That David Kunz will become a beast. At 18 he is already a good rider for a PC team. Good luck in Germany |

Thanks all for following
 Rund um Koln
This German one-day race could go any of three ways. The cobblers, the puncheurs or the sprinters all have a chance so it should prove to be an interesting race. Cobblers like Bak (Lotto) or Stannard (Sky) are the pre-race favorites but we are hoping for a sprint finish. That way Janse Van Rensburg has a good chance of a high finish.
170kms to go
The day’s break contains four men, and the riders are not all completely useless. Vogondy (Accent) can climb hills decently, while Forke (NSP) can sprint as well. Behind, Lotto have seized the initiative and are controlling the gap for Bak. It is at 2’25” at the moment.
46kms to go
On the second and final cobbled climb of the day it has started raining, and Sky and IAM have started helping Lotto out on the front. The break is a further 2’45” up the road after it peaked at around 5’20”. The cobbles do not seem to be affecting the riders as much as predicted.
10kms to go
The break is pulled back by Sky, and the riders are on the final circuit, it looks like the sprinters will get their way. The bunch did split on the final hill, and it only contains 50 men. Our whole squad was on the right side of it though so we should be able to set Janse Van Rensburg up.
2500m to go
The sprint has started, but it is very messy. Lotto hold the first positions with Wellens leading, but it is unclear who they are leading out. Janse Van Rensburg is holding Dehaes’ wheel well and is in about ninth place.
1000m to go
Under the flammage rouge Bille is in the lead with Dehaes just behind who is giving Janse Van Rensburg the perfect leadout. Can the South African profit? Saramontins is also flying through for IAM.
Finish
But Janse Van Rensburg files through and wins! An amazing ride from the South African, who secures his first win in our colors. Bille gets second for Lotto, whose riders faded badly in the end. Commeyne, Saramontins and Dehaes complete the top 5. Chaoufi also sprints well to finish sixteenth. A great day for us.

Comments
What a win from Reinardt! He played the race perfectly, conserving energy on the cobbles before picking the right wheel. A very pleasing result for us. Next up is the Vuelta a Castilla y León.

Vuelta a Castilla y León Preview
***
Valverde (Movistar), Van den Broeck (Lotto), Pellizotti (Andrioni)
**
Vande Velde (Garmin), Intxausti (Movistar), Kruijswijk (Blanco)
*
Vorganov (Katusha), Nordhaug (Blanco), Duarte (Standard Bank)
 Fabio Duarte
 Jonathan Tiernan-Locke
 Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg
 Tarik Chaoufi
 Bert-Jan Lindeman
 Martijn Keizer
 Jacques Janse Van Rensburg
We come into this race with no real hopes. Fabio and Jonathan have both not hit good form yet so our only hope for them is to build form here. It would be tough to do anything on top form here anyway with riders like Valverde and Van den Broeck choosing this race as preparation for the Ardennes.
As there is a sprint stage first Reinardt is attending, in a hope of carrying his great form which recently won him the Rund um Koln, and turning it into a stage win. Bert-Jan could also do something on the hilly stage.

2.1: Vuelta a Castilla y León Stage 1 | 13/04
The first stage of the tour is flat, and should suit the sprinters. There is a quality field though, so there should be some tough competition. Renshaw (Blanco), Petit (Cofidis) and Napolitano (Accent) are the favorites, while in-form Janse Van Rensburg is our best bet for a higher finish.
2500m to go
The peloton doesn’t want a group to get away, which leads us straight to the final kilometers. Duarte decides to give Janse Van Rensburg a leadout to test his legs. He completely blows away the field on a short rise and is in the lead by a good 25m. Janse Van Rensburg will be the man to catch after this!
1000m to go
But the peloton catches the pair, and Napolitano flies into the lead for Accent. Matthews and Duque are with the Italian. Janse Van Rensburg is struggling to accelerate away from Duarte.
Finish
Matthews powers through to win for GreenEdge, which also gets the Australian the provisional GC-lead. Andriato is second for Andrioni and Renshaw rounds out the podium. Janse Van Rensburg left Duarte’s wheel too late and lost lots of speed which he never recovered from. Eighth is quite disappointing considering his form.

