@trek
To get your PS3 controller hooked up, look up motioninjoy if you haven't already. Using that program I just plugged my controller into my computer with a USB and then you can use your controller instead of keyboard.

Yeah, I spent a while with motion joy, I keep getting an error message though.

OK guys
for all before it becomes unstopable..
"Training Races" are fun yes we (Paul;Stahli) can understand this but, when u do ur qualifying or the race the session is for others closed! that means that they cant join the server. But u guys want to race cuz its fun and the best preparation for a race is a race so we stay together and maybe we got a solution:
Voting is possible when 10people are on the server and 5 say yes we wanna race (10people is the minimum to vote) that means that u cant do 3 or 4 man races. (when u ask an admin (Me or Paul) its something different). But u can ask in the forum or in our TS3 Server IP:
YoutubeMediaNetwork.nitrado.net
where u can ask us too (we are like allways in ts3 so if u rly wanna do a 3 man race..)) IF someone wants to race like hey anybody wanna race. Its actually a server that u can prepare yourself and eachother for "the BIG race" in january to make stetups maybe find some good new racelines or train fighting with your partner.
Paul and me are not that stupid we know that its hard to find 10 people that wanna race so we could do kinda a daily race. So that the server always start a race at 8pm example.
ok guys start to discuss.

You take things very seriously don't you.
Since the server was setup to be a PCM.daily league, makes sense to keep any discussions here and not on Teamspeak
Imo, it is fairly simple. Now you've actually told us that a race blocks the server, people are aware of that. So if ever a race is to take place then so long as somebody posts in the thread that that is happening, if somebody wants to join the server in the 15 minutes or so that the 5-lap race might take, they can post in this thread which somebody in the race can then check and see after the race is completed. A 5 lap race doesn't take too long to complete - and if you are trying to join the server mid-race then it will probably be less than 5 laps to go anyway. I don't think anybody is interested in doing any of the Qualifying sessions before having a quick fun race.
I don't see the problem of allowing people to train through mini-races rather than just practice sessions. Realistically there is not going to be 10 people online on the server without a concerted effort to get people online at once, so if there's 4 people online and they all want to do a race, let them do so.

Yeah, I agree. It may be more of a casual view compared to you two because you guys are more experienced with rFactor but if people really want to do practice and stuff, you could do it offline (I've not noticed a change in physics like console racing games I've played, so I dont think there is a difference or its hardly noticeable, afaik), and have the bonus of not having people get in your way then as well. Of course Practice is a lot more fun online because you can chat with other people and stuff, but I still enjoyed the races a lot more than practice, and prefer to do them whenever it is an available option.

Well I know rFactor (I have it) and you can test also alone but most leagues use some programs to setup temperatures/weather (not so sure at rFactor here, never driven in a league with the weather plugin) so they tend to be more realistic.
And it isn't that unimportant to set the car to some temperatures to help that your tyres don't wear out that fast (even though still to change the driving style is the 1st step as that wears the tyre out the fastest if you drift etc. around).
I would advise: Make a date set for example like every friday evening at ?? you can test a race.
So 1st everyone knows that you can drive a race there, 2nd maybe the partipiciation will be better than 3-4 and is 3rd, so more useful as a test race.
But I am still not interested in the league as I simply don't like the new F1 cars.

I see no problem having small practice races every now and then. We are almost exclusively here just for fun and are certainly not serious sim-league racers (i exclude Paul and Stahli for obvious reasons). Practice races are a bit fun and can still provide great data to the participants whilst also allowing development of race craft.
Just make it known before you start a race so that a) Other people can join and b) If anyone does try to join the session they are aware why it won't let them. Don't bother with Quali and limit to 5-10 laps depending on # of participants. Not going to take huge amounts of time and if you've only got 15-20mins for practice then you are probably better doing it offline anyway.
Keep this fun especially as racing still looks like being about 3-4 weeks away.

empty car after pitstop? here is the fix!
rFactor/UserData/Username
open the Username.plr (with the Microsoft Editor or the Notepad you can use pretty much everything what can open files and give it as text)
press ctrl+f search for relative 2 times
change the "Relative Fuel Strategy from 0 to 1 it must look like this:
Relative Fuel Strategy="1"
Enjoy your PitStop! =)

Since i pay around 20€/month in the server, and on top of that are still working on the mod,(letting alone, that i had around 20h spend on that mod already) yes I take it quite serious. Sorry for that.

Teamspeak will be used while having the "real" races, so it would be good if you guys would learn how to use it. On top of that, I honestly don't think that you guys will stop a race, when someone writes in the forum, that he wants to take part. Letting alone, that it's kinda stupid, that you need to ask for joining before you can join.

It's not that we don't want to race. If you see us on the track, we are always open for a fight. We just back off, to not interrupt your laps.

You know, that it is possible, that you can still race, even in a practice session? Also, if you have daily races, we think that it could get boring very fast. Its better to be excited for a race in 3 weeks, than taking that excitement and putting it in daily stuff.
@Rin I couldn't agree more.

I don't know how it is with other people you may play rFactor with, but on PCM gaming it's standard practise to wait for someone if they have posted on here that they want to join. It's unfortunate that you assume everybody to be selfish.
Obviously if the race has started then nobody will be looking on the forum, but 5 laps does not take long, and that person can be waited for when that race is over.
Paul23 wrote:

It's more stupid to try prevent any attempt at casual racing, just because of the low odds that somebody might want to join in the following 10-15 minutes. And again, bringing in a comparison with PCM online racing, people are used to having a small wait to play if they aren't on in time.

