To the surprise of many fans, Michael Schröder, DS of Movistar Team, resigns from his position. The team management released a statement about the mutually agreed contract termination and wishes the manager good luck on his future paths.

Official reason are different opinions on the sporting future but insiders talk about pressure from the sponsors after the public row between Schröder and Alejandro Valverde. Seemingly, they threatened the team with a end of their contract should Valverde leave in such a messy way.

Schröder blocks most questions right now but wants to wish the riders - especially Nairo Quintana and Rui Costa - all the luck to perform in their races." I think both have made a huge jump under my management and are ready to coin the next years of cycling. I will of course follow them very closely and hope they can get some major wins!"

Rumours indicate that a new manager has already been contacted and will be presented very soon to the public.
