A fun race, but a bit too climber friendly for my liking. It wasn't a race for us in any case, so a breakaway appearance is about as good as it gets. Congrats to Cio on another win.
A big thanks to all the reporters, those who write the previews and everyone else that does the work behind the scenes. It's another MG season in the books and it couldn't have been done without all your hard work!!
The miracle didn't happen - not surprisingly. Would have been somewhat interesting going into this race if Coquard could have won in Moscow, but we never really came close.
It's easy to find a bunch of races where we failed, but Coquard ended up scoring close to what we could expect so he's not to blame. Farantakis, Koretzky and Carapaz are the ones that really should have done more to salvage our season. Still we were just not strong enough. Vlatos performed well, Giannoutsos very well, and we still relegates in some style - so ultimately it was my own fault. Too much focus on sprints rather than having a good solid GC rider like we had in the past was the decider.
Obviously this also makes it easy to see where and how to develop in the future so we can get back. I'm uncertain that training Giannoutsos into a 83+MO rider over the coming years is a viable solution, but it can be the what is needed until Karatsivis is ready.
In the end MO turned out too important for Lutsenko to perform. Dombrowski did save the day somewhat, but most likely our depth scoring here is not enough to overtake Polar in the final standings. Especially with Latour doing so well.
