrats Ferrero on the win. Well deserved after some bad luck already this season with his puncheurs.
Dumoulin and Frison were obvious non finishers. In fact surprised they survived that long. That said, I had expected them to be OTL on a mountain stage.
Losing the Lanterne Rouge is unlucky. Wonder if Groenewegen can maybe still go for it. Would at least mean, he is surviving the 20th stage then. |

Nice to see Kastrantas picking up some points here. It was why I brought him, and moving up to 40th in the GC also makes me believe he can actually keep inside the top 50. Losing Liphongyu was a bit of a blow, as he was one of those riders I was certain would make it. I know that Stocker is going to get dropped sooner or later, so he would have been my preferred option.
Also Vasyliv crashing and ending up in the very rear of the peloton gives me an eery feeling for the upcoming mountains.
Congrats to Podium and Ferrero for good results in a huge race.

At this point I am sure Guarnieri is just trolling me, would have been a great stage for Marzuki and Hermans ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Finally no more flat stage until the final day. Tired of them.
Now hopefully Morton will keep his good shape from the past few stages. Would love to avoid breakaway wins as well.
