Love it !
7 riders in front and Swift can sprint.
Consistency is winning here as history shows, so Degenkolb can take stage 1 if Swift takes the GC in the end.
A bit of a pity Groenewegen couldn`t hold on to bonus seconds, but this was to expected with his massive work in the end opening the gap.
Unfortunately Degenkolb then with a massive explosion also opening a gap to Swift but he came back nicely for 2nd.
Next 3 stages hopefully with less wind to play out the Bauhaus-Sbaragli-Groenewegen-Swift train with full potential.
Apparently must thank Van Stayen and Bewley, that caused this Qatar failure, while it`s now Lo Cicero in this shit 4th spot of not sprinting.
And lol @ Ben Hermans. What a rider he is. Unfortunatly wasn`t as strong back in 2012 in my debut team despite lower stats in general. |

No Kristoff here, so just hoping for breaks. Stacked field here so should provide some good battles.

FILIPPO GANNA!! A level 1 rider wearing two jerseys in a PT (HC) race?!
Demare executed the perfect strategy for windy sprints, just getting past a couple of strong guys on the line. With only 73 flat, this could've been way worse.
A perfect day, but both need to be very attentive if those wind speeds persist.

Generally couldn't be happier with him! Getting in the breakaway and resulting in him leading the KOM, the U25 classification, being 3rd in the Points classification and also 6th in the GC. If he can score points here that'll be a massive bonus.
Moser obviously struggling there and not participating in the sprint but no lost time and always have hope that he'll sprint on a stage at some point.
Gotta hope that a rider of mine joins the breakaway on the next stage as well, and every other for that matter!

Boeckmans outside the top 10 yet again. Just hope he can do better in the coming days.

It's a shame that it was our worst rider to participate in the break, yet at least we already guarantee that we will not leave this race with 0 points which seemed quite probable

The sprinttrain worked horrible here, but maybe due to Tzortzakis getting dropped, as he was probably a key member of the leadout here. So based on the dreadful team work, 3rd is good...
But we still need to get a win from Coquard soon, otherwise those money has been poorly spent!
Jocelyn Bar get's a bit of results here and there, which is nice, when Santos and Tzortzakis won't work for some reason. If he can land a top 20 because of those bonus seconds I'll be very pleased.

Hermans is absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible. Such a shame next year he'll decline and he'll ask a huge wage anyway, because I'd be stoked to renew him forever.
Thanks Aq!

Yet another good showing by Demare, in particular leading up to the flamme rouge. Finishing safely in the pack in the remaining stages would already suffice to make this race a success.
Ganna had nothing to fear here and finished a good 25th. It'll be interesting to see if he values the KoM jersey over white and the GC position tomorrow. Usually, the KoM leader tries his luck on such an opportunity though.
Best case scenario, breakaway appearance plus hanging on for s.t. with extra bonus seconds...
Love to see Bar scoring for Festina too!

Come on, you can better Swift.
Not ideal leadout, them Degenkolb stealing the wheel and them bad decision to go early himself.
Should had waited 3-400m longer.
But at least another decent result, just missing that win now. |

It’s difficult to be happy with 2nd, when you are still looking for that first stagewin in now 7 attempts from a 84SPR 83ACC rider, but it obviously makes for a good shot at the GC podium which is a must!
And also Jocelyn Bar with another great performance, now in an even better position for top 20 overall. But he’ll probably drop 5minutes in one of the remaining stages.

If Ganna avoids getting dropped then he'll take some vital points for us here. The ideal situation is he gets in the break for the KOM Sprint and then finishes with the front group. If he holds onto KOM, U25 and a Top 10GC that'll be massive. Moser still not in the Sprint but a bit closer to the front.

unlike Cavendish or Vantomme, who tried to follow the leaders and now have exploded

The first stage was like expected from Guerao completely terrible. The second was alright, 8th is not great but it's not like Guerao has done a top 10 already this season, when other sprinters were present so maybe it's looking up? |

Bit disappointing to see Gaudu join the breakaway and not Gonna as I would have backed Ganna to win all those sprints. Still 2nd in the KOM is a good result. Last stage can change our points haul a fair bit because if Ganna holds the U25 classification and doesn't lose too many GC places then I'll certainly take his 11th in the GC.
Would also like to see someone like Jakobsen join the breakaway as he may have a chance of winning the Intermediate sprints.

Nice riding by Kaspa to join the break, 5th in Kom is appreciated as it's essentially for nothing (but he could've picked up a bonus second. )
Awesome to see us building a train, though I really don't understand why we didn't use Hansen, probably the difference between 4th and 7th for Vantomme there.
Gratz to Roturn and Swift, I like seeing him win. Thanks as well, Aquarius!

Pathetic stuff...
No stagewins for us here obviously, and while the sprint train works to some extend today, Tzortzakis is useless as a leadout rider, which is somewhat worrying!
Coquard will end up scoring very similar to last season, hence not getting us any benefit at all from the massive training - aswell as the vast amount of money spent on leadout riders...

Aw man, that wasn't really smart...worst role to fill in a sprint.
Still, 5th in GC and points is retained for another day. Demare needs one good performance to close this out though, there are 3-4 strong guys close behind.
Ganna played it safe today, looks very good for white, second in KoM and a Top 15 in the GC. Could end up being up to 100 points?

That investment in a sprint train for Kennaugh has been quite useless, but he's doing very, very fine on his own, slightly overperforming like he did in Qatar. Obviously missed out big time on stage 1, but it's looking great now. |

I've updated the results with the Teams standings with the tie-break method. Festina leads comfortably ahead of the final stage from Aegon and Iberia. Puma is the only team that didn't have three riders in the main group in S2, so they are dead last in this classification