Comments:
Well, a bad day for us with Reinardt. Eighth is not what we wanted and is especially disappointing seeing his position with 2000m to go. Still, it's only a stage of the stage race so we will look to tomorrow.

Thanks Sutty
 2.1: Vuelta a Castilla y León Stage 2 | 14/04
Today’s second stage is very hilly, and could be a deciding factor to decide the race winner. Favorites are the best hilly riders, who are here in abundance gaining form for the upcoming Ardennes classics. The headliners who will be looking to take away the win include Valverde (Movistar), Van den Broeck (Lotto) and Italian champion Pellizotti (Andrioni). Duarte is just building form here, but a top 10 could be achieved with some luck.
Finish
Dekker took the win for Garmin after a solo attack from 10kms out. A select group of eighteen finished 17” back on the Dutchman, of which Valverde took the sprint for second and Vande Velde took third. Duarte was in the group and was sixteenth on the day, which puts him in eleventh overall going into the final mountain stage tomorrow.
| 1 | Thomas Dekker | Garmin - Sharp | 3h56'38 | | 2 | Alejandro Valverde | Movistar Team | + 17 | | 3 | Christian Vande Velde | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | | 4 | Laurens Ten Dam | Blanco Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | | 5 | Francis De Greef | Lotto Belisol | s.t. |
2.1: Vuelta a Castilla y León Stage 3 | 15/04
The final stage of the Tour is very mountainous and should define the GC placing’s with most threats being on the same time. Dekker (Garmin) will be hoping to defend his leader’s jersey which he gained yesterday, while riders like Valverde, Vande Velde and Pellizotti will look to take it away. Our target for the day is to move Duarte up the GC into the top 10 overall.
50kms to go
Chaoufi is in the day’s break and has won two category 1 KoM sprints, which is good enough to take the lead in that competition. The front six have a gap of 2’35 over the final climb which surely won’t last.
15kms to go
Chaoufi and Co have been caught by the 55 strong peloton, but that isn’t the big news. Race leader Dekker has been dropped, and third overall Vande Velde has gone back to help him. They are both in a group 2’09” behind the bunch and as it currently stands Duarte will end the day in eighth overall, due to CCC’s Rutkiewicz being dropped as well.
4kms to go
An elite group has attacked on a small descent before the finish containing Van den Broeck, Valverde, Izaguirre and Rubiano. Rubiano and Valverde are both ahead of Duarte, while VdB and Izaguirre both are over three minutes back so don’t hold threats. Our Colombian is panicking in the peloton behind and decides to attack.
Finish
The Belgian wins the stage which must be a consolation prize after he lost lots of time yesterday. Valverde is second and wins the race overall and Rubiano is third be is not a threat either.
Finish
Another group of eight comes in after the front trio, before Duarte comes in. He finishes twelth on the day, 58” behind Van den Broeck. His attack near the finish stole some valuable seconds on the peloton.
| 1 | Jurgen Van den Broeck | Lotto Belisol | 4h35'25 | | 2 | Alejandro Valverde | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 3 | Miguel Rubiano | Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela | s.t. | | 4 | Franco Pellizotti | Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela | + 19 | | 5 | Gorka Izagirre | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. |
In the overall standings, everyone in the top eleven today, bar Van den Broeck and Rubiano get a top 10. Valverde wins the race while Duarte gets his top 10 overall in tenth. Some good riding from him in a race which was just form building. We also walk away with the KoM jersey thanks to Chaoufi.

Comments:
A top 10 is more or less what we expected from Fabio here. He is now showing some signs of improving form, which is great to see ahead of the Giro. Tarik's King of the Mountains jersey is a bonus as well. Next up for us is the Giro del Trentino, which is another race for Fabio.

