NEW ZEALAND CYCLE CLASSIC 
Stage 1 – Massey University (ITT) 6.5km
Tom Zirbel/Team Optum was first off the ramp today and whizzed around the 6.5km course in 8m 48s
Swift was our first rider to cover the route and would finish 24s slower but in 74th place
Rovny/Ceramica Flaminia - Fondriest would make the top 30
Tennant/Madison Genesis would finish 16s slower
Time trial specialist and one of the pre stage favourites Ben Jacques-Maynes/Jamis - Hagens Berman would finish the day in 8th place
Riders who also put in good rides were Friedman/Team optum (9th)
Trussov/Cyclingteam De Rijke - Shanks (7th)
Schumacher/Christina Watches - Onfone (4th)
And our newly crowned New Zealand TT Champion Bauer (6th)
Only two riders could win the stage and they were Bibby/Madison Genesis
And last man to start Sutton/Team Novo Nordisk
