I guess it's time for an update on
Who the hell is Merckx?

If you don't remember: Winning all three jerseys at the Tour as often as possible with Quintana.
To keep my motivation up, I decided to only sign Spanish and Colombian riders. Exclusively. Not even if Herklotz was available
2015

Froome wasn't far behind before the final TT, but luckily it was hilly and with good daily form, I managed to not lose any significant time. The TTT helped a lot though as Froome was up to 85 MO while Quintana maxed out at 84.
(TTT team: 79 78 78 77 76 74 73 71 71)
2016

The advantage looks rather comfortable here as well, but I tried a sneaky pace increase on the last hill of the last stage before the final TT, and Contador was caught out losing 1'02 on that day. So without that, only 7 seconds advantage!
Another year, another TTT. This time >60k though, so 2 minutes on Conta and 3 on Porte that way.
(TTT team: 80 80 78 78 77 76 75 74 74)
Froome had a hard time early in the race and never quite recovered.
2017

The easiest win so far. This was the 2005 variant with a stage finish in my home town, so special memories here
Again a huge TTT, this time 67.5k. Basically 3 minutes on everyone again
(TTT team: 81 80 78 78 78 76 76 75 74)
Urrutia in 6th is a scouted talent only missing out on the podium because he lost 1'10 in a first week untimely puncture.
He's only 21!
80 MO, 72 HIL, 76 TT with 1/2/2 stars left
So the result of all this for now...

And Quintana's stats for 2016 and 2017:

Fun fact: I just went past the date when I stopped my Stölting career after winning the TdF, so this is my longest career in probably quite a few years by now.
Mind you I'm not too thoroughly interested in anything but the GTs and hilly classics with a 82 hill Izagirre.
I do care about the other GTs though in terms of lineups and achieve regular Top 5's there.
Fun fact #2: I spend 200k per month less on rider salaries than I receive since 2015 now. I could've signed all of Betancur, Henao and Uran by now, but I want to keep this as close to possible reality as possible. Betancur will come as a replacement for Intxausti next season though.

Just won Paris Nice with Peter Sagan, 17 seconds ahead of Kwaitkowski, held the leaders jersey since stage 2 and taken two stage wins, one each for Sagan and Gatto. Had to fight hard to keep it on the final stage.
Marcato currently sitting 4th in the Tirreno- Adriatico too after Villella drop out out of contention on the long stage to Chieti.

Started a career with Team Colombia and really enjoying it. Durte had taken 4 wins this season and Pantano took a stage from a break on a one day race. Duque must have like 30 top 10s and no win. Struggling to get a wildcard to WT races which suck. Got my eye on a few regens so if I find any cool ones I'll post them here.
Hoping to stay 100% Colombian but if there is a sponsor that comes in, I may diversify. |

Is it a way to check which riders have agreed on contract extension with my team?
I have my doubts whether I've already secured one rider for next season or not (he is in my team already). And I have no idea how to check it. The game still shows the contracts of plenty of my riders end in 2014 even if I'm sure some of them already extended. |

Just try asking for another negotiation or look in the rider panel under "next season".

Transfers page should say from you to you or on the squad page where you can see the contract end year there should be a column that says team for next season.

Hi
So I just reached the transfer market in my 1st season with Bardiani and I don't have a clue what to buy. I want to keep the team 100 % Italian and I also want to keep the age average as low as it is now.
So the only criteria is that the rider have to be Italian and under 25 years of age. Right now I'm considering A.Zordan and F.Aru after watching them at the Giro. So any suggestions ?

Visconti, Aru, Ulissi are always good options.

Yeah, totally missed that (on phone right now). But still, Ulissi isn't over 25 asaik. In fact, he's still 24.

