Not a good race. Polanc acting like he is a big underdog and going for the very long range attack really hurt his chances. Especially with the monument point scale, i wanted to get more out of this.
Also a big congratulations to tastasol on the Pedersen win, but also great to see Wisniowski find his class again. For us, that was a very, very good result with Anderberg in 5th. We’ll happily take it
Definitely satisfied with third here, behind the two better traditional cobblers and ahead of Gerts. We made an attempt to break the race up earlier, and unfortunately it didn't work. But the way things unfolded, I don't think it cost us anything. Per just wasn't the best sprinter left at the end. A monument podium is still nothing to scoff at, and the AI was once again back to normal for our team in comparison to the first two classics.
Given the monument scoring scale, I'm still a bit disappointed in our cobbles depth this year (Meiler finishing at the back of his group doesn't help). But ultimately when you're getting podiums, that stuff is secondary.
Congrats to Grieg and Pedersen on a deserved win! As much as I hated to see it, it looked right to see Pedersen sprinting away from the group there.
Thanks for the great report!
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy
No single minijersey sighting in that report. I wish we at least had been in the break for some TV coverage in a monument.
Pedersen finally doing Pedersen things again, good to see! Congrats Grieg on a big one, and thank you kandesbunzler for your report.
Hey! Apologies for my absence!
Between being busy and basically constantly sick, I feel behind schedule to follow the early races live, and then my ADHD ass kicked in and faltered under that ever-growing backlog again.
I'm back for the Giro and hopefully everything after, and I want to reiterate I'm still very much committed to this game long-term if you want me around.
Happy New Year!
