Yes it is like 2013 again - with the same pathetic hypocritical reaction from most forum members then.
Seemingly if a Movistar, Tinkoff, Astana or AG2R rider etc. wins it is no problem, but if it is a Sky rider on a climb then it is the biggest FU to all cycling fans.
No I don't believe Sky are clean - but then I don't believe anyone else around them is either which is the only thing I can believe by most of sourpuss responses.
The fact that Thomas, Kwiatkowski and Gallopin are highly placed says it all about this climb - Angliru it ain't.

wogsrus - Impressed? Is that really the word for it? I would say something along the lines of gobsmacked, stunned or that its just plain unbelievable
Porte winning isn't really a surprise, its the way that stage played out on the climb and Thomas holding on that is the unbelievable part
I agree completely, with that said i think Porte is on the same stuff aswell, but it's clearly Thomas that is the laughable thing today.... That just can't happen without some major help from u know, substances.. |

Indeed. Not the hardest stage at all. And with most of the very best climbers in Tirreno and those, who are in P-N aren`t in top form yet like Aru, Talansky etc., the form factor is very important.
And Thomas obviously has this very good form, so does Gallopin.
Not saying Thomas is clean, but on a climb like this with steady but lower percentages, this is nothing, that is unbelievable at all. |

So PCS has sorted itself out now
Before everyone completely loses their sh*t (although that seems a bit late) i see Gallopin Top10. Fuglsang apparently is back to his best ever in 4th. Wellens and Dumoulin found some improved climbing legs. As did Edet, Vichot, Trofimov and Gautier a bit further behind. And count Bouet and Chavanel amongst those above normal performance.
Either suddenly a lot of people are openly doping or this wasn't the hardest of climbs.
And back to everyone losing their sh*t

We don't have a problem with Porte winning, we have a problem with Sky turning so many average/bad climbers in world class climbers in a short period of time. It's suspicious as fuck. I bet Sky can make a climber out of Kittel if they want to.

This... And we do have a problem with Porte, because he was an average climber that they turned into a world class climber, just that it was a few years ago now |

Short period of time in this example though are 5 1/3 seasons, which is basically half a sportlers career.
I guess with some training you could at least improve a lot within that time. |

Yeah, Porte probably isn't the best example as he was strong in his first few seasons (obviously nowhere near this strong). Sky's transformations of riders is what gets me, Froome from nothing to World beater, Thomas from classics rider to climber etc.
Porte's mountain sprinting can be somewhat overlooked today but the fact Thomas could hold his wheel when many other notable climbers (note: actual climbers) couldn't is ridiculous. It wasn't the most difficult climb and form was obviously a factor, but we're fast approaching an important part of the season and most riders can't afford to be in poor form at this stage.

Infortunios sin fin en #ParisNice: abandono de Intxausti, pinchazo de Ion, caÃda de Rubén - Movistar on twitter.
Not so lucky today. I dont know whats wrong with Xausti, Ion probably couldnt hang on for top-10 placements, but Fernandez looked strong today. On the other hand, Birdie did extremely well today while Sky crushed the field. I dno whats up with Thomas, always viewed him as a super domestique in all terrains, but seemed a little too strong today, allthough climbers like Majka, Aru, Bardet etc. certainly arent in topshape while the cimb wasnt too steep nor long, so from that perspective it might seem somewhat okay. |

think it's just whenever a Sky rider wins anywere. except on cobbles, cause everybody loves cobbled riders, no matter how impossible there win might seem.

Geraint Thomas supreme climber.
Always nice those Sky transformerbots.
Bit disappointed with Kelderman sucking.
On the other hand, Kwiatkowski makes the race interesting and even Tom Dumoulin did pretty well considering his illness last week. |

Just climbs. TT's, Hills and Sprints everyone seems ok with. At least no-one mentioned anything when Thomas won Algarve a few weeks ago.

Porte was the strongest with no doubts. Now what I am still thinking about is: Gallopin? I don't mind because I like him but I didn't see him at all
