Some out, but who will stay?
We are approaching the a new season quickly and after some long negotiations we currently have a squad 19 riders.
That means that seven rider leave us. For some riders, like Grand Tour regular Sigurd Nesset, the age has come where we believe they no longer have the needed qualities to be at the highest level. We very much thank them for the efforts over the years.
For other riders, like Jonas Vingegaard, Roger Adria and Benjamin Brkic, we had a clear intention to keep them, but unfortunately we couldn't find an agreeable compromise at the current time.

Mads x2 have been this teams identity for many years. This might be the time for a change, as we see the need for a rebuild of the team. That means that several strong riders potentially could see this an opportunity to find a new home.

Würtz should have a big market as one of the best leader types on the market so far. Should give you a big haul for whatever your rebuild plans are...

Olala, Würtz available surely must tempt a lot of teams! Excited to see what kind of deal/trade there could be for him We will obviously talk seeing our nationalities «crashing». Looking forward to it, and definitely kind of hopeful there is at least one star for everyone |

Surely Wurtz is not actually available.
I'm very interested to see what direction you end up taking if you do indeed sell him. Big talents and a full rebuild, risking demotion? Or a retool to shift in terrain focus towards something else?
Interesting availability overall too, although unfortunately not necessarily in the riders I would be most interested in. I'm still sure we'll talks, and even more likely compete, as always!

You should have a 'fun' time reading a whole lot of PMs with that Wurtz availability

Interesting to see a potential rebuild coupled with medium availability at most
But Würtz should clearly be able to finance a rebuild!

Würtz may be the main attraction, but I see another potentially interesting name there who is more likely to be in a sensible price range |

The Grieg-Maersk HQ had a couple of hectic days when the transfer window opened.
We ended up saying goodbye to our world champion, Mads Würtz, with a clear goal to juvenate the theam. We had two thoughts in our mind from the start, either to try and collect the "golden Norwegian generation of climbers" or try to get some of the biggest talents in the world.
In the end, the team ended up going for the rider we see as the heir of Mads Pedersen: Tibor Del Grosso.
Del Grosso is no stranger to Norwegian and Danish cycling. He's a rider that knows that the cycling culture in these two countries bring forward some very interesting riders, that he will train with in the coming years:
Tibor will ride his first senior seaon on loan at our friends in Duvel - Tsingtao, before joining up with the Grieg squad again in 2026, where he will learn from the very best in Mads Pedersen.
| Tibor Del Grosso | 1.000 | 22 years | Northern Classics €1.000.000 |
| FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | | 69 | 59 | 68 | 61 | 71 | 72 | 64 | 71 | 69 | 70 | 70 | 65 | 67 | | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | ↓↓↓ | | 76 | 59 | 71 | 61 | 80 | 79 | 74 | 81 | 77 | 73 | 73 | 66 | 67 |
While we didn't succeed in brining in the strongest Norwegian climbers, we did manage to get in both Johannes Staune-Mittet and Embret Svestad-Bardseng. Both promising climbers that we hope to see in the Grieg jersey for years to come.
We've also signed two Danish riders in Magnus Bak Klaris and Alexander Kamp, and also loaned in two big talents from Denmark in William Blume Levy and Fredrik Wandahl. Also joining is the Italian Nicola Bagioli.
Departing is the already mentioned Würtz, as well as Nils Eekhoff, Tore Andre Vabo, Aleksandar Roman, Truls Korsaeth, Tushantha Rajapakshage and Andreas Stokbro. Some of them were definitively riders that we would have like to kept and we wish them all the best of luck going forward.

@SotD: Yeah, good point. Haven't 100 per cent decided on exactly the route to go, so we'll see how it turns out.
@knockout: Yeah, it got expensive. And I guess I've left behind any chance of staying up with the other signings in the window that followed, but that might be a fun challenge for the years to come.
@wj: We will, hopefully he can do a good job in the coming years.

Honoured to be the first training ground for Del Grosso, thanks for choosing Duvel - Tsingtao to give him his first experience in the pro peloton. He'll get plenty of rides across the season and we hope you'll be happy with the results!

Del Grosso is going to dominate for many years to come. Very nice to already have him in the wings ready for when Pedersen's reign ends. And worth the wage difficulties long term hopefully.

A big call to move Wurtz and go for a rebuild. It's gonna be more interesting to see what this team looks like a year from now.