2.HC: Giro del Trentio Preview
17/04 – 20/04
***
Contador (Saxo Bank), Evans (BMC), Scarponi (Lampre)
**
Nocentini (AG2R), Velits (OPQS), Poels (Vacansoleil)
*
Zubeldia (RadioShack), Roche (Saxo Bank), Gadret (AG2R)
This is another race that Fabio is targeting. This should be a good indicator for the Giro, as there is a very strong startlist and we are in Italy. Fabio has not hit top form yet, and is still building form so it will be hard to beat names like Contador and Evans.
The first stage is a Team Time-Trial, so we have brought Martijn and Reinardt for that. Jonathan and Bert-Jan are also here to prepare for our World Tour wildcard, Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Marc and Jacques will both be domestiques in general, protecting Fabio in the Mountains, collecting water and helping the TTT effort.
Just a note, I will simulate the first stage because TTT’s are biased to the AI if too short, and biased to the human player if too long. I will do this for all TTT’s. The first couple of reports should be up tomorrow.

Did a quick report due to the quickness of simming.
2.HC: Giro del Trentino Stage 1
17/04
As said the TTT was simmed. RadioShack-Leopard won it, with Astana second and Katusha third. Voigt went over the line first for the Luxembourgian squad so he will lead the race tomorrow. We finished a disappointing twenty-fourth out of twenty-five, probably due to our lack of time-trialling ability. 2’19” is a big gap for Duarte to close down, but it could mean he is allowed some leeway to attack.

A bit disappointing TTT for the team.
Although you can't do much against the real top...
Duarte will get some space for attacking now, indeed

2.HC: Giro del Trentino Stage 2
18/04
This is the first of three mountain stages, where the stronger riders in the mountains will hope to pull away from the better time trailers after the TTT yesterday. The favorites must be riders like Contador (Saxo Bank), Evans (BMC) and Scarponi (Lampre). Duarte lost lots of time yesterday due to our poor TTT performance, but he will be hoping to move higher overall with a good finish.
70kms to go
After many attacks trying but failing, RadioShack let a group of ten riders go. The closest rider to Voigt overall is Oss (BMC), who is 23” back on the German. There are no major climbers in the group but Pardilla (MTN) or Di Luca (Vini) could do something. The gap is currently 3’10”.
25kms to go
Di Luca looks to be feeling good today and has attacked out of the breakaway group. The Italian has 1’20” on the other nine attackers, and 3’30” on the peloton which is struggling to shut down the gap.
12kms to go
The break is proving too hard to catch for RadioShack, so Contador decides to attack! The Spaniard has four others following him, and is looking very strong just before the final climb. His group is 50” ahead of the peloton, 55” behind the nine-man break and 2’30” behind Di Luca, who now has 1’40” on his breakaway companions. It looks as if he will win the stage.
6kms to go
But RadioShack put in a big pull at the front of the bunch, and pull the race all back together bar Di Luca, who has 2’30” now. Undettered after his failed first attack, Contador tries again. Duarte is at the front of the peloton, monitoring the situation.
Finish
Di Luca wins the stage for Vini, after a 25km solo attack. He will get the leader’s jersey as areward for his efforts. Behind, a group of seven has ridden off the front of the peloton, including Duarte. They have caught Contador, but our Colombian is struggling to hang on.
Finish
After Di Luca, a group of three comes in, with Kashechkin (Astana) winning the sprint for second ahead of Txurruka (Caja Rural) and Tiralongo (Astana). Contador, Dyachenco and Chernetisky come in just behind before Duarte rolls over the line in ninth, just behind Bakelants. The pair finish 4’10” and 4’19 “down on Di Luca respectively after being dropped by the other six riers. Race leader Voigt rounds out the top 10, winning the peloton sprint 6’14” behind the Italian.
Di Luca takes the GC lead by 1’22” back to Kashechkin. Despite finishing almost two minutes ahead of the peloton, Duarte is only in thirty-fifth overall because he lost so much time yesterday in the TTT.

Comments:
A good start for Fabio which needs to be built on. If he can consistently finish highly then he should be able to move over most of the riders he is behind, in thirty-fifth overall. There will hopefully be more to come.