Felline, Alafaci, Puccio, Moser, Villela, Formolo, Bettiol, Cattaneo and Bonifazio off the top of my head. |

Going into 2015 he would be 25... so it depends on personal opinion

Thanks for the replies, I will go for F.Aru and D.Villela, while I already signed 2 scouted talents , where one of them is an upcoming star
P. Colonna , A. Piechele and M.Coledan will leave the team in the end of the season. Ulissi could have been a target, but I feel he would've ruined the whole save and also lower the diffilculty

Ended up signing Kwiatkowski, Barguil and Landa for Lotto wlong with Vandewalle, Dennis and Benoot. I'll add a Belgian talent or two and then the squad will be complete.
Meanwhile at the Tour Greipel is battling Cavendish for green, with Kittel and Sagan not starting. Currently at stage 10, Cav just holds the lead by ten points but I'll recover that from mountain stage breaks I think.
@sgdanny - Villela seems like a good choice, has won two Tour stages so far in my career! Aru should bring some good GC results also. I'd edit his mountain up to 78 after his Giro performance. |

Villella has been good for me on my Cannondale save, he was doing well in Tirreno until his stamina let him down on the long stage to Chieti.
Also just won Milan San Remo with Sagan.
Ivan Basso won the first stage in Catalunya, with only one more hilly stage to Andorra, I feel confident on taking the overall. Viviani is here with Sabatini to try and win the sprint stages, but getting over the short hills is a problem for Viviani.

(2013 DB) So I've come through the Giro, where the target was a stage win from my sponsor and a good position in the GC as my personal goal I secured a 8th with Horner and hadn't got a stage win, but decided to set Monfort out in the break in stage 20. I won by a bike length. His form a currently given him a position as leader in Dauphiné and I finsihed it with a top 10.

New DB, new career:
FCD - Spain 2014 - EPM-UNE
Vuelta al Tachira:
Epic battle between Diaz (San Luis) and Sevilla Ribera. Sevialla is 50'' down, and has a +5 day, has a 40'' advantage on the final downhill and he falls... I hate this game so much...
Just a few stages left, and I hope I can salvage a top 3 now...
EDIT: Tachira final GC:
| 1 | Daniel Ricardo Diaz | San Luis Somos Todos | 31h25'58 | | 2 | Oscar Sevilla Ribera | EPM - Une | + 7'44 | | 3 | Julien El Farès | Team La Pomme Marseille 13 | + 8'22 | | 4 | Rui Miguel Barbosa Sousa | Rádio Popular - Onda | + 8'48 | | 5 | Carlos Barbero Cuesta | Euskadi | + 8'57 | | 6 | Gregory Juel Brenes Obando | Jamis - Hagens Berman | + 10'15 | | 7 | Gustavo César Veloso | OFM - Quinta Da Lixa | + 10'41 | | 8 | Alex Correia Diniz | Funvic Brasilinvest - São José dos Campos | + 11'09 | | 9 | Higinio Fernandez | Team Ecuador | + 12'54 | | 10 | Robigzon Leandro Oyola Oyola | EPM - Une | + 13'50 |
Diaz was unbeatable, Sevilla got into a nice battle for 2nd with a super aggressive El Fares, a strong Barbosa and a consistent Barbero. Oyola got into the top 10 thanks to a break

Finally won an Ardennes Classic (Fleche in this case) with Villella of all people. Had initially had him there as a helper for Quintana but he just happend to be near the front when Valverde went, so I tried to follow. Put in another attack right at the end and by this point Valverde was cooked (But then I wasn't in the best of positions either ). Dotted to the finish - assuming the AI did the same - and narrowly edged him out.
Now doing the Giro with Quintana leading and hoping for a top 3/ mountain jersey and a few stages |

Also finished the Tour de San Luis with in my EPM-Une game:
| 1 | Fabio Andres Duarte Arevalo | Colombia | 24h01'57 | | 2 | Christophe Riblon | Ag2r - La Mondiale | + 37 | | 3 | Oscar Sevilla Ribera | EPM - Une | + 1'49 | | 4 | Steve Morabito | BMC Racing Team | + 2'07 | | 5 | Haimar Zubeldia | Trek Factory Racing | + 2'24 | | 6 | Dominik Nerz | BMC Racing Team | + 2'33 | | 7 | Andrey Amador | Movistar Team | + 2'41 | | 8 | Andriy Grivko | Astana Pro Team | + 5'06 | | 9 | Fabio Felline | Trek Factory Racing | + 5'11 | | 10 | Julián David Arredondo Moreno | Trek Factory Racing | s.t. |
The race was over before the decisive mountain stage, as most of the team leaders fell on stage 1, most notably Agnoli, Sella and Phinney. Third in the GC is great, but considering Sevilla won the Queen stage it could've been better. Free agent signing Luis Miguel Mansilla Almonacid Sprinted to a 2nd and a 3rd place. 'Rival' Diaz also fell on stage 1...