Completely disagree. Races don't get boring - they're always unpredictable. Whereas doing practise sessions can get quite repetitive. Never mind the fact that these mini-races have only featured 4-5 players so far. That's incomparable to a full grid, and there were plenty of comments last night that the taster of racing had helped to increase excitement for the actual races.

Before you read this. Keep in mind, that i just want to set things straight and not let them get out of control.
@Nonsense
I don't want to quote everything, so i just start.
1.) I don't want this thread being spammed by "I want to join, could you wait for me?" posts
2.) This league isn't like PCM! It will never be, and it shouldn't be.
3.) Races will get boring. I was in several leagues already, and driving races all day long has proven itself to be a bad choice because after one week, no-one was excited for the big races.
4.) The server was meant to be a trainings server. Please use it as that.
5.) This is just for you SN. I don't exactly know, what pissed you off, but you seem to have somehow a hatred against us. Not only that you call us names like "Fun Police", "Mr. Serious" and you seem to dislike the general attitude of my friend.
It's ok, to have an opinion, but everyone else is still friendly and wants to improve the league, while you just keep being picky about everything thats going on.
I'm sorry I had to tell this to you all, but I have a concept behind this league, and I have experience with this. I won't tell you how to do your story games, because i don't know how to organize that. So please don't try to be picky about everything. It's ok, to give ideas, but just being against everything is just bad. Look at TMM and valverde321 f.e.. They know how to discuss properly and how to give ideas, and not just throwing every idea away.

Hey guys. Another update. But this time, there is no need to download.
The changes made were server wise.

"Fun Police", "Mr. Serious"
Just picking this out specifically to quote. This stems from you and Stahli being quite a significant gap quicker than anyone else. I think of myself as a competent sim-racer and you guys are way ahead of me, let alone the other members who can't seem to drive in a straight line half the time (though are getting better).
Most of us are here for some fun online racing against other Daily members because it's not something normal. Thanks to your background work and contributions it's also very easy for us to get racing.
Racing being the key word. We want to race and have some fun. I'm probably more serious than most other guys and i'm pretty bored of testing at this point. I've run enough laps to adjust your provided setup to my liking and my lap-times are consistant. I've run probably ~100 laps at this point and that's just kind of a lot for me in any game without racing.
Long and short. I don't think anyone is asking for daily races, yes that would get boring. But perhaps we can put aside a hour twice a week (eg. 7-8pm Tuesday/Thursday) when a series of 15-20min practice races can be run for people that are interested/available. Perhaps it would be nice to know the provisional date for the first race so we have something to aim at and look forward to. Right now it seems like racing is ages away hence the interest in these smaller test races. Plus smaller test races are just fun in themselves and can be very useful.
No-one is trying to be hurtful but there is clearly a difference between the experienced racers (you and Stahli) and the rest of us. This is PCM.Daily and our primary user base is PCM players whose main online gaming experiences may well be PCM. Keep this in mind that we are mostly inexperienced guys looking for some fun and racing is infinately more fun than running endless practice laps (which are not fun). Great for you two to pair up and do some battling action but most other teams don't have the communication or timeing to do that.
Let's all be friends. I'm sure everyone appreciates the effort and money you've put in. #WAAFFLEO4Life

I really don't know what your problem is. I don't see how my responses are any different from TMM and valv's today? I'm trying to have a discussion while you are just rejecting anything I say, and not responding to what I believe to be some very valid points, backed up by my experience of actually playing online with members of this website - which despite your experience of rFactor, is not something you have. And worse, you've moved in to personal accusations in #5, which of course I will respond to below.
And I shall continue because despite your attempts to demotivate me, I'm still interested in the game, and trying to understand the parts of your point of view that don't make any sense to me.
1. At least it would show interest in your game.
2. Obviously it isn't PCM, but it is still online gaming and I believe it to be quite relevant to point out that there is a track record of people being patient and unselfish on this forum - despite your apparentely unbreakable belief that it is not possible.
3. I'm not sure how a couple of 10-15 minute races every now and then equates to all day long. My point still stands that a race with smaller amount of people does not make it boring when a full race happens, and yesterday was direct proof that contradicts your point of view. Did it cross your mind that people who have never played the game before will act differently than people who actively seek out rFactor leagues?
4. Practice races are training too.
5. So I guess you have no sense of humour? I'm not pissed off at all (but it seems you are) and you seem to have taken very seriously my in-game comment to valv which was something like "I might as well go to bed now the fun police are here " after you and stahli joined the server and had a great big moan. It's laughable if stahli is also now insulted by "Mr Serious" considering I said that this afternoon in response to him calling me "Mr Fun Police". But as jihardy was witness to, stahli did make some bizarre arrogant-ish comments to me in-game this afternoon too, but I didn't come here to quote them to everyone.
--
Ultimately, at least 95% of the time the server is being used for practice sessions as you command. I just don't get why you seem to want to halt any attempts of a fun race or two when everybody online at the time is keen to do so.

Thats right. But our speed doesn't come from our knowledge. It's because we are practising much more. Btw: valverde drives around stahlis speed, and stahli is just 0.5 - 1.0 seconds slower than i am, so we are not miles away.
I've run enough laps to adjust your provided setup to my liking and my lap-times are consistant. I've run probably ~100 laps at this point and that's just kind of a lot for me in any game without racing.
Ok, i can understand your point.
I don't think anyone is asking for daily races, yes that would get boring.
SN is still complining that we are not driving races all day long...So no-one asks for daily races, but for one every 20 minutes.
But perhaps we can put aside a hour twice a week (eg. 7-8pm Tuesday/Thursday) when a series of 15-20min practice races can be run for people that are interested/available.
Thats what we suggested.
Perhaps it would be nice to know the provisional date for the first race so we have something to aim at and look forward to.
We thought about the 24/01/15.
