Zepuntke puncturing clearly didn't help, but the general problem for us obviously lay deeper here: Don't bring cobblers to a puncheur fight.

What a fantastic result! Had hoped vdP would be in the top 5 here, but when I saw he was one of the early attackers I worried we were on for a repeat of Viana. Fortunately that didn't turn out to be the case, and Pithie adding a strong 6th was a nice surprise as well - hopefully his first big result of many.
Looking at the points scored here that's around 10% of the total likely needed to stay up from 2 RDs, which is a nice position to be in. Still need about 11 PPRD from the remaining races but it makes it easier at least

Van Niekerk as the best pure puncheur (according to the preview) so fourth is a very good result! Good 'gamble'.

This used to be a comfy race for Stannard, but the gravel kind of put that challenge. Still having a very reasonable cobble stat thought he would be near the front.
Bonking right after the decisive group formed all the way down to outside the top10 is not only underwhelming but also worrying.
The race was beautiful, great report UU! Congrats on a massive win jph, VdP was stellar today!

Fun race, great report, and stellar rides from Jorgenson and Kozhat to give us two inside the Top 10. A much needed result for a race we took a gamble on. VdP was just too strong in the end.

I wouldn't have thought that Kozhat could top 10 here. Well done on the planning.
