Foss is going to be a really good rider in the future, very nice signing. Nice start for Evans in Romandie

BMC would also like to announce the Signing of Kenneth Foss (Norway) who has dominated the U23 circuit this year with ease. We are also looking to sign another young rider this season, and currently considering many options including Norwegian teammates Tor Larson and Henning Vatne, or American Seth Vasquez. We continue to scout our home region of Switzerland as well, but have been unable to find any riders ready for the professional level yet.
Wow, the guy is amazing.
Extraordinary stats.
Hey, I wonder, do you use Kentaurus' XML files? They make the stats of U23 riders more realistic
(No, I know that a talent like this is possible. Great that he turns out this good!)

... ... ... Well the answer is yes, I do use my own XML files.
So anyhow, I looked after I signed him to see his potentials. Dude is a monster, going to be a cross of Tony Martin and Fabian Cancellara. Will be a TT beast, but also will be able to ride in tours well and cobbles.

Tour of Romandie
April 25th, 2013
Saint Maurice – Renens: 137 kms - Flat
The route on stage two is somewhat of a mix, the finish running in fairly flat, looks like a sprint, but a kick right at the line may make it tough, also there are three fairly demanding climbs, but not too tough the climbers and GC favorites will want to attack. If this stage were later in a race I'd say the breakaway has a terrific chance, but on the first road race of the tour, I don't think they have much of a chance either.
An early breakaway forms, with a group of three riders started by Steve Morabito, Iván Gutiérrez (Movistar) and Bert-Jan Lindeman (Vacansoleil) also move into the break and race for the KoM points. Iván takes the first, but Lindeman would finish with the lead in the category.
A couple of punchers don't wait long to attack as Martin Elmiger (IAM) and Jelle Vanendert (Lotto) make a move off the front the peloton doesn't give a big response and lets the pair try to bridge across the four and a half minute gap to the breakaway.
On the second climb of the day the two groups are joined and a more spirited fight for the KoM takes place. The only rider who looks to be struggling in this group right now is the man who started it all Steve Morabito. The third climb would go about the same, though the peloton had really started to pull back the time.
On the descent from the second climb Sky's team leader Bradley Wiggins would take a fall, it doesn't look like anyone else went with him and surprisingly none of his team seems aware this happened!
Wiggens looks to be okay though as he gets back on his bike, just around a minute back from the peloton. He would have no problem rejoining the group, but I wouldn't want to be the teammate who was supposed to be there for him when they get back on the bus. Angry Brits can be very scary.
On the final descent worse happens towards the back of the peloton, and looky at who was caught out of position. White Jersey Cameron Meyer (Orica) and teammate Matthew Goss were both in the back and were taken out by this crash, a hard lesson for the youngster, but one he needs to learn.
Orica would send the whole team back to try and regain contact with the peloton, which is a big question now as the Omega-Pharma sprint train is controlling the front and laying down a very fast pace with Mark Cavendish at the front. I guess they aren't riding this stage for him.
Instead it's teammate Julian Vermote who is able to reward his team with a victory. Maybe they knew something we didn't about this guy but it sure worked. Romain Feillu (Vacansoleil) and Tyler Farrar (Garmin) will join him on the podium as a very mixed bag of riders rounds out the top 10.

Tour of Romandie
April 26th, 2013
Prilly – Les Granges: 153.7 kms - Hilly
Stage three offers some hilly terrain, and really one of the toughest climbs we can find with an average grade well over 10%. But those tougher climbs are only the middle of the stage, and all the GC favorites should have no problem staying towards the front.
A small breakaway of four goes out and will compete for the King of the Mountains classification. Pierrick Fédrigo (FDJ) would take the lead, with Stefano Agostini (Cannondale) and Sebastian Lander both close behind. Daryl Impey (Orica) would round out the foursome.
The stage featured relatively few attacks as the favorites raced downhill to the finish line where Canadian François Parisien (Argos) would surprise everyone with a dominating sprint that launched him right to the front at the line. Favorites Contador (Saxo), Nibali (Astana), Evans and Schleck (RSLT) round out the top 5.

The GC sees Bradley Wiggens fall out, as Vasil Kiryienka becomes the team leader. Wiggens lost just over two minutes, probably still suffering from his crash yesterday. The bonus seconds at the finish adjust the overall just a bit, but not enough to change the top.

April 27th, 2013
Payerne – Payerne: 144.8 kms - Flat
The last day for the sprinters, and the final day of respite for the GC favorites as the final two stages are mountains and a time trial. Cavendish looks to be an overwhelming favorite. The race starts with some decent hills, before leveling off, though a very short, but very sharp climb does bother the last portion of the race.
A decent size breakaway is led by Michael Albasini (Orica) which should put some concern to the peloton. Though without too many hills on the route perhaps the chances aren't that great. Katusha's Alexandr Kolobnev also is in the break and will likely work well with Albasini.
The intermediate sprint would only be challenged by two riders, Kolobnev would win over Michael Mørkøv (Saxo) with Albasini leading the remaining bit of the breakaway for the third position.
As expected Albasini and Kolobnev would leave the breakaway and push for a stage win on their own, but the peloton wasn't going to let them get away and would bring them back around 10 kilometers from the finish line, setting up the sprinters.
Things aren't right in the peloton though as sprinters seem to have disappeared?! Omega Pharma is leading, but seem to have lost where Mark Cavendish went and they are starting to look around. Orica seems to just be realizing that Goss is well off the back and won't be participating in the sprint.
All the confusion allows BMC's Sebastian Lander to get a good jump on the remaining sprinters for the win, showing the Danish National Champions jersey (not to be confused with the Swiss that Kohler wears). Bozic (Astana) would get second with Belletti (AG2R) third. Cavendish would do a great job of finding his way back and taking 4th.

