Gerts seems to be determined to make the most of the hilly classics this year. Too bad he cracked quite badly on the finishing hill, it could have been ever better

Not the smartest approach from Koretzky being in a group where only Sagan is faster than him, and it almost costed him a good result! 5th in the end is aproximately what I expected, and had he played it cooler it would have probably been 3rd or atleast 4th... But he didn't explode and that's good... Budyak unfortunately not with the strong performance I had hoped for, but Kastrantas keeps impressing for no apparent reason and lands 23rd here, yet again well above his weight. As did Miltiadis! 24th from a rider with 71 MO and 71HI is pretty darn amazing...
Overall this was a good race that we can't complain about. Phinney in 9th isn't terrible, but I still fancy he could/should have been planned better to get the most out of him.

Not the best performance from Teuns here but it's not like he could have been gunning for much more regardless. Congrats KO!

Thanks for the PCM$, MAL And Congrats to KO, obviously, great win!
Good to see that pure puncheurs were doing well here, there are already enough races for the hybrids / mountain goats around

I think we'll pretty surely end up in no-mans land so this year it was possible to test some stuff. Would've been a homerun if he'd won.

Well, well...might also consider selling De Bie if this is his new performance. Same as with 83 hill, same as with 82 hill the year before.
Still he seems to not perform according to his stats, which is disappointing, in especially failing here in a win goal and not even coming close to any podium yet. As he didn`t even pull himself, I guess, he again wasn`t having a very good daily form.
Vliegen in 13th is obviously excellent once again and showing how much better he is in comparison to very similar Stuyven in the 80`s positions.
Congrats knockout. First of many I guess but also strong run lately by King Power and Gazelle with a strong climber in this one, clearly overperforming while Phinney was a bit doing average things.
Tough for Vesuvio in their home race and Gastauer hugely underperforming, no matter his decline, he is better than 25th! |

I wish this race was in HC

MAL is rolling! Well done, simply being the strongest. Congratulations!
Amezawa just inside the top 30 is nice to see, and also kind of encouraging for the years to come, as he can turn into a leader with time. |

Quite disappointed we couldn't hang on to the riders we were with and grab a top 10, looks like McCarthy is going to struggle if this is his performance in such a limited field...

Superman superstrong! Great win by MAL, congrats knockout!
Good to see Vermote in the break and Lastra also with a decent result. Much better than Badaling, that's for sure.

We made it into the break, which was the only good thing we could have achieved here.. Well, at least we made the Top-50 as well
Thanks for the report!

Yes! That's exactly what I was hoping the new Formolo to be capable of in hybrid races. The top favourites will probably always beat him, but it's awesome that he claimed this "best of the rest" result.
Also brilliant job by Karnulin to finish 12th. Apparently he carried his Portugal form straight to Luxembourg.

Wow, what happened to Serry? He was in line for a Top 12 it looked like, but disappeared in the last few kms, and only finished 29th, with Hatsuyama even beating him.
We have a few riders in the Top 40 tho, but kind of disappointing as it could have been much better. Also happy I didnt bring Kinoshita here, looked like the MO riders did even better than I had predicted, so he probably only would have finished around 5th.

Haha fair enough; he will occasionally beat a top favourite who has a huge offday.
De Bie will slaughter Formolo in pure hilly races like AGR though.

REALLY disappointing from Demare. Worse or similar climbers managed to cope.
The only thing salvaging this race somewhat is our great depth, starting with Yikui Niu on another roll, and even our future leader Madouas chipped in with 36th.
That somewhat allieviates the points loss comparing to Demare's 7th place last season, but he needs to step up by 500% in MSR. Doubt he'll return here either way.
Congrats knockout, this is what you spent all that wage budget on.
