Giro d'Itália

Stage 12

After days in green today Di Luca was in pink

We did what we were supposed to: O'Grady was on the day's break and no LA MSS rider worked in the bunch!

Nothing important occured during the stage as expected... In the last 20km the group was losing time and so O'Grady tried his luck all alone!!

Unfortunately he was cught with less than 4km to the end...

Meanwhile something was hapening in the peloton! More than half the riders were being left back! Di Luca and his main mates were in the 1st group but was someone of value losing time??

At the front Hushovd took the stage ahead of Stefan Van Dijk and Robert Hunter!

...and this time I have a proof!! The judges wont dare cheating the results today!! There wasn't enough time to verify but at least Riccò (in purple) was identified in the 2nd group!

Stage
1 Thor Hushovd Crédit Agricole 3h12'27
2 Stefan Van Dijk Française des Jeux s.t.
3 Robert Hunter Barloworld s.t.
4 Paride Grillo CSF Group - Navigare s.t.
5 Luca Paolini Acqua e Sapone - Caffè Mokambo s.t.
6 Francesco Gavazzi Lampre s.t.
7 Tom Boonen Quick·Step s.t.
8 William Bonnet Crédit Agricole s.t.
9 Gerald Ciolek Team Columbia s.t.
10 Jacopo Guarnieri Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni - Androni Giocattoli s.t.
...
73 Riccardo Riccò Gerolsteiner + 57''
GC
1 Danilo Di Luca LA - MSS - Póvoa de VarzÃm 44h15'39
2 Riccardo Riccò Gerolsteiner + 1'31
3 Fränk Schleck Team CSC Saxo Bank + 1'36
4 Mikel Astarloza Euskaltel - Euskadi + 3'26
5 Samuel Sánchez Euskaltel - Euskadi + 4'26
6 Gilberto Simoni Quick·Step + 4'32
7 Kim Kirchen Team Columbia + 4'38
8 Damiano Cunego Lampre + 5'13
9 Eros Capecchi Scott - American Beef + 6'13
10 Franco Pellizotti Liquigas + 6'29
...Well... after these 2 stages I'll probably gamble in Euromillions! Luck is with us!! Every favorite lost about a minute to Di Luca! The next 4 days will be absolutely decisive to the outcome of the Giro... Who knows maybe Di Luca really has a chance at the pink jersey!

In Giro I support him after Menchov (vs. Contador), but after the Tour in hell with him

Di Luca has achieved his main peak in the Ardennes...
He'll probably fade away in the last week...

Giro d'Itália

Stage 13

Today we face one of the toughest stages of the italian competition

With only 7km Monte Grappa started: 30km of ascent to begin with!!

David Blanco of Caisse comanded the peloton for a reasonable period of time... he left his mark on many legs

Di Luca was losing stamina but fortunately the spaniard cessed his effort

But others assumed the control of the bunch! With 3km to the first top this was the main group!

Nevertheless the downhill provided a chance for may riders to recover their place...

At Passo di Rolle the pace was not so high and a break was formed!

However the sinuous descent was a deserved prize for everyone!

After that it was Passo di Valles and now Passo Duran where the first serious moves were expected!

The bravest one was Capecchi who attacked before everyone!

Then Sella, Gadret, Pellizotti and Chavanel...

...Kirchen, Simoni and Astarloza decided to have a go too!

Di Luca in a defensive tactic remained in the pack headed by Moreno qwho was doing a very good job!

Cunego was the next gentleman...

...and right after him Schleck! In this moment Riccò grabed his machine and went away as well! Di Luca couldnt stay still anymore...still the strenght wasnt abundant...

However he was able to reach the tail of the newly formed group!

When reaching the summit Riccò launched a new offensive!! Only a few could follow!

...In fact only the young Capecchi was able to be with him in the aproach to Zoldo Alto!!

There Di Luca still remained in a critical position..

But right after the short but steep hill saw some serious moves in the groupl! Everyone wanted to have a go!! Di Luca was in suffering...

Though Astarloza's move led the italian to make one last effort the arrival was close!!

At the finish Capecchi finally broke down! Riccò was takin the win once more

But Schleck wasnt far!!

The rest of the group was close too! Maybe it was still possible to maintain the Maglia Rosa! Di Luca searched for his last strengths and tried to keep up with the rest of them...

But Riccò conquered the victory! Grrr!! Why doesnt Interpol go to his house?!?!

Di Luca lost some time even though he has finished in top15! The Pink jersey was probably lost but a podium place was maintained...

Stage
1 Riccardo Riccò Gerolsteiner 5h12'27
2 Eros Capecchi Scott - American Beef + 30

Giro d'Itália

Etapa 14

Another tough day. Today the riders will face 239km the Passo di Falzarego right away!

The hostilities began with Paul Martens from Rabobank. Other names with hours of delay in the GC followed such as Boasson Hagen...

We had Blanco again in the head of the peloton punishing many legs!

In the course of the climb we realised the spectators raised up a level this year!

Close to the top Pellizotti and Sella placed their typical attack.. and quickly got caught...

From Passo Pordoi on Blanco had CSF Navigare's company in the comand of the pack.

At Passo Pordoi Pellizotti was gone but this time he got to integrate the breakaway!

Passo di Sella and Passo Gardena passed without relevant events. and the peloton headed with an eased pace to Passo di Pennes which would decide the stage!

Meanwhile the last limb was reached.Frank lead the pack though unimaginable gradients as Gustov's face, right behind him, shows!!

Once more a youngster launched the first attack: Mollema!!

Sella and Capecchi went after him!

...as well as great part of top20! Plenty attacks happened but none got any major advantage...

...due to Larsson's great display!

Bu then... the inevitable Riccò!

F. Schleck followed! Di Luca who had eaten an out of date yogurt responded with some delay...

...and was out of the front group: Riccò, Schleck and Pellizotti!

Di Luca's group was only defined in the descent: Sella,Scarponi, Capecchi, Mollema, Karpets and Astarloza

However there was no teamwork in the chase group, so the lead of 1 min at the top of Passo di Pennes was enlarged! The 3 at the front would discuss the victory but there was only one favourite...

...in the end "The One We Know" won...

After them Mollema isolated and only then the group headed by our itallian...one more step down the GC..things become to look ugly...