The GC doesn't take a huge change, Lander actually moves into the top 10, though shouldn't be able to hold it over the next two stages. He also jumps over Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) for best Young Rider, so he will be in the white jersey tomorrow.

Tour of Romandie
April 28th, 2013
Marly – Les Diablerets: 179.8 kms - Mountains
The hardest stage of the tour and a very high chance of setting the winner of the tour. Four categorized climbs, three of which earn category one. The riders will go twice over the Col de la Croix, once each direction, and in between they climb the very steep, Col du Sépa which has an average slope of 12.3% on its upper portion.
A normal breakaway did get formed after many riders struggled trying. Martin Kohler may have tried a bit too hard as he popped on the first trip up the Col de la Croix, but he was able to get some time out in front of the peloton with his Swiss champion jersey, and later was able to get some time behind the peloton too.
Carlos Betancur (AG2R) and Luis León Sánchez (Blanco) would make some daring attacks on the first climb up Col de la Croix, giving them a significant amount of distance to go before the finish line, and two more climbs. The pair would catch the breakaway and join with Dario Cataldo giving the breakaway quite a bit of climbing power.
More attacks would come up the Col du Sépa as Thibaut Pinot and Samuel Sánchez make their moves. Thibaut looking to regain the lead in the young riders classification as well as move up tin the GC. His effort would pay off as Sebastian Lander expectantly couldn't keep the pace up the climbs.
On the final climb though all the previous attacks would be brought back as the peloton led by RadioShack and Astana lead their men up the climb. Nibali and Schleck then move off the front with only a quick burst leaving the others scrambling to catch up.
Only Alberto Contador (Saxo) would be able to rejoin the pair as he caught them quickly on the descent. Contador is wearing the green sprint points leader jersey currently giving our front group a little more color. Evans and Scarponi (Lampre) have teamed up behind trying to get back any time they can.
The finish would only see a half-hearted sprint as the three riders were exhausted and unable to muster much energy for race. Nibali had led the group down the descent and would also lead the three across the line, as Contador just gets by Schleck to take third on the stage.

The GC sees some gaps and the favorites come clear. Though the ranking doesn't actually change in the top four places, Nibali does extend his overall lead. Pinot reclaims the young rider classification, while Stefano Agostini (Cannondale) will claim the Mountain classification.

Larciano – Larciano: 200.8 kms - Flat
The stage around Larciano is pegged as a sprinters stage, but the sharp climbs could open in up to the punchers, a breakaway, or leave the sprinters with some climbing ability as the only ones left to fight out for a win.
The early breakaway featured four riders, certainly the most notable was BMC's Tejay Van Garderen, as I'm not quite sure how the field let him slip away into this break. With him was Anatoliy Pakthusov (ISD), Kristjan Fajt (Adria) and Eugenio Bani (Amore). Tejay would lead the group up all the climbs, Pakthusov and Fajt would to a great job of staying with him, while Bani would yo-yo all the way up before rejoining on the way down.
On the final climb, Tejay would finally shed all of his counterparts, but only as the peloton was nearly on him. Mikhail Ignatiev (Katusha) would launch an attack and go past Van Garderen who seemed too tired at this point to really react. The peloton would swallow him shortly.
Ignatiev wouldn't get far and a new attack would come let by Matteo Tosotto (Saxo), with Danilo Di Luca (Vini), and Fabian Wegmann (Garmin) on his wheels, the peloton would try to respond, but was struggling to keep the pace. BMC now had to take leadership for its leader for the race Daniel Oss.
The small group would be brought back, only to see Jens Voigt yell at his legs and attack, the 41 year old German causes the peloton to pick up even more speed as BMC continues on the front with Marco Pinotti and Brent Bookwalter both time-trial specialists to bring back the RadioShack rider.
Today was a day for Jens though as he would not be brought back and the sprint was only for second place. Fellow German Fabian Wegmann would prove he still had some energy left as he races ahead of Sacha Modolo (Bardiani) and Daniel Oss.

Tour of Romandie
April 29th, 2013
Versoix – Collogne: 16.8 kms - Flat
The final stage is a relatively short time-trial with only a small hill right near the end of the stage that may challenge any rider who didn't put a little bit back in reserve. There are several positions that could see a change in the GC, so getting everything right could be vital to someone wanting to move up, or someone who is dearly hanging on.
Early on the best time would be set by David Zabriskie (Garmin) who would cross in 21 minutes 59 seconds, and would be one of only two riders under the 22 minute mark taking second on the stage and moving up in the GC to 23rd.
The best time though would be set by Bradley Wiggens (Sky) who would top Big Z's time by 24 seconds at 21'35". He also would jump up six places to twelfth overall. No one else would threaten those times, the rest of the stage.
Cadel Evans wearing his Australian TT Champion jersey would be looking to hold onto 4th ahead of Michele Scarponi (Lampre) or possibly move to third with a good time and if Andy Schleck (RSLT) struggled on the course. Niether would happen though as Evan had a rough day, and lost 4th place.
The race would come down to Contador (Saxo) and Nibali (Astana) and Contador would set a fast pace crossing the checkpoint in 4th 24 seconds behind Wiggens best time. And finishing 5th only 38 seconds behind. Nibali would be pushing hard behind to ensure his lead doesn't evaporate on the last day.
At the intermediate checkpoint Nebali crossed 5th four seconds down on Alberto Contador, the race was starting to get tight, but clearly Nibali was ready for the pressure as he shifted up a gear and started to send the times the other direction, finishing 4th overall, three seconds ahead of Contador and winning the Tour.
